Announcer on repeat
Why did the clown have to keep repeating pitch encroaching notice did he not notice the boos when he did it?

Re: Announcer on repeat
I think the club gets a lot more stick than they deserve on this - I don't think they're completely against a pitch invasion etc but the announcements and the stuff online just allows them to turn around and say "we did everything we could to stop them" when the charges come

The announcer is annoying as hell anyway. Loves the sound of his own voice I really wish we would get rid.

Re: Announcer on repeat
Basically because the Club risked a severe fine had the scenes after the Sheffield Utd game been repeated, and they had to be seen to be doing everything they could to prevent it. Like a huge number of stewards, police, a rope, a safe area for players etc.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 3:26 amWhy did the clown have to keep repeating pitch encroaching notice did he not notice the boos when he did it?
I don’t know what is difficult to understand about it. The people booing where probably the ones goading the Sheffield Utd players, which was the cause of the announcements in the first place.

Re: Announcer on repeat
Booes in all upper tiers too. Don’t think they were the fans goading the Sheff United players do you? Suspect they were booing because it was over the top and killing the atmosphere. Proof in the pudding with how empty the stands were at the end.Claretincraven wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 9:04 amBasically because the Club risked a severe fine had the scenes after the Sheffield Utd game been repeated, and they had to be seen to be doing everything they could to prevent it. Re: Announcer on repeat
I’m not sure how you’ve come to this conclusion. I think the measures taken yesterday prove that the club are completely against a pitch invasion, that couldn’t be more clear.Bangers&Mash wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 6:00 am…I don't think they're completely against a pitch invasion etc…

Comments about the announcer being a “clown” are harsh. He was clearly just doing his job.

But if we did that he'd have more time to spend on here; 'annoying as hell' and 'Loves the sound of his own voice', he's got to be a member of UTC.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 7:27 amThe announcer is annoying as hell anyway. Re: Announcer on repeat
The announcer was a bit annoying yesterday. Didn’t overshadow what a great day it was though.
Re: Announcer on repeat
He was stood in between the two dugouts whilst he was making the announcements and by the amount of laughing between him and his colleague after the boos, he was clearly enjoying himself.
Re: Announcer on repeat
Bit annoying when we were in the throws of trying to win a title. Also the "No injury time" board was a bit of a strange decision. Not sure if that is allowed by the powers that be?
Pitch invasions are usually organic more than anything, and I didn't really get the vibes that the fans were going to invade the pitch yesterday anyway.
What was really strange was Bristol City's mass pitch invasion yesterday when they have still got one of their most important games to play left on that pitch in the play-offs.

He really is awful. I can only buy into the “he’s just doing his job” narrative to a certain extent. Yes he’s doing his job but his delivery is awful. Very surprised if the ownership aren’t looking to improve in this area.

Re: Announcer on repeat
The main problem with him is that he announces the same thing over and over. We don’t even need telling once that Burnley are the premier league’s newest team but to keep shouting is beyond tinpot. Likewise we don’t need telling to make some noise more than once but he’s come from rugby where the fans need telling when and how to celebrate and the Americans aren’t too different.

Re: Announcer on repeat
Not for me. The 'great day' was the victory over Sheff Utd. that clinched promotion. I felt yesterday was as well as we have played at home all season but that late news from Plymouth hurt and sucked the life out of spectators and fans alike. We haven't been used to walking away from Turf Moor disappointed, certainly since the turn of the year, but I was just 'a bit flat' which is ridiculous seeing as we've been promoted with all the records along with it.

Well ,you're being picky then. Nothing is ever perfect but from the time Edwards was introduced into the team excitement and anticipation began to grow. But never mind you have it your way.

His looks remind me of the bloke who did the Go Compare TV advert, without is moustache and just as annoying.

Re: Announcer on repeat
What he needs telling is that the first rule of public speaking is not to tell into a microphone. The skill is to convey energy and passion without shouting because the PA system amplifies it enough anyway.
Certainly on Saturday the repeating lecturing of the announcer was so off putting it almost made me leave at the end, that coupled with the OTT stewarding staring right at you all game in the lower rows of the JHL, it definitely took away the enjoyment.

Re: Announcer on repeat
Had fans done what they were politely asked to do on Easter Monday, and not invade the pitch, there would not have been the stewarding as you describe, or the numerous announcements.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 11:20 amWhat he needs telling is that the first rule of public speaking is not to tell into a microphone. Many showed that they were unable/unwilling to abide by the rules, so as per normal the majority suffer because of the actions of the mindless minority

Earlier this season, on our game for Remembrance Sunday, there were a number of veterans on the touchline in front of the Bob Lord. As they made their way off, the crowd were rightly applauding them when the idiot suddenly bellowed: "WE ARE MOMENTS AWAY FROM KICK OFF".

Re: Announcer on repeat
Do think all the PA stuff for the celebrations was pretty weak. No reference to all the records broken etc. The introducing the players to the pitch etc. Just felt like no prep had gone into it.
Anyway…. I wasn’t too bothered about the stay off the pitch stuff. That’s obviously been instructed and ticking boxes really.

Absolutely. Does the moron think we don’t know how near kick off is? Most of us wear a watch, and can tell the time. We don’t need to be informed. Next thing he’ll be bellowing that 43 minutes have gone, so it’s “ ONLY 2 MINUTES TILL HALF TIME “!!!!!!!!!
