He’s just not the type we need . (Dele)

Would dewsbury-hall take a slight drop to play regularly? Loan with an option to buy and all that jazz.

People can say whatever they like about the love in for former players, but as an experienced option at the back and providing he thought he still could do a job, I'd have Ben Mee back.
Obviously would struggle with playing it out but I think he’d be better backup than Worrall.

Not sure how much of his £80k p/w wages Chelsea would cover in a loan deal?

Would we need that much covering?

How much will Brownhill be on if he signs a new deal? Won’t be far off!

All sorts of weird deals can be struck if a club really wants to get a player out, even to save a little bit of cash.

Didn’t we do something like that with Joe Hart?

Very much doubt the club will pay over £50k, and doubt we'll go to that in most cases, simply not sustainable at Burnley, unfortunately.

I've heard Brownhills said his goodbyes to the squad. I'm expecting a big wave to the fans Saturday.

Yes, I can’t see why he would have said his goodbyes before the season ends and we’re going for the title!?

Who knows. Just what I've heard and i have no idea on credibility of source either.
I don't expect Brownhill to be here next season but I'll happily be surprised if he is.

I can't argue why it would be today and not tomorrow. But if he's leaving I would think he would tell the squad prior to waving goodbye to the fans on Saturday.

If he is leaving, I’d expect the club to confirm ahead of Saturday so he can get a proper send off from the fans.

I’m pretty chilled about it to be honest. I think he’d be daft to go because I don’t really see him getting a lot of game time at an established premier league club and he’s at/entering his peak so he’d be better off playing than taking the money.

Suppose there’s a guaranteed income point which he might also be considering at his age, but equally that could be easily resolved with a relegation clause.

If he leaves though it might be a good time. As good as he is, and as much as I like him, we’ve been relegated twice with him in the midfield and we might be needing to think about upgrades in any event. He’s taken us up twice and with his contribution this season would leave us on a real high. At £8m he’s been a bargain so I’d wish him well and hope we see him back at the club at some point because he seems a great guy.

Wether it’s true or not that Brownhill goes , I’d be happy either way. The lad has given absolutely everything since he arrived and this season he’s enjoyed hitting the net more than ever in his career so fair play to him. We all know he’s not quite at premier league standard on the ball inparticular , but he would still be of big use to us next season if he stayed, yes we need to upgrade but he’s grown into a captain and what a servant to the club.

I would like to know how many points his goals have led to this season. I am certain we would not be looking at a potential 100 points on Saturday was he not a Burnley player (then there are his assists). I agree he may not be quite PL midfield quality , but we will be lacking in a similar way in a number of other positions, even going bold in transfers. Personally if he wants to stay (only the club and manager will know), I would push the boat out to secure him.

Parker has said in the last week that he is confident Brownhill and Egan-Riley will sign new deals, I'd say that's a more reliable source.

We need a few players who can cut it at Premier League level ( I'm not sure that's Vardy these days either ) but I dont want to see another summer with huge numbers of signings being made and potentially damaging the amazing team spirit this group has

Vardy & Sargent would be my realistic most effective picks up front.

Vardy will score goals from nothing which is what we need and can't be taught, similar to Ian Wright he just has the X factor.

Our defence is solid and will give teams someone to worry about up top, he's not as quick as he was but he can still score and his experience will be invaluable.

Still managed 7 goals and 3 assists, 10 goal contributions, in a very poor Leicester side from 32 games this season.

I’d rather not have Jamie Vardy and his wife’s circus around the club.

Thankfully it’s most likely nonsense. We’ll be after better than he can offer these days.

I'd have Isidor and Haji Wright above both I think from what I've seen.

Sargent is a good player but I have my doubts whether he's physical enough to lead the line and provide an out ball in a team likely to struggle at Premier League level. Vardy may still flicker but he's not going to be a regular starting option and he's on his way down.

Both Isidor and Wright are big, strong, powerful athletes. Wright is 27 and may well feel this is his time for the big league. Isidor may command a higher fee given his age.

We have to move away from the model of getting strikers from the EFL. The step up these days is too large.

I would look for well known rough diamonds who Parker's man management could polish up. That or an unknown Esteve type who due to being unknown I cannot suggest!

The rough diamonds all depend on their “story”, whether there are ones like Edwards who feel disenchanted and open to a move.

People like Toney or Mitrovic, for whom the appeal of Saudi dosh may have worn off.
People like Awoniyi at Forest who hasn’t had many minutes this season.
People like Abraham at Roma who is out of contract (linked with Leeds for months at £100k per week).

It feels like to have a genuine chance, we may need to pull a powerful, quick and tall rabbit out of the hat to play upfront and start every game. When we have sides even as low as 18th having a Delap, 17th having a Kudos, 16th having a Solanke - we may have no option but to financially gamble. Edwards shows these are not all impossible, things can happen if a club throws money at it.

Your last paragraph contradicts your first. Delap was plucked by Ipswich from the Championship and has stepped up just fine, as you point out.

Suspect the key is that it's someone with the physicality and athleticism to step up. There aren't many leagues in Europe that test those credentials more than the Championship does.

I’m all for adding some PL experience and I know he was a late bloomer, but Vardy will be 39 during the course of next season.

If experience is the order of the day, I hope there are options that aren’t so far removed from their peaks.

I think you're spot on there. If you're looking for a (non-established, more affordable) striker to step up and cope with the physicality of the Premier League, the Championship has an excellent track record for providing them.

Over the last decade, some of the most successful strikers at bottom half Premier League teams have stepped up from the Championship. Michail Antonio, Chris Wood, Liam Delap, Callum Wilson, Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins are all examples that have just sprung to mind.

Ipswich signed Delap from City but he had only been in the Championship on loan. Indeed he didn’t exactly set the world alight in those loan spells - very average at Stoke and PNE, decent at Hull, so sometimes you just have to take the punt.

Could Trafford be going?

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Burnley have initiated talks over signing Bayern Munich goalkeeper Daniel Peretz after making 'specific enquiries' through former boss Kompany regarding his availability.

According to TeamTalk, Burnley are eager to win the race to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this summer, who is free to leave Chelsea after just one season at the club.

I'd be all over Jack Rudoni if Cov don't make it up.

The lad up front for Millwall looks to have something about him. He might make the step up as he is hard to knock off the ball and seems to have some pace. He got in some good positions today and caused us problems.

Suggested Ivanovic earlier in the thread and he had a good game today against a fantastic centre back. Azeez was also useful.

I wanted him at Burnley when he was leaving Huddersfield. Wouldn't be a bad Brownhill replacement.
