Nottingham Forest and Penalties
Following a routine win against Luton in the Third Round, Forest have beaten:
Exeter (4th Round)
Ipswich (5th Round)
Brighton (quarter final)
…all on penalties.
Two more shootouts to win the whole thing?

Re: Nottingham Forest and Penalties
Was it Portugal who won the euros once by only winning one game in normal time in the whole tournament?
Re: Nottingham Forest and Penalties
Hi Ric_C,
Indeed. In 2016, the only match they won in normal time was the SF against Wales.

Re: Nottingham Forest and Penalties
Forest did go out of the League Cup though on penalties, beaten 4-3 by Newcastle after a 1-1 draw.

Re: Nottingham Forest and Penalties
Winning on penalties doesn't seem like a proper win. I wish they'd have next goal wins.

I’ve been to matches that would still be playing. I reckon every 2 mins you would both have to take an outfield player off to increase the chances of a goal. Could End up 2 v 2.
Re: Nottingham Forest and Penalties
That leaves a lot of ground for extremely tired players to cover and would probably lead to injuries. You'd surely have to shorten the pitch as well or it would look ridiculous by the end.
Not for me.

Re: Nottingham Forest and Penalties
Instead of taking a player off every 2 minutes, chuck another ball on every five minutes.
Re: Nottingham Forest and Penalties
Release a lion on the pitch every 10 minutes, until we have a winner.
Re: Nottingham Forest and Penalties
They had a ‘golden goal’ experiment a few years back didn’t they, in a euros finals amongst others. They only played a maximum of 30 minutes extra time so it could still go to penalties if no goal was scored. Then is was quietly dropped. I used to quite like it.

I think we won at Crewe once with a golden goal from Kurt Nogan.
