Crystal ball springs to mind.
Why does it if I'm talking about a few weeks ago?

Football has always been a game that throws up fairytales.

9/10 years after the goal against Wigan. Barnes could have the chance to seal us promotion again

My next putting my head above the parapet was to suggest Edwards as a 10
That thought crossed my mind watching the game on Tuesday night too🤔

Edwards as a number 10 was what I was also thinking

Oh no. He can't start a game these days apparently, so it'll have to be a super sub goal!

I'll take that tbf! :D

NOT dislocated, but a joint issue, seeking a second opinion.

Parker confirms not as bad as thought, not a dislocation. Getting second opinion and might play again this season.

Wrap him in cotton wool, until the Millwall game?

That is good news indeed. Having had a severe dislocation (where the ball joint ended up trapped in my rib cage) I can confirm it is incredibly painful… and not something you get over for some time. Despite an operation
, twenty years later I still get pain in it every day, and it pops out every year or so. Would not wish that on anyone. Even if he has just stretched the tendons he will need to be careful for the next few weeks though, Hopefully with strapping he’ll be ok.

Not out of the question that we get Millwall in the play-offs
On that topic, if it came to that, would Flemming be eligible to play?

Obviously he wouldn’t against Millwall, but would he be against other opponents?

In the 2009 playoffs, Rhys Williams wasn’t able to as his loan had expired

My understanding (I could be wrong) is that a season loan is just that and he would be eligible for the playoffs. I think Rhys Williams was different because it was a monthly one or soemthing maybe?

It’ll be his AC joint. Get it needled and he’ll be fine to play next week.

I commented further up the thread that I’d done this playing and was hoping it was this and not a dislocation. 2-3 weeks out tops

If his second opinion is a surgeon and it is his AC joint he may end up with surgery and if it is an AC joint damage even with conservative treatment cant see him back within 4 weeks to play football.
Dr. Google says can return to sport once pain free and full range of movements.
Not a criticism but an observation the lad may be affected mentally by the sequence of injuries he has had recently too. Hope not and hope the second opinion is reassuring BUT.....
And we have no idea what the first opinion was.

How many goals would we be short now in the league if he had been out for all of this season?

I can answer that for you, 2. I think we can survive without him at Millwall just fine.

I posted a thread many years back on Barnes and his goals. Of his first 50 only one was 3 touches and that was a bobble. He is truly a striker, 1 touch or 2 touches and bang. Unless our widemen start getting early balls in lower he will struggle. Feed him and he’ll do the job.

Although Barnes and the final game are fallbacks, it feels logical to target 3 wins and 1 draw from our next 4 games with Flemming in the side. That would mean we would be definitely promoted with a draw against Millwall (unless we get a 15-0 Sheffield win somewhere along the way).

For some reason I feel more confident writing that.

p.s. I’m assuming Lyle is out, obvs.

He’s undoubtably a big miss as a squad player but it’s clear he’s not an Eur 11 million striker. We were always likely to likely to be short up front.

It’s good news he maybe back but I think Barnes could do a job in his absence simply because even at the age he is he is better at leading the line than Foster. It is another example of someone who overall is not as good as other players but is good at what needs to done, which is roughing up centre halves, getting us up the pitch with sh@t housery and being a presence. And of course I mean not as good given his age.

Saying that I think Foster has had a decent season up front and out left just not in the position required.

How can a total of 2 goals be a decent season for a striker?

He’s been pretty hopeless ever since we signed him , nowhere near good enough , inconsistent and injury prone. Hopefully we move him on and he’ll earn a good living from the fame for sure , but not at prem level .
