He’s proud of his defensive record and wasn’t happy at being put under pressure by 9 men maybe.

Nerves must be getting to us. That was not a good team performance. 2 good goals and a vital win though. Trafford mom by a country mile.

That must be by far the worst refereeing performance of the season.
Shocking performance

But got the 4 yellows for the 2 reds spot on - although Kayembe could have had his 2nd yellow even sooner bizarrely

Even so, we've had worse referees. Some would have bottled those red card decisions. This one just bottled most other decisions. I'd give him a 3/10 - he was absolutely useless in general. Which all in all makes him one of the best this season

If ever you want to give an example of how football is psychological - show them Burnley desperate and nervous to win against 9 ment Watford with nothing to play for lol

Why because I think it shouldn’t have been so difficult to win against 9 men? We kept them in the game with naivety. Trafford won us the game in the end. Should have got a third before we started managing the game but a wins a win so I can’t be too unhappy.

I'm not surprised if Egan-Riley was unhappy at full time. He was absolutely fuming when he had to save us with that last ditch tackle. We managed the game horrendously when they down to 9 men.

The result is all that matters today though.

A word for Anthony's beauty of an assist. 8 assists now I think for the season, and 7 goals. Not bad at all given he's gotten sharper 2nd half of the season. Without the timing of that goal (great finish by flem too), it's much harder to go and win in the second half

He carried on playing after he knew full well the whistle had gone. Same as kicking the ball away. Clear yellow. Ref had basically a good game - only thing I thought he got clearly wrong was the Cullen yellow. Otherwise he made the right calls and managed a game that got heated well. If players lose the plot it's hardly his fault.

As for us, poor start, excellent middle 45 minutes and then a laboured finish against the 9 men. But we got the job done, scored two excellent goals and that's all that matters at this stage in proceedings.

He wasn’t happy about our midfield and forwards letting Watford past and having to defend when we should have kept the ball, so was venting his feelings towards them.

SP trying to calm him down and no doubt thanking him for his commitment.

Well, a win is a win, but I have no idea how 9 men can outplay 11 or even have chances on goal. On a positive, winning when you play as badly as we did is usually a sign of title winners and we now know that a win on Monday would see us promoted!

Hopefully the lads can take the positives from today whilst also recognising we will need to be much better against Sheff Utd.

Agree. In those moments you have to stop the game , settle it down, speak to the captains, and then make the necessary decisions - it doesn't mean you have to not give the cards that players deserve. When you show those cards before doing that then people lose their heads and it just escalates. Really immature performance

I didn't see the game But kept up with the score via the match thread but then had to stop reading due to all the negative comments so then had to make do withbbc scores.I did know how the game was panning out but my nerves were jangling keep seeing our game had not reached full time way last the 90 mins.Reading through this thread after the game then seeing they were reduced to 9 men and then seeing comments that it won't do we were hanging on blah blah let me say nerves will be getting to the players and to keep hold of the win is all that matters and for the record I've known us to lose to 9 men notably Sunderland and Rochdale and let in a late equaliser at Bradford many of us of a certain age will remember all too well.So shove your negativity it's 3 more viral points UTC
