Re: Rooney to Blackburn
Perhaps the Venkys think theres still time for a relegation and saturday got them twitchy.
Personally i think they have left it too late to get relegated this year, but hopefully he gets a good shot at it next year

This would be too much hilarity for us to take ... please let it happen.
Then again the current idiot has them rock bottom of the form guide so leave him where he is, maybe bring rooney in as his assistant.

They missed out on Beckham and Ronaldinho. Maybe now is their time to land that global superstar.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Tue Apr 15, 2025 8:05 pmEven those idiots couldn't be that stupid.... could they?![]()

Re: Rooney to Blackburn
Can’t see that happening
Re: Rooney to Blackburn
They have had some big names linked with them over the years. Going back to Stapleton, Ardiles, Lineker, Hughes, Zidane, Dugarry, Salgado and more recently Lewandowski, Maradona, Ronaldinho, Beckham and Jon Dahl Tomasson.
With that in mind, Rooney to Blackburn makes sense on paper. The shame for them is that he's not much cop at the important bit...the actual managing part. I can't see it happening. He would bring too much attention and media spotlight on that ownership.

Let's not forget the true big name stars they signed such as Salgado, Gabbi and Murphy.
Clearly they made the most out of all their prize money.

It smacks of something they've made up themselves so they've got something to moan about after a good win on Saturday.

Re: Rooney to Blackburn
I remember some of those names being mentioned, although without any credibility or realism, but when the hell has Maradona been linked?! He’s been retired nearly 30 years, and dead for five. I don’t know, perhaps he nearly joined you for your 1980 3rd division promotion push, but at the last minute chose Barcelona.Hutchy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 15, 2025 11:05 pmThey have had some big names linked with them over the years. Maybe you're confusing Maradona with Sheffield United.
Not sure Zidane's ever heard of Blackburn to be honest.

Re: Rooney to Blackburn
Maradona got linked as a manager when Venky's took over, I think. Venky's have really raised the global profile by taking them away from gravy swillers like Allardyce and Dunn and into the international realm with stars like El Diego, Ronaldinho and David Beckham now inextricably linked with the club.

A lot of people presuming it would be going in as the manager.
They might want him as a player

Re: Rooney to Blackburn
Didn't Walker turn down Zidane as they already had Sherwood?
Re: Rooney to Blackburn
Good call then. However, got a shy lad lacking self-confidence instead of an ego-centric gobsh*ite.Alanstevensonsgloves wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 12:05 pmDidn't Walker turn down Zidane as they already had Sherwood?

Rooney has too much money to be desperate enough to go to that Place of Misery

Re: Rooney to Blackburn
He must have heard of Rovers, because near the end of a final the Italian player who had been nigglilng him throughout the game with comments about his mother and sister finally got to him when he whispered "You're only good enough to play for Blackburn Rovers..." and the consequent headbutt saw Zidane sent off.

Re: Rooney to Blackburn

Wasn't Lewendowski actually on his way from Poland but the flight was cancelled due to the fallout from the Icelandic volcano eruption?
Next thing you know he signed for Bayern Munich.
Damn!
