Are we comparing Pope and Heaton at the height of their careers with a young goalkeeper who is still improving here?

Looks like it. Pope and Heaton have been fantastic England backup keepers. Outstanding pros. Trafford will be a fantastic England no.1 if he continues as he is.

Defo a touch. Only a fingertip, but enough to deflect the ball the tiny amount needed to make the ball bounce outwards from the bar as opposed to down and in.

Top save.

It's the first live shot that shows it most clearly. It looked like the ball deflected in real time. Slow motion shots from other angles are more blurry asnd the deflection is hard to see.

It's a save that was worth 2 goals, almost. From 0-2 to 1-1 in half a minute.
Trying to convince myself I've seen it now. Think I have :?

Huge turning point in the match. Up the Clarets.

Lots of frequent and prominent members of this board threw JT under the bus last season...
But most of them don't remember doing so.

None of them do! People got bans for starting threads that have now come to be widely accepted thoughts!

Joys of an Internet chat board.

Trafford's reaction to his save from Kayembe's shot makes me believe he did get a touch on it but I've watched it back several times and still can't see a touch.

It's bugging me :)

One of the angles (from side on) shows a clear change in the ball's spin/pace/height/flight after it passes Traff's hand.

It's a world-class save, up there with Heaton against United/Zlatan & Nick Pope against Palace/Benteke.

I think the expression "thrown under a bus" is ridiculous and over-used.
How could a bunch of posters have a seriously adverse affect on the performance of a professional footballer?
And as for the same description used in respect of Kompany's treatment of James Trafford: the lad obviously got what he signed for, PL football.

What are we thinking for Trafford? I think the bidding will need to start at around £40m

It was in before Trafford diverted it enough to hit the bar.
