The One and Only
No, not the Chesney Hawkes song, but on the back of my "Name the Claret" post earlier, where Billy Wright had made his one and only Burnley appearance away at Wimbledon, how many others can we name who played just a single game for the Clarets? I don't know the answers, so opening up to nominations. 2 from me to start the ball rolling:
Tony Woodworth played his only game v Hereford Utd in 86/87 season and conceded 6 goals
Doug Hodgson who we had on loan from Sheffield United and I think fractured his cheekbone on his debut mid 1990s.

Re: The One and Only
Don’t recall Danny Drinkwater making many appearances for us
Wasn’t it Sunderland in the cup defeat?

Re: The One and Only
When the lad made his debut off the bench , I was sat near the home dugout , Steve Cotterill put his arm round the lad as we attacking the Bee Hole End and gave him the following tactic pointing at the Bee Hole End
“Duane , when you get the ball , run like f—ck that way “

Dave Burnley made his one and only appearance as a substitute in Spain and scored twice, no other player has done that

Re: The One and Only
As well as the opening day thumping at Hillsborough didn’t Penney also come on in the home game (v Wigan?) when Beast got injured (some doubted this) when conceding a soft goal ? At least that’s how I remember it.

John Borland?
Ginger midfielder that played away at York (my nearest game!) in the mid-90s - don’t remember any other times he featured

Re: The One and Only
Penny also played the League Cup game at Hartleppool.
I think I can recall John Borland coming on one evening on the Turf (against Crewe?) when the Longside was being redeveloped. I was sitting next to some old geezers who were clearly scouting. After Borland's first touch, they shook their heads, tutted and upped and left.
That's how I remember it, but no idea how accurate the memory is.
Edit - Wikipedia says he only made the single appearance so looks like that my memory here is shady.

Ian Patterson
Played one game for us at Bristol Rovers in the Jimmy Mullen era. He later became a property developer in London and was a client of mine at one time. His son, Willem Tomlinson, played a few games for the 'stewards down the road.

Willie Brown, centre forward in the youth cup winning team, played once as substitute, probably in 69.

Re: The One and Only
Can we make a team? I-XI or thereabouts?
I suppose it lives or dies by a one app goalkeeper so Tony Woodworth which is before my time but serves as a starting point takes the Keeper spot.
Can we get the rest done?
