Anthony 9 (the work he did off the ball was brilliant, so aware when Pires got his yellow, took on the responsibility)

Re: Burnley v Sheffield United - Player Ratings
Trafford 8 - little to do but did it solidly
Roberts 7 - a bit caught out for their goal but did ok
CJER 8 - couple of nervy moments but also some fine passing and confidence, hope he signs but doubtful he is good enough to start
Esteve 10 - a masterclass from a player way, way too good for this level. Remember this is a ex Premier League attack more or less. Will be heartbroken if we sell him.
Pires 8 - super and appears to have improved defensively
Cullen 9 - I quite like Choundhury and Souza but Josh outclasses them in a similar position
Brownhill 9 - led from the front with his high octane energy and spirit
Hannibal 9 - I thought he was picked as a pre Premier League test and he handled it brilliantly, bravo
Edwards 8 - not content with leaving his fullback on his arse once, did it twice, and the latter led to the first goal
Anthony 7 - well marshalled
Flemming 8 - put himself about
Laurent 8 - was just about defence at that point
Well, we comfortably win the top three round robin with 3 wins and 1 draw from 4 games.
Also listened to the SSN paper review and the reporter suggested our style gives confidence we can stop up. Combine the round robin with that and it gives me hope we can avoid an instant return.
Felt Wilder ballsed it up today with 4 midfielders and 2 strikers and no real wingers. Plus a painfully slow LCB. That meant Edwards was only single marked for what feels like the only time this season and their fullback couldn’t handle him, dropped on his backside multiple times. It caused the chaos that led to the first goal. Ultimately as I have suspected for months (and the squad valuations do too) Sheff Utd weren’t good enough. e.g. compare Ahmedozich to Esteve - the former thought he may have handballed a bouncing ball, panicked, and chopped down Hannibal to end their hopes.
The best two are up, Parker is vindicated for his defensiveness. Some of our want away players in August will swap divisions with us. Players who stayed have been rewarded with a glorious promotion won in style at home. As Phil Bird may say, Justice!

Promoted. Yet another clinical display of Championship football led by the imperious Esteve, Hannibal and the captain. Wilder decided to go full ale house with his selection, and so it proved, with a flurry of long balls, long throws, and physicality that straddled the borderline between acceptable and out of order. We stood up to it all though, as we always do. Yet another magnificent achievement for this football club.

Well - waking up a premier league club, fantastic. A nervy 90 minutes yesterday which in fairness the whole team managed really well.
Trafford - 8
Roberts - 7
CJER - 8
Esteve - 10* - absolutely superb
Pires - 8
Cullen - 9 - he's been immense the last few weeks
Brownhill - 9 - he just has the knack of right place right time
Hannibal - 9 - by far his best performance in the shirt to date
Anthony - 7
Flemming - 8
Edwards - 7
Laurent - 8 - difficult to come on in a game like this and have an impact, he was superb
Congratulations to Scott and all the boys. A proper team ethic instilled by a manager who believes in the fundamentals of togetherness, a class act our manager. Got to stand by him next season through thick and thin.

Re: Burnley v Sheffield United - Player Ratings
Trafford. 8 Not much to do but looked so confident. Nowt he could do with the goal
Roberts 7. Less adventurous than in some home games but that was clearly the plan
Esteve. 9. Immense.
CJ ER. 8. A wonderful complement to Esteve
Pires. 7. Skillful and game. Sheff U targeted him but he stood up to it. One horrible slice in the second half
Cullen. 8. Metronomic as usual. Has eyes in the back of his head
Edwards 7. Can be frustrating and sometimes loses the ball in dangerous positions but he gives us another dimension
Brownhill 9. A complete captain’s performance. Poacher’s goal and so cool for the penalty
Hannibal 9 MoM. His best performance. They could not handle him. He was everywhere and looked a threat whenever he got the ball. Obviously loves the song!
Anthony 7. Not as potent as recently but he put in a fantastic shift. He was out on his feet at the end. Denied a goal by Flemming!
Flemming 7. Worked his socks off. Should have got out of the way of Anthony’s shot!
Laurent. 8. The right man at the right time!
Parker 10. Tactics spot on. Wilder decided to go physical and that played into our hands. Hamer is a special player but the rest are bang average. Nice to have had BBD as the pantomime villain! Fab atmosphere. What an evening!

I was absolutely fine last night..........right up until the point they equalised then for one of the only times this season the old nerves got the better of me.
To think that the records we'll inevitably now will break will mark this team down as one of the greatest teams in the second tier of English football ever !

Re: Burnley v Sheffield United - Player Ratings
From tv
Trafford 7 not a lot to do
Roberts 7 steady away
CJ 8 reads the game so well
Esteve 10 faultless, immense, a joy to watch
Pires 8 great forward link-up play with Anthony
Cullen 9 never put a foot wrong
Brownhill 10 captain marvel, every where on the pitch, a perfect role model for the younger players
Hannibal 9 his best game for us, he really is learning how to play for the team and not just for himself
Edwards 7 good first half then faded, right to be subbed for Laurent
Flemming 9 he gives everything for the team in that lone striker role
Anthony 8 great first half, not as effective in the second, though he did run his socks off
A fabulous first half performance where we looked like a team going up to the PL. They came at us in the second half but never really hurt us to any degree. Massive credit to Parker and his team for this achievement with such a young, inexperienced squad of players. Obviously, the work starts now to prepare for the PL: we will need some more physicality and quality in the team for next season, and I feel Parker and Pace will have learnt a lot from our poor showing last season and our blips this season. It’s going to be a great ride. So proud to be a Claret.

Re: Burnley v Sheffield United - Player Ratings
I never usually do this but when you win the game that gets you up it's 10 all round
Trafford 10: Don't think he could have stopped Cannon's shot. Made some good caught saves.
Roberts 10: Best game in recent weeks after a dip. Immense season.
CJER 10: On a par with his season-long excellence.
Estève 10: Magnificent. Elegance embodied. As said by Vino blanco, a joy to watch. Made in Montpellier, honed in Burnley.
Pires 10: Another fine performance.
Cullen 10: Cullenesque. Even indirectly set up our first goal with his shot.
Brownhill 10: Johnny on the spot yet again and no fear with the penalty.
Hannibal 10: Excellent. Now we're seeing just how good a footballer this lad is. Huge job done by SP and his staff with him.
Edwards 10: Best first-half I've seen him play since the other lot from Sheffield came to TM.
Flemming 10: First line of defence. Shirt got tested yet again.
Anthony 10: Ball wouldn't stick second half but worked his nads off.
Laurent 10: Did exactly what we needed. Was emotional at the end and showed how much it meant. Great signing.

Re: Burnley v Sheffield United - Player Ratings
What a night and a fantastic performance from The Clarets, in nigh on nullifying our close rivals in such a crucial contest. The nerves just about stood up to the test and it's still not quite sunk in. Now for the title!
