Re: Name the ex Claret
Given the clues, I'd suggest it has to be Billy Wright who played one game for us at Wimbledon in the Group Cup in 1982.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 9:27 amCorrect with the name but the records on this site show he made 1 first team appearance.

I think of him in the same bracket as Mark Allen, who scored in his one and only league appearance at Exeter.

Two appearances in the league plus the one against Wimbledon in the League Cup, all as a substitute.Culmclaret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 9:35 amI think of him in the same bracket as Mark Allen, who scored in his one and only league appearance at Exeter.

It is Billy Wright. He commented on a message from Phil Cavener on FB about the passing of Andy Wharton so I lifted a pic from his profile.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 9:34 amGiven the clues, I'd suggest it has to be Billy Wright who played one game for us at Wimbledon in the Group Cup in 1982.

Re: Name the ex Claret
I wouldn't have got it but for the Wolves clue. He was a prolific goalscorer in the reserves for us but never got that first team chance. He played for a couple of other clubs before leaving England and playing in Australia and New Zealand.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 9:43 amIt is Billy Wright. I've seen him play then! Sadly don't recall him though.
I did my best to forget that cup game at Wimbledon.

It was horrendous wasn't it? I've just looked up the team that night, and Brian Miller was giving some of his team a rest. It was: Billy O'Rourke, David Miller, Phil Ray, David Holt, Paul DIxon, Colin Anderson, Derek Scott, Phil Cavener, Billy Wright (Mark Allen), Eric Potts, Kevin Young.Buxtonclaret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 10:02 amI've seen him play then! I didn't know the team. ( as few apart ). It was a wet, horrible evening & I couldn't even get a program!! The local Camden lads I'd got to come with me never let me hear the last about it for weeks.

Horrific performance. I'm sure I travelled to this game in your car Tony, if I recall correctly.

Re: Name the ex Claret
I travelled on the Supporters coach that night and had the 'pleasure' of sitting next to a gentleman well known in Burnley for his alleged leadership of a hooligan group with the 2nd name of Squad.

Australians use a 570 ml pint glass also. If you ask for a beer you are most likely to get a schooner.

That’s definitely a pint. Schooners are straight-ish glasses. They don’t have that bulge near the top.
