Looking at the emoji, is he being replaced by a drum?

Bertie Bee retiring
Bertie Bee set to retire at the end of the season. A sad day for many youngsters. Club announcement doesn't say what our who succeeds Bertie. End of an era.
What a pity they aren't ceasing the bloody awful pitchside announcer as well.

Heard its to do with the club now having to pay royalties to music artists when fans sing chants, and how Bertie is the beating drum of our atmosphere.

Re: Bertie Bee retiring
I’m assuming the whole April fool thing we used to have has changed somewhat?
Used to be the weird and wonderful, the strange and the unlikely, the infuriating and the ridiculously possible. Now it’s as close to feasible as you can get?
They’ve changed our colours, why not let the mascot go?

Re: Bertie Bee retiring
There was one a few years back about the goals being made larger to encourage higher scoring matches. Marlon Beresford I think it was quoted as being outraged at the ridiculous idea.

Hate to point it out but that “few years back” was the best part of thirty years ago.

No wonder. Beresford had enough trouble keeping the ball out with the goals the size they still are.

Re: Bertie Bee retiring
To be fair it's perhaps time that he was retiring? Then again, I was discussing just last Saturday how well Bertie was moving, he seems as quick as he ever was, but he must be a fair age by now.

143 yrs old ... he has 1882 on his shirt ... born under the Beehole EndAfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 5:22 pmTo be fair it's perhaps time that he was retiring? The obviously very fit person when they did the assault course for example, and I'm reliably informed, a female once, just for a laugh

Re: Bertie Bee retiring
I remember Bertie Bee talking to Bill Shankley,
Asking if he had heard of the North Bank Highbury, Shanks said no he didn't think so,
But he had heard of The Longside Burnley

Allegedly, at one point, Ronnie Rhino and Bertie Bee were the same person.
He was very fit.

Enjoyed Pace getting in on the windup by implying we have a drummer on the way.
That suggests he has fully taken on board and received the loud message from fans.

I once hosted a corporate event at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. Ronnie Rhino and the Bradford Bull were both invited as special guests.
The two chaps inside hated each other, wouldn't speak and demanded separate changing areas!
