With Brownhill and Hannibal playing we're giving them too much room in midfield . I'm sure the boss will be sorting it out at H/T .

Re: Match thread v Watford
Anthony was outstading for the goal. His touch to bring the ball down and then to put that cross in...phenomenal.
Great header from ZF.
All, following an unbelievable stop from JT.

Agreed re Edwards. I think he'll eventually win us a penalty, they are terrified when he gets in the box

About 5 minutes before this it looked like the main camera had fallen off its tripod. And that's on sky
Some awful production so far

Hannibal, Edwards and Brownhill all been off it today.
Hoping for a better second half but very happy with the goal to get us back in it. Credit to Watford in that first half.

Nothing will happen at half time but would be Hannibal for Laurant and get Brownhill in the 10 where he belongs

Laurent for Hannibal at half time IMO.

Re: Match thread v Watford
Anything other than the 10 or the attacking midfielder and Brownhill is playing out of position
Re: Match thread v Watford
Parker is under pressure here. Do nothing and hope everyone gets over their 1st half hangover ? Or make some changes to try and influence a more positive performance ?
This is why he gets paid the big bucks. Not sure what the right course of action is but he'll be slaughtered either way if we get beat.

Re: Match thread v Watford
Laurent has to come on. We've been appalling in midfield. More holes than Swiss cheese. He tried Hannibal and Brownhill earlier in the season, it didn't work. It still doesn't work. Laurent gives us so much more balance.

Edo Kayembe - good player.
Re: Match thread v Watford
Just seen the replay of our goal...that has to be "assist " of the year from Anthony. Brilliant !

Don't think he'll change anything at h/t, however he may well change it after 60mins or soTufty wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 3:56 pmParker is under pressure here. Do nothing and hope everyone gets over their 1st half hangover ? Or make some changes to try and influence a more positive performance ?

Re: Match thread v Watford
Thought Trafford should have stopped the goal but made two great saves to redeem himself. We are lucky to be level. Brownhill looks knackered. Even when we scored he was just jogging forward after his near disastrous blind pass that nearly led to a second goal
Re: Match thread v Watford
I'm still angry that Sky cost me my goal yell. I could hear the damn crowd and couldn't believe they weren't going live.

Re: Match thread v Watford
I'd have expected Hannibal today and Laurent on Monday, believing that Sheff U would be bigger thugs, but the way the game has gone we need Laurent on second half, push Brownhill behind Flemming and give Edwards another 15 mins to produce then hook him for Sarmiento or Koleosho.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 3:39 pmOnly gripe I've had with SP this year, not sure why Laurent got dropped for today's game?
Yes Hannibal played well last game, but our biggest threat all year has been JB, who plays his bet stuff further forward.
We had our best run of results with Cullen-Lauret and Brownhill ahead of them (or with Cullen as a single pivot). Frustrating.

I Saïd a week or so ago but I’ll say it again, I have never seen a player at Burnley with a better first touch than Anthony

Re: Match thread v Watford
So far Edwards the liveliest by far, but mainly it hasn’t come off for him, he looks nervous, but still causing panic.
Hannibal and Brownhill poor, really affected our flow.
Couple of mistakes from Esteve too, must be nerves.
Trafford (depending on result) the moment of the season along with the Sunderland penalties. Really was a vital 30 seconds. Now need to deliver 2nd half.

Took me back to the days of ‘RADIO LANCASHIRE….GOAL ACTION!’ in as much as I could hear the crowd celebrating a goal but had no idea which way it had gone.

Perhaps that was the thinking, yeah. Think he could have done two games in succession after a good week off, though.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 3:59 pmI'd have expected Hannibal today and Laurent on Monday, believing that Sheff U would be bigger thugs, but the way the game has gone we need Laurent on second half, push Brownhill behind Flemming and give Edwards another 15 mins to produce then hook him for Sarmiento or Koleosho.

Re: Match thread v Watford
Definitely need more in midfield. When we play with Hannibal slightly further forward and Brownhill further back, we effectively play with two out of position. Get Laurent on and Brownhill pushing close to Flemming. We're at our best that way.
Re: Match thread v Watford
Not an easy place to go Watford. Good home record. Hopefully Parker will sort us out and we can go on to nick it
Re: Match thread v Watford
And yet he shouldn’t from what he’s done so far, it’s football even the best teams get beat. And these end of season clashes deliver weird results, look at Sheffield Utd.Tufty wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 3:56 pmParker is under pressure here. But I agree , he may look and act cool, but he’ll be nervous inside.

We need to play like Champions this half.

Credit to Watford in that half, hopefully they run out of gas. Great play to equalise just before half time.
Re: Match thread v Watford
I first heard of Burnley in 2009, but I can imagine the experience.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 4:01 pmTook me back to the days of ‘RADIO LANCASHIRE….GOAL ACTION!’ in as much as I could hear the crowd celebrating a goal but had no idea which way it had gone.

That's a shame, good break on there
Re: Match thread v Watford
Not sure about that call on Hannibal.
Edit: Upon a second look, it was just about a foul.

Re: Match thread v Watford
Trafford collects shot along the ground but with 2 players laying in front of him any touch off them would have been a goal
Re: Match thread v Watford
Oh give over referee! You can’t just decide it’s a foul because we’re away on goal!

Re: Match thread v Watford
I’d add roberts to that from a defensive element, Parker will give them 15 m inside this half then make changes
Re: Match thread v Watford
I mean it probably was a foul but he wasn’t going to give it till he saw we might be through on goal! Shocking refereeing

FFS useless officials again
Hannibal coming back from off side position, makes no attempt towards ball, Lino flags and ref gives it

If we don't get promoted, it will be because we're appalling at defending and taking free kicks.

Flemming is winning us some good free kicks this half. Barnes has been teaching him well.
Just a shame we're absolutely dogger from a dead ball!
