Re: Today's football
100%. As much as everyone wants Leeds to fail this current Sheff Utd team are so dislikeable. Horrible manager, horrible style of play, so many players that I wouldn't want anywhere near our team.
And now they're kicking off with Plymouth in the tunnel, led by the manager. Sums them up.

Get in!
Said it from day one, Burnley and Leeds are the two best sides in the league. Best squads, best managers. Nothing is guaranteed of course and there could/will be more twists. But it seems quality and consistency is rising to the top.
Could be a straight one-on-one for the title.

Bradford City 3-4 up going into added time. Lose 5-4 after having their captain sent off after 14mins.
Joe Westley came on at HT. Michael Mellon wasn't on last I checked.

Wilder, tell us about those 2 points again? That would leave you 3 points behind with worse GD...

Leeds had their slip up at the right time. Sheffield United are having their slip up at the wrong time.

Re: Today's football
There is a big difference between a loss and a draw from Sheffield today. One point would have meant four behind instead of five. Now a point at Watford instead of a win will still mean we’re promoted next Monday if we beat them regardless if they win next Friday. Just need to hold our nerve.

What a weekend!
Nobody gave Argyle a hope but they've shown real balls and helped us huge time.

A few bans for Sheff Utd would be the cherry on top of an extremely large cake...
Re: Today's football
I imagine Sheff U will probably need to win all their remaining matches to stand any chance of finishing top 2. Even then, 2 wins and a draw from our other 3 matches would see us finish above them in goal difference. It’s not over yet but our form probably needs to collapse from here.

Re: Today's football
Beat Watford on Friday and I think that's almost it. Saying that though given Wilders antic's at full-time today, bo!!ocking the players on the pitch in full view of everyone and then fighting in the tunnel it could well be Sheffield Utd done already after 0 points from their last 9!

Re: Today's football
Our magic number is 7. That is the total number of points that we need to win or Blades drop. So even if they win all four games we will need two wins and a draw from our 3. Obviously if we beat them ont turf then we only need 1 point from our remaining games. Looking very good but quite over yet

Re: Today's football
We play first on Friday. 3pm. Sheff Utd 5.30pm, Leeds 8pm. Do our job at Watford and we go 8 clear of 3rd.

Stanley lead v Tranmere. PV lead v Bromley, in their chance to have beaten all other 91 top teams.

Re: Today's football
At the top of the table more than 1 point per game is almost impossible to make up, especially with just 4 matches remaining. Of course, as the magic numbers table shows, we still need to get, (or them to lose) 7 points to be mathematically certain!sleeperclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 2:33 pmAbsolutely. Statistically, it made little difference whether it was a draw or loss, but psychologically is devastating for them. If Sunderland win today the Blunts will be closer to 4th than 2nd.
Re: Today's football
Who just happened to have gone right over to the Sheffield United fans to have their celebration. Not a lot to see there, really.simonclaret wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 3:03 pmWhy's he facing up to two Plymouth lads happy with a home win?

Re: Today's football
Just watch Plymouth’s winner. He spins him on the half way line and the Blades player just jogs back. No way our players would do that. When we lose the ball we go all out to get back.

Stanley 3 Tranmere 0
Re: Today's football
Superb that Sheffield lost again. 5 points clear of them plus one for the goal difference. 5+1 point cushion with 4 to go.
Pity we have to play them, however, we are better, if we take our chances.
They appear intent on securing a chance of Wembley.
It does show the stresses the teams play under, at this time of the season.

Want Watford to lose so that they are completely out of the picture for the play offs.
So nothing for them to play for when we play them
