The BbC comments board normally has plenty of pathetic comments from trolls and poor losers. This lot stand out as the bitterest sore losers of the lot. Their goal was a joke of a decision and they were well beaten again.

Latest “theory” from their fans is that because the ref is a Wednesday fan, that is the reason he favoured us yesterday

weirdest fan base in the entire EFL, they try to fake a rivalry with every team they play because literally nobody other than them gives a toss about them. Epitome of a nothing club.

A couple of seasons back when we tried to sign a player off them and they tried to create a rivalry, I mentioned it to my West Brom mate, he said they are desperate for a rival. None of the Birmingham clubs are interested in Coventry and to the east Leicester have no interest in them either. Coventry had to get relegated to Div 4 to be able to win a promotion , took them 50 years to gain a promotion. Granted they were in the top flight for a while , doing nothing more than surviving.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 6:31 pmweirdest fan base in the entire EFL, they try to fake a rivalry with every team they play because literally nobody other than them gives a toss about them. I wasnt there yesterday but my dad commented on how angry and how much they seemed to hate us, seemed odd.
Re: Coventry City FC clich "Best Whinging Club" award
They are a strange bunch. Remember the weirdness when we were supposed to be interested in O'Hare.
Re: Coventry City FC clich "Best Whinging Club" award
I think we should just ignore them and send them all to Coventry. Now I know where the saying comes from

I know you were joking but the history anorak in my had to reply (sorry).
The Parliamentarians (Roundheads) established a large prisoner of war prison in Coventry during the English Civil War…. Captured Royalists were sent to Coventry away from the fighting.

It’s standard Lampard. Great start but as soon as a few defeats happen he can’t turn it round.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 10:43 amGot confronted by a group of four as I went to my car-they thought it was a dirty game and that as usual we had been very physical. I asked them, why with Frank Lampard as their manager , they did not keep it more on the floor. I could not believe that a club pushing for play offs could be so direct-they hit endless high balls out from defence, which CJ and Esteve handled well. I think they got carried away recently with their run, but now I believe its 3 losses in a row and I can now see Frank crumbling after good recent publicity about their rise up the table

So different from the Bristol City fans. I had a look at their message board after we beat them last week, and almost without exception they were very impressed by us. Many of them thought we were a better side than Leeds and Sheffield United

To be fair it was a very different performance to the one against Bristol City.lakedistrictclaret wrote: ↑Sun Apr 06, 2025 7:35 pmSo different from the Bristol City fans. Should be an added incentive for the lads to make sure we don’t get them in the play offs by going up automatically.

Few seasons ago a group of us went to see us play there and decided to make a night of it and stay over.
It was ****, and was back at the hotel in tomato watch Match of the Day.
We said then and ever since, now we know why people are sent to Coventry. There’s **** all to do there

Re: Coventry City FC clich "Best Whinging Club" award
Definitely one of the strangest fanbases in football.
Seem desperate for a club to be rivals with, when nobody in football cares about them. As has been mentioned the booing of Maatsen a couple of year ago was one of the oddest things for fans to do at a game. Their bitching over the weekend has been non stop but are perfectly fine with their goal.

Re: Coventry City FC clich "Best Whinging Club" award
The biggest set of insufferable clowns since Stockport back in the day.
We had every right to boo the officials off after that goal and countless poor and soft decisions. Edwards was taken out on the touchline after knocking the ball past their left back..not even a word and it's a booking any other game. Their right back looked to jump into a tackle on the other side..nothing. Yet it was them booing.
The ref was poor..and was guessing a lot both ways but I suppose when chasing a game against a team that knows expertly how to slow it down he wasn't the ref they needed hence their frustration. All very very OTT.
I have a theory about why they are like they are. 15/20 years ago I remember going to the Ricoh and it was sparsely attended. Robins brought them back up the leagues and they've gained a new set of fans that know nothing but success and dominance. They've hit a wall now and we are part of it. This developed sense of entitlement has them massively frustrated. Like spoilt children. Nothing club.

A lot of them are even debating that because it comes off Roberts. Displaying a blatant lack of knowledge of the offside law....or more likely..just being deluded f**kwipesTHEWELLERNUT70 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 07, 2025 6:13 pmI did , I even put the screengrab of it on their official FaCEfu*k page for them all to see![]()

But don't you need two opposition players there if the attacker is beyond the goalie?

Re: Coventry City FC clich "Best Whinging Club" award
The debate should be over, as the Cov player shot before it hit Roberts, the goalscorer is beyond every Claret interfering with play as he so close to Trafford. Offside. His look across to the lino said it all as he couldn't believe his luck. It matters not as the Sunday papers and Sky Sports showed the score as 2 1 to us. Mr Fishy has some great points and it showed Ref lost it slightly and it affected both sets of fans view of his performance. Onwards to Derby

Re: Coventry City FC clich "Best Whinging Club" award
Just to fully clarify that the goal was offside here is the relevant wording from the FA rule book
Its offside if the player is:
"gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent when it has:
rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar, match official or an opponent"
The laws appear to conflict slightly re the ball coming off a match official as it should be a dropped ball.

Just spotted this whopper on another forum..
''What a horrible "anti-football" side they are. Against us on Saturday the ball was only in play for 50% of the match duration. Timewasting for the whole second half, cynical fouls, play acting, you name it, horrible to watch and the ref was useless. Just booked a few of our players for showing frustration at his inept performance and then sent off Frank, good on him for telling the ref what he thought. Parker then has the audacity to hark on about Wright being offside and how disappointed he was with the ref - well it was the linesman's call and he was 100% offside BUT what about the defender saving the shot before the goal with his arm which was a clear handball and could have been a red too! Maybe just easier to let the goal stand than send a player off after 4 mins and give a penalty which Wright would have scored...
I don't want them to be promoted but it would be funny seeing them get immediately relegated as none of that nonsense will wash against better sides and better refs with VAR. I've seen more entertaining non-league sides and would be embarrassed if that's the level my club has to sink to to try to get promoted despite having all the parachute money. Special mention to Hannibal and Sarmiento for their stand out cheating and play acting, the worst of a bad bunch.''

They should be happy they've got a ground to play on at a decent level after the way club was shafted by previous owners and the fiasco of playing home games in Gillingham

They really do deserve a raft of awards if this chump has decided they were the best of a cheating team Don Revie would have been proud of.
