Re: Pitch Invasion
Maybe the club are just using some pretty stark language to ward against having to pay for additional damage and an FA fine after the Millwall game.
In any event, they clearly aren’t going to issue bans to children and I’m struggling to muster much sympathy for grown adults who can’t follow well established instructions. Not sure passion is much of a defence. More likely coke and drink.

Love it , this year will mark my 60th year in august of watching the clarets, my Dad took me on to begin with to get vouchers or some thing to be able to watch and get tickets for the 66 world cup. But from then on ive been a Claret. and yes ive broken rules and laws but I admit I was /am an idiot for doing so and have accepted that as times change, things that were minor infringements are now more looked at in a different way

You’ll presumably feel the same about the thousands on the pitch at the Orient game and every promotion ever since.

Re: Pitch Invasion
The club are in an impossible position tho. As I said earlier in the week, how do you stop fans from invading the pitch?
When the FA hand out fines, I’m not sure what they expect the club in question to do next time they are in a position where a pitch invasion is a risk. All they can do is ask fans not to do it.
Well, that or pay for several hundred riot police.

Re: Pitch Invasion
The thing is, if you have a 16, 18 and 60 year old doing exactly the same pitch run, with no damage or verbal assault, who do you ban? If it is 3, it will have to be 500, if it is 1 or 2, there will be outrage and claims of selective discrimination.agreenwood wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 8:46 pmMaybe the club are just using some pretty stark language to ward against having to pay for additional damage and an FA fine after the Millwall game.

There is no way this course of action can work.
(I’m not referring to verbal assault, or damage)

you put
But those who simply joyfully ran on, to threaten to ban them now, using CCTV, that is hardly what a community club should do. Many were just kids.
In any normal persons view that is exactly what they should do for the protection of the club and its fans . You need to take a hard look at your self its illegal to go on!!!!
Are you the sort of person who would say yes its 30 mph limit on Todmorden road but if you go at 70mph its ok as you have had a good day
There was only one paragraph in the press release that was a problem, the guys who did 70mph (e.g. the one who abused Wilder) I am all for charging. The ones doing 31mph shouldn’t be prosecuted. Humans are sheep, they follow the herd. When we have hundreds running on, many will follow. We are being urged to watch documentaries like Wrexham where they have bigger pitch invasions than we had, that is glorified by TV and many naively follow it. Not my thing, but some do. They shouldn’t have their whole lives ruined for it.
But the 70mph speeders, fine.

The only people who should be on the pitch are the players, I know it's a tradition especially when you get promoted bit it's for the players to celebrate, plus should Pace and co been on the pitch...
Re: Pitch Invasion
"Monday's pitch invasion has resulted in costly damage to LED boards around the perimeter of the pitch. It is the club's intention to identify the fans who committed the damage and recover all costs incurred directly from them," Burnely said in a statement on Friday.

At that time it was a request not to go on since 1991 it's law and if you break a law there may be consequences. We all know that . It's just not acceptable to say that emotions were high . What about the others who have to wait longer for the team to come out having to alter plans to get home etc

At the Orient game, and at Scunthorpe, the gates were opened by those in charge thus inviting fans onto the pitch, with no requests made for fans not to enter the playing area, so you can remove those games, and probably others from your argument

Re: Pitch Invasion
I know, I don't really care who does and doesn't have the right, but English Law has a lot of time for precedent. And fans have been invading the pitch following promotions, last games of the season, and even for not getting relegated, for years. Not saying they're right, but I think it's OK as long as it stays non-confrontational.Juan Tanamera wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 6:33 pmI'll go out on a limb here and take a wild guess that the people you mention might just have had a teensy-weensy little bit of permission from club to do so.

No need to trash expensive LCD hoardings. The same goes for those scroats who got abusive right in the faces of SUFC players.
That'll be it from now on. No more on-pitch celebrating after the final whistle. Can't be forking out good money simply to repair expensive equipment. Also, can't trust fans not to goad and abuse opposition players when they are heading for the tunnel.

Why do some idiots and morons at Burnley think it’s the “done thing”?
FFS stay in your seats next Saturday. Don’t get the club into more trouble than it’s already in.

Re: Pitch Invasion
SO many Clarets fans are quick to slag off both Liverpool and Leeds fans for whatever, however, their fans have given the football authorities every reason to throw the book at clubs whose fans invade the pitch for whatever reason.
No fans went on the pitch of one club who had just become Champions of England and no fans went onto the pitch of the other promoted club in The Championship and who are more than likely going to be Champions.
Seventy three years I have been going on the Turf but have never been on the turf apart from when on a guided tour several years ago. There is no excuse for any fan to go onto the pitch on a match day, it is against the rules laid down by the FA.
