Wilder is March Manager of the Month

Post by ClaretTony » Fri Apr 11, 2025 12:02 pm

Beat Scott Parker to it - both teams had 13 points from five games during the month.

A double for the Blades - Tyrese Campbell is player of the month.

Wouldn't mind Scott taking April's, after winning every game left to play in the month.

Didn’t SD keep missing out on manager of the month despite the fact we kept winning? When he finally got it we lost, or something like that.

Wilder is also bell end of the month for March, for his antics after the Steel City derby. Pillock.

This. One thing worse than a bad loser is a bad winner. This guy has the ability to do both. He has to mention they’re on 85 points in every interview but unfortunately it doesn’t matter how many times he says it, it never matches the league table.

Sean Dyche won it in September 2013 then not only didn't lose, but won the following month's award!

Just been perusing the SU message board, and the train of thought is that Wilder is exhibiting signs similar to his previous exit, when it was rumoured he suffered some sort of breakdown.

I haven’t seen Wilders post match interview against Millwall, but that has been mentioned, as well as apparently snatching a team sheet off someone and then there was the pop at his own fans at Oxford.

Being a fan and manager at the same time must be difficult to juggle, with the emotion and stress involved. Whilst we’re loving Sheffield United imploding this past few weeks, I hope it’s not because of, or at the expense of, Wilder’s MH.

I don't fully understand the criteria for the award?

Bearing in mind that Wilder has already received the award twice this season, Parker had exactly the same record in March but also unbeaten for 20 odd games with the well publicised clean sheet record and defensive record of only 12 goals conceded at that time.

The award has gone to 3 out of the top 4 every month apart from one when Rowett quite rightly won it in January.

Wilder (3) Farke (2) and Le Bris (2) with Parker no wins so far.

BTW this isn't a slight on any of the winners just wondering how they decide the winner, I can only assume its because they went top after the Cov match?

August Régis Le Bris Sunderland
September Chris Wilder Sheffield United
October Régis Le Bris Sunderland
November Chris Wilder Sheffield United
December Daniel Farke Leeds United
January Gary Rowett Oxford United
February Daniel Farke Leeds United
March Chris Wilder Sheffield United

Sheffield United won their march games by 8 goals to 3, we won ours 10-2, so on goals scored, goals conceded and goal difference Parker beats Wilder and still comes second.

Let him polish his shiny 3 manager of the month awards whilst he is gearing up for a new season in the championship. Well done Chris. At least you ended Wednesday’s season don’t forget. You can’t polish a turd.

Scott parker will receive the EFL manager of the season, but he will leave in the summer, his job done, and Ruben Albes will be the new Burnley FC manager.

The problem with also being a fan is that there is emotion involved. Parker can detach himself and remain calm, which Wilder can’t do so much.

I wouldn’t necessarily call him a tosser, he’s just guilty of letting his emotion get the better of him, which we all do from time to time. Obviously there’s no excuse for bad behaviour.

A lot of the Sheffield United fans can see this which is why they think a change is needed.

I can understand him getting involved at the end - football is an emotional game and sometimes seeing the opposition celebrating can rile you up.

What I cant understand is him thinking, no matter what his state of emotion was, that conducting a team talk on the pitch is anything but a terrible idea. It’s probably the first rule of what not to do as a manager.

I bet Wilder isn’t dancing on the table with the SU fans tonight. Plymouth should have had a penalty when SU defender had his arms wrapped round the Plymouth player like a long lost lo lover and dragged him down No Penalty where do these championship officials come from

I didn’t catch much of their game today but I saw his interview with the studio presenter and pundits before the game and I thought he was putting on a jovial act. He was trying to appear calm and humorous but it didn’t seem natural. The pressure has clearly got to him and fortunately for us it seems to have rubbed off on his squad.

I appreciate he’s a fan, but I’ve been pretty astonished by how much he’s let his emotions get the better of him in the past week or so. His diatribe against the fans was ill-advised to say the least, compounded by the fact that he was going after the away supporters who had travelled to Oxford. He’s also been overly defensive of his own abilities and, bizarrely, keeps referring to their points total without the two point deduction. Today’s post match reaction also suggests he can’t keep his emotions in check. All a bit Keegan-esque and this loss of control has clearly transmitted to the team. Stark contrast to Parker’s professional and businesslike approach.

Thank God that Wilder didn’t become our manager. I think that he was in running for it a few, or several, years back.

It would have been given as a foul (high tackle) in a rugby match. That says it all.
