Freddie Potts would be an interesting signing. Youngster on loan from West ham at Pompey. He's looked a really good player this season.

It depends on who our manager is on the 1st June. Cooper is still available.

Think it’s just a topic of discussion and people making conversation/ giving their opinions .
Please remember though that you are only allowed an opinion as long as it’s the ‘right’ one! 😂

To ensure continuity that keeps winding a minority up I’ll post a few random players names from around Europe that might be worth a look at some point . :D

Richard Kone, worth a bid?

Which club tried to sign him in January?

We need a physical striker next season who guarantees you goals, Looking at out of contract players there is a few to choose from.

Set pieces are absolutely huge in the PL, I think the average is 25% of goals are scored from them but some teams are as high as having 40% of their goals coming from them. We are going to have to improve our physicality and height for sure. I couldn't name any players we could go for though

To ensure continuity that keeps winding a minority up I’ll post a few random players names from around Europe that might be worth a look at some point . :D

In relation to this - anyone with a fear of subjective posts and a little bit of fun , you might want to look away now. P.S. hope Long Time Lurker enjoys this and comes back to the board with their posts. Enjoy and/or hate this, either way it hurts nobody but might interest a few . UTC

Here is a list of interesting players(tried to keep it realistic) across Europe who may or may not be in range for us this summer, and may or may not well be of the required standard, after all I’m not the head of recruitment.

Left back -

Bradley Locko (22 years old): Stade Brest player who looks to have the athleticism for the premier league.

Ryan Sessegnon (24 years old) : Fulham player not exclusively a left full back, very attack minded and can play on either flank, had real injury problems in his career so far but definitely a player there.

Right back -

Guela Doue (22 years old): Strasbourg player and current Ivory Coast international at 6ft 1 would bring more physicality to the back line that may well be required this season.

Emil Krafth (30 years old) : Newcastle player with 80 premier league appearances, a steady head who could bring valuable experience to the group, however heard whispers of a new deal at Newcastle .

Holding/Defensive midfield -

Peer Koopmeiners (24 years old) : AZ Alkmaar player , 6ft 1 good passer of the ball and decent from set pieces, something we maybe expected from Shelvey this season.

Leon Avdullahu (21 years old) : Basel player, again 6ft 1, combative midfielder with plenty of potential and resale value.

Tyler Morton (22 years old) : Liverpool player, highly rated midfielder who needs to make the next step in his career, unfortunately played 40 games for our near neighbours but we’ve had success with that before (Keane, Harwood-Bellis)

Central midfielder -

Matthias Svanberg (26 years old): Wolfsburg player, Swedish international combative midfielder, maybe a bit out of our range but good calibre .

Marcelino Nunez (25 years old): Norwich player, last year of contract , the general consensus of Norwich fans seems to be that he could be decent for a lower end Premier league or top European league side . Problem he has is his injury record which could be an issue.

Depending how Sunderland get on in the playoffs - Dan Neil / Jobe Bellingham - both known to Championship , albeit Jobe may well have skyrocketed in value now but he’d be a very good singing for sure.

Number 10 -

Sem Steijn (23 years old) : FC Twente player, scored plenty of goals this season arriving into the box Brownhill like. Always wary of Eredvisie stats when they make the move over here , can be too much of a step up.

Wingers -

Keito Nakamura (24 years old) : Stade Reims player and Japan international , plays predominantly from the left and has good feet, could help with the “brand” overseas if that’s what the club are looking to do.

Sindre Walle Egeli (18 years old): Nordsjaelland winger looks to have real potential and already in the first team. One for the future, big potential.

Zuriko Damitashvilli (24 years old): Saint Etienne winger and Georgian international, versatile, hard working and a good dribbler of the ball.

Nathan Tella (25 years old) - no comments required .

Strikers -

Lucas Stassin (20 years old) : Saint Etienne forward recently joined from Belgian football, has started rather well with their supporters taking well to him.

Franjo Ivanovic (21 years old) : Union SG player with 2 apps for the Croatian National side. Union SG have a decent track record with finding good strikers , will someone take a punt on him now before his stock goes through the roof?

Willem Geubbels (23 years old) : St.Gallen striker who we were linked with in January loosely , looks to be finding his potential this season and has the size and pace for the premier league, may be worth a gamble if a decent price. Monaco paid decent money for him as a young lad .

Mihailo Ivanovic (20 years old): Millwall striker , has hit 11 goals for them in his debut season thus far with just us to play. 6ft2 and rated highly by the Millwall fans . Looks a real prospect.

Yousef Salech (23 years old) : Cardiff striker who caused us problems and scored against us in the away game , at 6ft5 we struggled with him , with their recent relegation he could be cheaper than normal.

Not sure but I'd argue none of our forwards are, I just know that the likes of Adebajo did well for Luton in the PL because they were hard to handle. Steve and CJ have been imperious this season but they couldn't deal with him at all in the air, we will likely be chasing games next season so he might be an option off the bench

I would be looking at a player who's not hitting a lot of starts like Taiwo Awoniyi from Forest. He only started 8 times for Forest this season surely he'll be wanting more game time next season.

Whilst it would be a good signing and would definitely increase our threat from set pieces (if we actually cross the ball), I can't see it happening if we still have Worrall here.

My thought process regarding strikers would be to look to buy 2 this summer who could take the burden off each other and compliment Flemming, not sure wether foster will be here or available either.

My original thoughts were Salech and Ivanovic at Millwall both big lads .

If we play a back 3 more often then I’d argue there’s definitely room for both.

I think finding that bit of PL experience / nous we arguably need (particularly at the back) is tricky. He’s 34 and played a fair bit this season so yeah, either he has one more season in him or he’s gone over that line.

A Ross Barkley type signing would be ideal, like it nearly was for Luton last season.

Steven Defour was our version and someone similar would be perfect.

Surely there are good quality PL players that are coming towards the end of their careers who perhaps are playing in Europe who would rather be back in the Prem.

If we try to get two strikers they would both expect to play virtually every game so I doubt we'd be able to persuade more than one to join us.

Leander Dendoncker (30) is in his final year at Villa, been on loan at Anderlecht this season, would likely be available for a fairly low price.

Wilfried Ndidi (28) has a £9m relegation release clause.

Both of those plus Dawson for a combined £12m-ish would be pretty good business and address a key area of the pitch.

If we try to get two strikers they would both expect to play virtually every game so I doubt we'd be able to persuade more than one to join us.
That’s why I’d target two younger strikers who may not expect game time immediately , giving us options

Given that for 2 seasons now the promoted sides have gone down, we will have our work cut out attracting players, the recruitment team are going to have to have a number of back up options to our preferred targets as Premier league physicality and nouse will be key for us especially in midfield.

I’d say the opposite in fact.

We’ve a good track record of developing young players, we’ve had numerous players play for England in recent times, and as long as our valuation is met, we don’t stand in anyone’s way should they want to leave or have outgrown us.

I’d say we’re a perfect club for a young player looking to develop, or a foreign player trying to get into English football.

I always liked Ndidi but after witnessing him strolling around in the Leicester midfield on Saturday as Wolves cut through them time and time again I think I would be tempted to give him a swerve. Not what we need!

Dendonker might be on but you’ve got to question why other PL teams saw him surplus to requirements.

As I’ve already mentioned on this board recently, I would be all over Ross Barkley.

Though we do need some experience, it's imperative that we don't sign a load of lower-echelon PL journeymen on big contracts (and I don't think that we will either)... That never ends well - especially for clubs of our size.

People can say whatever they like about the love in for former players, but as an experienced option at the back and providing he thought he still could do a job, I'd have Ben Mee back.

I’d take a punt on Dele Alli.

The Dewsbury-Hall link however speculative it may be, is one I’d really like. He’d be a brilliant albeit rather unrealistic signing for us .

How many experienced player moves have worked out in the last couple of years?

Not many I bet. Unlucky with injuries will probably be a theme?

Not sure football needs experienced players anymore as players are all coached to an inch of their lives.

He cost Chelsea £30m and he’s on £80k a week so I think we can definitely say that’s not happening. Good player though.

Dele Ali hasn't been able to get a tune out of himself. He is a massive risk, one that we can't afford to take. Likely to upset the dressing room as well.

We seem to have a good relationship with Chelsea, if they are willing to take a hit to move him on then maybe we could tempt them with a loan and obligation on survival.
