Unfortunately sometimes rules have to be broken before they are accepted as rubbish.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 9:17 amThey aren't alienating anybody. There isn't a single fan out there who would decide to support a.n.other club because they aren't allowed to go on the pitch. It's just as easy to celebrate from your seat.
As Josh said this week, the players themselves want to come out and celebrate in front of the fans, and enjoy the lap of the pitch. They can't do that while some entitled pricks think rules only apply to others.
I get the excitement, I even get that some will be disappointed, but it really is as simple as, if you are told not to do it, you don't do it.
If you don't like the rule of law, you change it, you don't break it.
There will be thousands of Emily Davison's running into the field of play this afternoon.

It's only rubbish in your opinion though. Plenty of people think the rule is there for good reason. This is the issue here. People who think they only have to obey the rules they agree with. It's a slippery slope to anarchy. No matter how many times people break the rules of pitch invasion, they are never going to be changed, never. It will only lead to the club getting into bother with the FA or the Police. If you are a true fan, why would you wish that on the club.

Question
If your at the game, and don't want to break the law by going on the pitch, how does a few enthusiastic young fans, going on the pitch to celebrate affect your enjoyment. The pitch will clear after 15/20 minutes,Players back out in another 15 minutes lap of honour, everyone happy

Delays for travelling fans
Potential damage to property
Potential fines for the club
Possible points deduction
Our fans look like halfwits on national tv
Goads opposition fans leading to violence
Danger to players and staff
Lots of young fans facing banning orders
The club have asked fans not to go on the pitch
And - It’s against the law

And if the Club get fined 10 points at the start of next season, will running onto the field have been worthwhile?
If a player gets injured by someone running onto the field, will that still be ok?
The FA’s rules are clear.

Who said anything about disagreeing with a pitch invasion spoiling anyone’s enjoyment ? It’s a clear matter of ignoring the request from the club NOT to enter the pitch. The fact you can’t accept this really says it all .Les Lawrence wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 10:19 amQuestion

Anyone else think they killed the atmosphere off today with the overkill of stewards at the final whistle? Players looked to be a bit miffed as well as they seemed to be hemmed in.

Equally horrific scenes at Bradford after their 96th minute promotion winner. We really don’t want to see these sorts of emotions on display a football game. Re: Pitch Invasion
The atmosphere seemed to change after repeated warnings to stay off the pitch. It died after people just sat in the stand doing nothing (behaving).
At the final whistle Scott Parker was going mental that the fans weren't showing passion.
Can't have it both ways I'm afraid.

I suspect if we won’t the league the celebrations would have been better, but we already celebrated promotion last week. Was never going to be up to much today

Re: Pitch Invasion
Agree all a bit of an anti climax at the end with Leeds scoring and as above the celebrating was done two weeks ago. Obviously nowadays you have to also wait around for the choreographed celebrations.

Re: Pitch Invasion
Incredible how the pitch invasions today at Bristol City and Bradford don’t appear to have had any safety issues. The risk was all at Turf Moor apparently.
A big wet towel thrown over what should have been well deserved exuberance. We didn’t get too many own goals this season but we did get one today.

Just going off Peter Wild’s comments and the fact that he was apparently unhappy after the pitch invasion following the winning goal:
Fleetwood manager Pete Wild claimed he was confronted by home fans as were some of his players.
He said: “It was madness. I understand it, you are excited and you want to run on the pitch when you’ve scored but don’t get involved with the opposition players and the manager.
“Our players have been confronted, I’ve been confronted and it’s just disappointing because it didn’t need to happen.
Re: Pitch Invasion
Perhaps the pushing over of the Electronic advertising boards and damage might have been a dampener on the "well deserved exuberance"ChristheViking wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 8:31 pmIncredible how the pitch invasions today at Bristol City and Bradford don’t appear to have had any safety issues. Re: Pitch Invasion
At least the lack of pitch invasion meant there was no delay getting the players back on the pitch for a lap of honour.

Re: Pitch Invasion
A crazy day.
Started with a wake up then a 2 hour drive, got to the Turf by 12pm with no time for a beer (thanks Sky), Haffners booth had shut so no pie and peas, it was a mouth scorching steak pie in the JHU instead. Then we get a topsy turvy game of offside goals, nerves, glory then last minute snatch aways. Then we get the world’s biggest tug of war with the stewards and the much dreaded pitch invasion……..by the stewards in yellow hats
. Players were kettled away from us, they looked infuriated. Then they go off, start to set up the promotion stage as far away from the fans as possible, must have accidentally put a “champions” bit on it because a player ripped it off and threw it away. This after one of our squad is booed onto the pitch by idiots. They then lift the trophy…..with their backs to the fans. A trophy that Josh walked over with it in his hands rather than getting it given to him. At least it wasn’t inflatable. Then Natasha Bedingfield came on, unannounced until the moment, to a dead atmosphere. She did OK to be fair. Then to top it off, we headed home and after some crazy bikers roared past us on Snake Pass we got held up cos one then came off after hitting a car.
A mad 15 hour day. Did it have to be this crazy? But seriously BFC, if I want clowns (in the form of stewards), I’ll go to the circus. Crackers. But well done Scott and the team.
p.s. the extended story is to show sometimes we just need the basics, not craziness and overzealousness.

Don’t know if anyone has seen the footage of the Bradford pitch invasion, but you can see Fleetwood players being pushed around by fans and goaded as clear as day.
After Billy Sharp was head-butted by a Forest fan a few years ago, it’s not hard to understand why clubs don’t want pitch invasions.

There was a "Stand invasion" by a member of our coaching staff in the JHU at gate 3 onto the seats...
