Haven't they had a red card in their last 2 games at the Turf? As you say, you never know what might happen. Not too fanciful to say that we could be down in 3rd place when we kick off vs QPR.
I can’t remember the game in the Championship season but they definitely had someone (Mcburnie from memory) sent off early in the premier league game.

Wilder will have them right up for this one. I would put them more at risk of a red than us for that reason. We need to be calm and professional. No silly yellows, no professional fouls, no diving in - but also high energy and turn up for the game. That’s the balance to have! Which is easier said than done. Hopefully Parker pulls off another game management masterclass.

If our team can’t raise their game for a home game in front of a full house where a win will guarantee promotion to the biggest league in the world then they probably shouldn’t be in football, whether we have to win or not.
I agree, and I expect them to be up for it, but I also think in these situations the chasing team will inevitably have more motivation to just go for it.

Same as a second leg game when a draw will do for one team and the other needs the win. We have the challenge we also need to protect a potentially vital point.

Don’t get me wrong g though, I’d rather be in our situation than theirs.

I am sure the Clarets will turn up for the game totally prepared. Why wouldn't they?
I just hope our fans turn up in the right frame of mind. We need to be the 12th man from the first minute until the last....

It reads like 30 undefeated is something we haven't been very good at :D

Given it was Arsenal 'Invincibles' that broke the record, I wonder if any other teams have gone 30 undefeated in a Season.
Loathe as I am to say it "cough cough PNE were also invincibles cough cough" 1885/86 season ... mind you it was in the jumpers for goalposts era 🤣

How could we be? We are five points above them.

Sheff Utd play at Stoke on the Friday night. So if they win their next two, we'll be in 3rd by time we play QPR

1888/89, only 22 games played by each club that season though.

I think there was an incident with their keeper and a defender making a mistake in the corner by the cricket field and longside and one of them might have been sent off. Could be wrong though

We've won our last 4 against them
2-0
5-0
4-1
2-1

They should be worried about us

Yes we certainly seems to perform well against them of late. Can imagine Wilder will be hyper tomorrow and start with a very attacking line up. I hope he does, as I think this will work in our favour.

Reading went 33 undefeated in 2005-6 when they reached 106 points.

If you were to turn the situation around, how confident would you be for us to close a five point gap, with a far inferior goal diiference with three games to play, against a team who'd not lost for thirty matches and only conceded fourteen goals?

We started slowly against Watford. We need a bright start. I'm expecting a physical game against them. The crowd has to be on it. Supportive of everything. Back to cheering for throw ins in the opposition half. A few passes and on our feet. Pressure the ref from the start. Absolutely hammer him. Treat this like it is Bastards before we started our run against them.

I've watched them a few times, they have players that would be useful in our team. They don't really add up to the sum of their parts though. Wilder has been acting like a complete cock and he's done them no favours.

It should be an absolute cracker. If Parker chooses to close the game down alla Leeds then I will be impressed rather annoyed. Circumstances and opposition will make that an achievement. I don't think he will. I am expecting a proper old school tear up. Hannibal/Flemming/Connor/Barnes acting the shithouse is gonna be important.

I wouldn’t be confident at all. Conversely I’d be feeling pretty relaxed going into the game as I’d have probably given up on automatic promotion. The nerves would only kick in if we took the lead and I started foreseeing a way back to automatic promotion.

However, the fact that I wouldn’t be confident if we were in Sheffield United’s position has zero impact on how confident I am about our current situation. I know logic dictates that we’re clear favourites to get promoted and they even defeat tomorrow doesn’t take it out of our hands. The problem is that the prize is now so close and logic goes out of the window for me. I just feel nervous about it.

We need a maximum of 4 points from 3 games. I trust in the professionalism of our management and players to see us over the line

@agreenwood: “The problem is that the prize is now so close and logic goes out of the window for me. I just feel nervous about it”. Spot on!

Mind you, logic and football parted ways many years ago. Methinks the seeds of one strand of the schism were sowed 18 January 1961.

Premier League secured with a win tomorrow. We'll win the Championship Title v Millwall on 3 May cos I'm in the JMS and Leeds will only draw V Bristol City.
You saw it here first!!
