Lewis Richardson

Post by ClaretLoup » Sat Apr 12, 2025 7:41 pm

Scored a brace today in York’s 7 - 2 win vs Aldershot. He now has four goals in seven starts + 2 sub appearances.

York haven’t lost any of the games he has appeared in.

I met a York fan on the train on the way home from the Bristol game who said they really like him at York, he’s playing really well, apparently he plays for them on the right wing.

It’s really great to see that he seems to have recovered from his injuries and lengthy time out of the game and is making a positive impact at a decent level.

I think his contract is up at the end of the season, does anyone know the state of play re this?

How old is he?
I remember him being linked with the big boys at 15/16

At 22 he should be in the eye. Poor lad has had so many injuries. Set him back years.

Let's hope this is it.

They don’t to be fair, two completely different types of player. Westley is an out and out striker. Richardson can play in a number of positions.

Wasn’t happy with Westley being heavily involved in the goading of the Bradford lad who had scored a 90+og to give Swindon a 5-4 win.
Personal opinion but no justification ever. A hefty kick in the ******** once in the tunnel should stop it.

The Bradford player had clearly been giving plenty out.

Tony - you’ve seen more of them than most of us I suspect. I’ve seen Westley only once and Richardson 3 times but only once before injuries started to pile up. Who’s the most likely to progress would you say? Age appears to be on Westley’s side but I honestly thought Richardson looked the better footballer (I get I’ve seen very little of the pair of them!)

I thought Richardson was going to go all the way but he’s had so many injury issues. I thought, having come back after another injury this season, he was playing really well for the u21s up to his loan move. Whatever happens to him now, I hope he can remain injury free.

Westley is a goal scorer, no doubt about that. He’s young still but with that ability he should have a good career. It’s at what level he can continue to score goals.

Looks like they both have a promising future in football, if Lewis can stay injury free.

I think the best we can hope for is a small fee and a sell on clause with players in this bracket.

Could well see them work their way up to the championship over the next 10 years, who knows.

Swindon are my former local team so when Burnley aren’t playing I watch their games instead. The defender who scored the own goal had a few minutes earlier dived to the floor to try and get the big strike Smith sent off and goaded him when Bradford scored their equaliser so with that context the behaviour was justified imo.

Cheers for that, enlightening. Still think two wrongs don’t make a right.

No, fair point but in the emotive environment of a late goal I think regular impulsive behaviour will happen

I was impressed with Fowler when I saw him a few years back. He's at Stockton now but scored a lot of goals at that level.
Still only 23.
