First two 45's I bought were 'Save the last dance for me' by The Drifters and 'Dream Lover' by Bobby Darin. Both released in UK in 1960 I believe.

Re: Favourite Record in the 60s or 70s
The songs of the 60's and 70's all have great memory's so to pick one out would be hard to pick as each have different meanings to me, but one record from the 60's that I sometimes think about with great fondness even though it was broken over my head by my Mum. As the 60's became the 70's and i was about 12/14 yrs old my Mum held a coffee morning for a cancer charity and I had been listening to several records some music some comedy, ah how comedy can direct a young person to do something he thought was funny but my Mum did not, when questioned I began to sing
''And he wrote slogans
"Down with young mothers" that was one
'Cause he don't think our mum knows how to bring us up right
I don't think so either
You know every night when we're wide awake, she makes us go to bed
And in the morning when we're fast asleep, she makes us get up''
So what possible crime did I commit that resulted in it being smashed over my cocky head as a result of what could have possibly have happened at the coffee morning ?

Re: Favourite Record in the 60s or 70s
I must be older than I thought when I put in some words of a song by Terry Scott ''My Brother' who put salt in the sugar Bowel , well that would be me Mum , Mum ''why ''because of the record ''give it to me '' said Mum I did she then broke it over my head , Not sure if thats allowed now a days but I did not listen to that record again!!!
I agree that the list of songs on here would make a great Play list
