Out of 20 play off finals the team finishing 3rd has won 9 meaning 11 winners came from a team not finishing 3rd.
That means a team not finishing 3rd has won more play off finals.
I'm not talking about breaking down individual places but plain and simple a team not finishing 3rd has won more finals than 3rd.
How is it so difficult to understand for you.

I think what people are struggling with is how that relates to your statement about the team finishing third rarely winning the playoffs that you haven’t acknowledged is the opposite of the truth.

I've already said above the word 'rarely' was the wrong one to use so why would people struggle to understand that?
It's a fact that the team finishing 3rd loses more play offs than they win in the championship.
Can you explain how it's the opposite of the truth when they lose more than they win

No that means there's more chance of the goal being scored by any other player except Josh Brownhill but well done for a pointless comparison.

Probably because teams that have finished 4th, 5th or 6th have lost a lot more!

Put it another way. More winning teams in the playoffs have come from 3rd than any other position. How does that sound?

Yes agreed on individual positions but I'm not saying that am I what don't you understand.
If we was to bet £100 on who wins the play offs and I said you could have A) 3rd position or B) the three other teams which option would you take?

Can you tell me Bumba how many teams have finished 4th, 5th and 6th in the same season? I suspect you must have this in your back pocket to continue this going or you'd start to look a bit stupid around now

In the history of the Championship it’s a fact that teams finishing between 2nd and 6th are promoted more often than the team that wins it.

Team in 3rd 9 wins
Team outside 3rd 11 wins

Not talking about individual positions, the team finishing 3rd is less likely to win the play offs than win them. The fact is their for you to read.

I have just had a bet that the teams that finish in the play offs end up with more points than the league winners

Ok.
Let's look at this a slightly different way. Simple question:
Statistically/ historically, to have the best chance of winning the play-offs, is it better to finish 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th
A one word answer will do.

It wasn’t just the wrong word it was a completely wrong message you were trying to convey, I.e. that the team finishing third weren’t likely to win the playoffs. The truth is that the team finishing third is more likely to win the playoffs than the team finishing fourth or the team finishing fifth or the team finishing sixth.

Now now come on we were doing well. There's no need for name calling is there. I wouldnt place a bet with an individual person as it ends up in trouble more often than not as being as the average person would normally go to a bookies to place a bet, I think assumption would be fair enough.

Proof, if proof were needed, that we should drop Brownhill and start with Hannibal as players who are not Josh Brownhill are more likely to score. All makes perfect sense.

Worth noting that despite all the accolades James Trafford has received this season, he's conceded more goals by far than any other Burnley goalkeeper.

Just caught up on the thread.
Very funny indeed.
Never seen the stuff posted by Greenmile either. The exchange on the days in a week and going to the gym is hilarious.

As an interesting aside and I find this an incredible statistic (but I have double checked it and it’s 100% factual). In the history of the playoffs - across all 3 divisions - no team finishing in 9th place has ever lost a play off final in that season. Right now that gives plenty of hope and optimism for Blackburn who sit only 1 point behind 9th place.
