If Luton go down I'd definitely take Adebayo/Morris as squad players on the cheap as our 2nd/3rd choice striker
They haven't been good enough for the Championship this season

I expect to see a lot of links with players with ex-spurs connections.

Walker Pieters would be an obvious choice on a free. Troy Parrott could be a player we are interested in.

Word on the street is that we hold an interest in Kaine Kesler-Hayden, currently at Preston on loan from Villa.
Speaking to a PNE supporting friend who watches him every week, he thinks he’s brilliant. From the times I’ve seen him I have to say I was very impressed. I’d imagine Villa would want a large fee for him.

On the few occasions I’ve seen him play, Kesler-Hayden looks a talent and is incredibly quick.

Priorities:

1) Big, mobile, athletic striker that has an eye for goal (I appreciate these don't grow on trees)
2) Upgrades at fullback
3) A Josh Laurent upgrade (but he will remain an important squad player)

Salech from Cardiff would be my choice for a backup striker, Kaine Kesler-Hayden would also be a great addition at fullback.
I see it pretty similar…

Top priority

1) Lone, pacy, strong, aggressive striker. Andre Gray mould
2) A Josh Laurent upgrade but with increased quality on the ball with Laurent as the back up
3) A right back who can also play centre back to replace either Roberts or Egan Riley in the 11.

Next priority

4) Cullen rotation. An injury to Cullen would be a huge issue for us.
5) Wide option to replace Sarmiento’s role in the squad and challenge Edwards and Anthony (assuming both obligated to join)

Watching brief

6) Brownhill replacement should he not sign (although think Ramsey can be this)
7) Trafford Replacement should bidding reach £40m
8) Esteve Replacement should bidding reach £50m
9) CJ replacement if doesn’t sign but think he needs competition anyway

I’ve seen a lot of Sargent and he is nowhere near good enough for the EPL. We’ll need pace up top for counter attacks like Tella, Isidor, Mavididi or Baah.

We’ll need solid under appreciated pro’s who can create, like Sarabia, Darmstadt, or Barkley. And experienced EPL defenders like Krafth, Regulon and Trippier.

A new keeper bc either Trafford goes for big bucks or we need a solid challenger as #2, like Cooper or Hermansen.

There’s players that have impressed against us this year, KKH,
Salech, Vipotnik, Hamer and Kayembe (thought he was great against us despite being a nut job)

And then there’s Scott’s old boys like Tanganga, Skipp, Winks, Sessegnon, Lewis Cook, Jefferson Lerma, Ryan Christie, all sound decent players.

And then there’s my fantasy list like Vardy, Fullkrug and Tammy Abraham which would definitely need creative financing :) :) :)

Suspect CJ and Brownhill will either sign new contracts in next couple of weeks or we will move on to other options. As much as I’d like them both to stay, we afford to spend half the summer waiting for them to decide while they see if a better offer comes along.

We should be all over Ross Barkley at Aston Villa. Hardly ever gets a game for them and they will strengthen again in the summer. Very good ball playing midfielder who, with the right wingers/forwards, could be very influential.

He was impressive but they paid 9M for him 2 years ago and he still has 2 years left on contract. Not going to be cheap for a good championship player / unproven EPL player

He’s on a free. And still quick. If he fancied one more year he’d be a great outlet because obviously we are going to be under pressure and need someone to get us up the pitch.

Here’s who ChatGPT thinks we should sign…

1. Chuba Akpom (Striker - Ajax)
Out of favor at Ajax, but was the Championship Player of the Season in 2022–23. Would suit Burnley’s need for a mobile, clinical forward.

2. Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (Winger - Crystal Palace)
Injury-hit season but highly rated. A loan could be ideal if Burnley want Premier League-ready depth on the wing.

3. Ryan Giles (Left-Back - Luton Town)
Could be available if Luton are relegated. Offers pace and consistent delivery from wide areas — would bring balance to Burnley's defense and attack.

4. Tommy Doyle (Midfield - Wolves/Man City)
If Wolves don't make his loan permanent, Burnley should pounce. Technically gifted and full of energy — ideal for Parker’s midfield trio.

5. Japhet Tanganga (Defender - Free Agent?)
If Spurs release him, he’s a versatile, Premier League-experienced defender Burnley could sign on the cheap.

As far as I'm aware Humphreys, Edwards and Flemming are definitely coming in because "loan to be made permanent" was written into the original deal. Although Edwards was dependant on promotion Sarmiento isn't (thank goodness) and let's remember Ipswich used him last season and they chose not to keep him either. I think Egan Riley is going to be the difficult one because he'll definitely attract suitors and he's in prime position to hang fire and wait and see who comes in. However, ultimately no matter how brilliant he's been this season he's untried at PL level and whoever takes him would be taking a gamble (although a cheap one due to no transfer fee) It won't be a top 10 club I wouldn't have thought, so his best option might just be to sign on again with us.

I’ve just asked Deep Seek the Chinese insurgent AI bot and the answer is scarily good (which concerns me but that is another matter), albeit some laugh out loud suggestions. It’s like reading one of ClaretSpice’s posts for its thoroughness

Burnley FC, known for their robust defensive structure and pragmatic style under managers like Sean Dyche and now Scott Parker, should target players who can enhance their solidity while adding creativity and efficiency in key areas. Based on their recent promotion to the Premier League and the club’s historical preferences, here are some strategic signings that would align well with their playing style:

---

### **1. Defensive Reinforcements**
Burnley’s success has often been built on a strong defensive foundation. With Scott Parker emphasizing a "rock-solid team" , they should prioritize:
- **A Dominant Center-Back**: A physical, aerially strong defender to partner Maxime Estève (who has been a standout this season ). Potential targets could include players like **Jarrad Branthwaite** (if Everton face financial pressures) or **Tosin Adarabioyo** (Fulham), both comfortable in a structured defensive system.
- **A Versatile Full-Back**: Given Connor Roberts’ age (29) and the need for depth, a dynamic right-back like **Djed Spence** (Tottenham, on loan) could add energy and defensive reliability.

---

### **2. Midfield Steel and Creativity**
Burnley’s midfield needs a balance of tenacity and distribution to control games in the Premier League:
- **A Defensive Midfielder**: To complement Josh Cullen, a player like **Flynn Downes** (West Ham) or **Ibrahim Sangaré** (Nottingham Forest) could provide the grit and ball-winning ability Burnley relies on.
- **A Box-to-Box Playmaker**: With Parker hinting at a need for more attacking thrust , **Alex Scott** (Bournemouth) or **Jacob Ramsey** (Aston Villa) could offer dynamism and goal contributions.

---

### **3. Attacking Upgrades**
Burnley’s strikers must be physical and efficient, capable of holding up play and finishing chances:
- **A Target Forward**: **Kieffer Moore** (Bournemouth) or **Michail Antonio** (West Ham) would fit the traditional Burnley mold, offering aerial dominance and link-up play.
- **A Versatile Winger**: To replace outgoing loanees like Mike Trésor, **Jaden Philogene** (Hull City) or **Andreas Skov Olsen** (Club Brugge) could provide width and creativity.

---

### **4. Goalkeeper Depth**
While James Trafford has been exceptional , adding a reliable backup like **Daniel Iversen** (Leicester) would provide stability.

---

### **5. Budget Considerations**
Burnley’s net transfer balance was **+€53.32m** in 2024/25 , so they have room to spend. However, they should focus on value signings—loans, free agents (e.g., **Che Adams** if Southampton don’t renew), or Championship gems like **Jack Clarke** (Sunderland).

---

### **Key Traits to Prioritize**
- **Physicality**: Burnley’s system thrives on strength and aerial duels.
- **Work Rate**: Parker demands high commitment , so players must be defensively diligent.
- **Experience**: With a young squad, adding Premier League-proven players (e.g., **Craig Dawson** as a short-term CB option) could help.

By targeting these profiles, Burnley can build a squad capable of surviving in the Premier League while staying true to their identity. For detailed transfer rumours and valuations, refer to [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.com) or [BeSoccer](https://www.besoccer.com) .

Kelleher from Liverpool has been touted for a move away in the summer. Be interesting to see if Trafford goes whether someone of that caliber would be an option.
Very good keeper for a number two, not sure his value/cost

I wouldn’t be against this but not sure we need many more coaches and think Mike Jackson is currently in charge of defensive coaching.

Would love Ben back involved with the club but we do also have two young left sided CBs in Esteve and Humphreys so have to consider that too.

I hope you’re right. I’ve always liked Billing.

Feels like a player who would serve us well in the Premier League or championship if we went down. Napoli have a £9m option, he’s not played much so doubt they will take it. Only question would be resale is unlikely so would need to agree to a relegation wage cut.

There’s a balance to be had. The positive about targeting top end Championship players is there shouldn’t be a mass exodus of players wanting out should we get relegated.

I just sincerely hope lessons have been learned from 2 years ago.

Philip Billing and Harrison Reed would both be brilliant signings in my opinion, but we'd quickly look overstocked in midfield (unless Brownhill is leaving). I want to see Cullen start the season though - you cannot fairly judge his ability to step up based on the tactically naive manner we setup under Kompany in that league. We will certainly aim to be more pragmatic and conservative under Parker which I think would suit Cullen a lot more in a three.

We wanted and put in an offer for Billing earlier in the year, but he didn't want to drop into the championship. It'd be no surprise to see him turn up here now.

Not rumours but based on what I saw from them this season I'd like us to go for Ben Doak and Kane Kesler-Hayden as suggested above. Don't know how realistic though.

If there is any truth in Talech and Kaine Kesler-Hayden - I'd like both to get the ball rolling.

I think we all know what we need up front. There's a reason why we've struggled to replacd Wood, they're hard to find and finance.

I'm going to stick my neck out - but I really don't see CJER being so outstanding (might even be more likely to struggle) in the prem in a back 4. The answer could be to play a 3 and he fits wonderfully. I don't think Worrall is the answer in a 4, either. Perhaps in a 5, again.

If we play a as a 4 then I think we need a commanding CB, too.

They haven't been good enough for the Championship this season
We can't afford to buy 2/3 top quality strikers, we'll need some cheap options to fill the squad

IF we keep Esteve CJ Ekdal Worrall and Beyer as well as signing Humphreys that's plenty of quality to prioritise other areas first

I did capitalise IF

Think you will hear something good about CJ in the near future, we need another Cullen but a 6.4 one & 2 strikers fast & able to hold the ball up.

What are the thoughts on Haji Wright SP could make a player out of him!
Would be a great signing (American too which will please the board) if cov don’t go up (which I don’t think they will).

Salech at Cardiff.
6ft 5 and only 23 - we couldn't cope with him at all. 6 goals in 18 appearances. It's a decent shout I think
