Ivanovic looks a player. Only 20 year old, would be a bit of a gamble. Good box movement for his goal, totally fooled Egan-Riley. Be funny taking Flemming’s replacement from them too… :D

I'd be all over Jack Rudoni if Cov don't make it up.

Yes, like the look of him. Bit of a risk but looks a prospect.

Ivanović also on my list . Young enough not to command playing every week, but enough potential to be a good player for us.

Jack Rudoni, Alfie Doughty at Luton too both look a class above the average and again iifJosh Brownhill walks Harrison Reed at Fulham.

First thing before thinking about new signings is don’t repeat last years debacle and secure contracts and start the season with as many of this years team as we can for continuity and team spirit
Also clear out players if you know you’re not going to use them
Kompany in the Prem not giving Zaroury & Benson a chance but then keeping them around was nonsense on both counts

I think I would prefer to give that Salech a go.

Looked a handful every time I saw him play

Do everything possible to keep the spine and heart of this team (unlike the VK season in the PL), ie Trafford, Esteve, CJER, Brownhill. In itself this will save money , as how much would it cost to buy players of this calibre, then buy four or five very good players only to compliment what we have. We also have Amdouini coming back and the message to him has to be "look mate unless someone wants to buy you at the correct price, you are staying, after all you are in the best league in the world, so get on with it". No more silly loans for Amdouini as per Weghorst. Then have a clearance sale for Churlinov, Delcroix, Obefemi, Santos (if he is still around), and a few more out on loan at present

My shortlist for what it's worth (not much)

Tella
Salech
Rudoni
Philip Billing
Tanganga
Doughty
...Right back

Perhaps a bit optimistic, but that's a good mix of experience and youth, with scope to sell on.

I'm sure that the recruitment team will have their eyes looking overseas for better value, which we absolutely should, but for me, we should predominantly recruit from English football.

So many of the top performers in the PL were once Championship stars.

Tbh it’s hard to disagree with that list,

I would potentially through a couple of flair players in. It actually I’m not sure we necessarily need them. This season physicality and speed will be the reason we stay up.

Need a proper defensive midfielder / shielder imo, which none of them midfielders are. Billing and Rudoni both play as 10s, the question is do we really need another 10? Depends on Amdouni, Ramsey finding full fitness (£25m-30m worth of players there) and then we’ve got Hannibal and Edwards. I’m looking at players more in the mould of Ismael Kone (ex Watford struggling for game time at Marseille), Imran Louza (Watford POTY) and Dendoncker. Seen Doughty mentioned, but not sure he’s better than Pires to be honest? Struggled defensively in the PL. I’m quite content with giving Humphreys and Pires a good shot at it.

I got the impression from their body language/gestures as players were being substituted yesterday (watching on TV) that Brownhill and Barnes won't be here next season, but Hannibal definitely will.

From my long exhausted list of players somewhere in this thread I like the look of the midfield lad at Basel, Leon Avdullahu.

We absolutely do need another DM, I just don't know any that are feasible/at the level that we require, and I'm not sold on Dendoncker after the past few seasons + will command a big fee.

I think Billing and Rudoni can play box to box (and I'm not saying sign both, it's a shortlist off the top of my head). Ramsey can play anywhere in the midfield/wings, I believe, and for me, he played his best game in CM with Cullen in the cup at Spurs.

Doughty is just added depth at left back/wing back (if we play 3 atb), who has attacking output (2 goals, 8 assists last PL campaign), who should be relatively cheap - but we may choose to sign better... Full back is a real hard one to get right, not particularly impressed with many in the Champ this year bar the lad for Boro, Dijksteel - just not sure if he had a one off game against us.

Forgot about the Watford lads, yeah, you're right, there are a cuple there that could be shrewd signings.

Would this be the Vardy who plays for Leicester who have scored a grand total of 3 goals in the past 12 games?
Brownhill aside, do we have anyone in our squad who managed a better strike rate? We've got much better at creating chances as this season's progressed, but as we saw once again on Saturday, we're still ****-poor at finishing them... And we've been were playing in the Championship. I agree salary might be a stumbling block, though Jamie Vardy is surely bright enough to realise that nobody in British football is going to pay him even close to what he was earning on his Leicester contract and signing for Burnley would give him the opportunity to show he's good for one more year in the Premiership.

Both play their best stuff further forward. Dendoncker is in the last year of his Villa contract. They need to raise some funds. Can’t see it being more than 3-4m to be honest. Offers experience and can play cb. Yeah Djiksteel is a Champ player I think, out of contract and linked with QPR. One option is Axel Tuanzebe on a free from Ipswich, mainly played right back for them. I liked Assignon last time, felt he added a lot, but he did sign a new deal at Rennes last time. We might even see CJ tried there, I’m not convinced he’s a PL cb (in a back 4).

Apologies, with regards to Dendoncker, I meant, would command big wages, not a 'big fee', but he certainly does have PL pedigree, which we need.

Tuanzebe is an interesting shout, he's a very good player but has a torrid injury history and only played in 19 league games this year. I presume he's missed half the season due to injury?

We need to avoid any sicknotes.
Unfortunately we will have to pay some who won't get many minutes, but have to be here in case of injuries. Having said that, if just 1 comes through unexpectedly, it will have been a good investment.
News on CJ and Brownhill ASAP please. Trafford and Esteve can hopefully have a good holiday and hopefully tweet their intentions by the time the fixtures come out. Then let's crack on and back Scott Parker in the transfer window, getting as many as possible in, as soon as possible. A good pre season and lets go all out for survival, and as supporters, lets enjoy every point we can earn, in the fights and struggles ahead.

Haven’t seen enough of Ivanovic but he disappeared after 20 minutes.
The best 3 in the Championship are Sargent, Hadji Wright and Bundu, at Plymouth. Not sure any of them are PL level.
We are desperate for a natural goal scorer. I’d even take Vardy for a season. Hopefully the scouts have found the man.

Gotcha, yeah possibly - that’s where it’s a tricky one for us, any ‘established’ PL player will come with higher wages & reluctance to take a 50% cut if relegated, but at the same time there’s a balance to be had..

Yeah, Ipswich fans seem to rate him but do add he’s a bit injury prone. I think some of those missed games this season were after he nearly managed to chop his thumb off, bizarrely!

I’ll stick my neck out here, but there’s not a cat in hell’s chance that Nathan Tella returns to Burnley in the foreseeable future. Those who think he will come here this summer should explain why he would give up Champions League football for a potential relegation battle in England.

We have needed a centre forward ever since Chris Wood was stolen by relegation rivals Newcastle.
I doubt we can afford an established top tier CF, but Ivanovic from Millwall looks a reasonable shout (not necessarily to replace Flemming, but to replace Foster). He’s the only person I’ve seen this season to cause big problems for Steve and CJ.

With regard to CM, having Aaron Ramsey back is already like one new signing, should we lose Brownhill. Then there’s the height and experienced head of Laurent.

Much of any business done outside a striker will depend on who we manage to keep hold of:
J Anthony
M Edwards
J Trafford
CJ Egan-Riley
Steve
J Brownhill
Z Flemming

Keeping them all could be crucial to survival next season.

Aren't we bound to keep Anthony / Edwards / Flemming as they're all obligations to buy?

I think CJ will sign on.

I’d love Esteve and Trafford to stay next season but not sure that’s plausible , perhaps one of them ?

I think Brownhill may go.

The four loans are now permanent for BFC.

Sarmiento will go back I’d imagine .

Esteve and Trafford are both under contract, so they can only go,

1) If they want to

2) We agree a transfer fee with any interested parties.

Without knowing the players, I wouldn't want to guess those outcomes, but I hope that each of them stay. I also hope that they sign improved, extended contracts, which is pretty much a given if they choose to stay.

Hoping that we can raise some substantial transfer fees from those outside our current match day squad. I know!

I read something earlier saying if Newcastle still wanted Trafford it would now cost them £40m. Doesn't matter how rich they are they can only spend so much and they seem to have a list of players they want. Can only hope that is the price we are now asking. Pickford was £25m rising to £30m in 2018 so why do teams think they can get Trafford on the cheap when prices have since gone through the roof for players.

Foster in his season in the Premier League with us had a similar points per game for probably 4x lower salary than Vardy:

Vardy - 8 in 33 = 0.24 PPG
Foster - 5 in 24 = 0.20 PPG

For me it’s the number 24 in that quote that is the worry for me with Foster.

Whilst I am ambivalent about Vardy coming to us at this stage in his career, one of his greatest assets is getting in the heads of defenders which creates space elsewhere for others.

Played 14 minutes yesterday. Earlier in the season that was quite typical, although has had far more minutes of late. As discussed in the Kompany champions thread though, the standard outside the top teams isn’t very high so I think the Premier League would be a much bigger attraction to him.

Leverkusen are second and will have Champions League next year so that’s a big pull. So agree with you that it’s unlikely but not impossible, especially if he’s missing home.

Tella plays regularly at Leverkusen. Just can’t see it happening.
Me neither but would be a great signing I'd happily forget the Edwards deal if we had a chance of Tella instead

Tella is a pipedream dithering two years ago on his signing lost him for good.Foster need moving on as does Redmond , Benny , Tressor, Costelloe and Sarmiento
Ash needs a player coach contract an area he has expressed desire to follow.
No sale to Newcastle after the Wood/ Pope debacle unless its North of £40m although lesser amount of £30m with Pope and Matty Longstaff coming the other way may appeal to us

I’d have Sean Longstaff, Mattys career hasn’t quite gone the same way to date.

Tella is an interesting one.

He’s only played 1249 minutes for Leverkusen this season across 25 appearances. For someone that is about to reach there pinnacle of there career 26-29, I suspect he will want to be starting every single game.

I still think there’s a good chance we could sign him but it would probably take circa 20-25m

I genuinely think retaining Trafford, Egan-Riley & Esteve will go along way to determining how we fare next season. As strong as Beyer, Ekdal and Worral may be, our current two centre backs defend well at pace and I think that could be the key to reducing the number of goals conceded next season.

Everyone seems to have a go at speculating on these threads. Mine is I would be happy if we pulled a rabbit out of the hat and signed one of the many good midfield/ attacking Japanese players other clubs seem to find

It’d be good to have two threads this summer.

One to discuss rumours/stories and one for those who like to suggest targets. I’ve got no interest in the latter, so would prefer not to wade through those kinds of posts.

For me it’s the number 24 in that quote that is the worry for me with Foster.

Whilst I am ambivalent about Vardy coming to us at this stage in his career, one of his greatest assets is getting in the heads of defenders which creates space elsewhere for others.
How many games did they go without anyone scoring this season? Didn't they set a new all-time record for Leicester on not scoring?

He is only getting older too. I don't want him anywhere near our squad. I am also not Fosters greatest fan, we are going to need much better, not a tiny bit better.

Sounds like a volunteer to start a new thread. Happen to agree though.

It’s a fair challenge, but no matter what the intention, most transfer threads tend to become a ******* contest about who knows the most about players in obscure leagues.

I’ll continue wading.

I'm resigned to losing Trafford and Brownhill. I think Esteve and CJ will stay.

Id be forcing Newcastle's hand for a good deal for Traff though. Longstaff, Pope and 25-30m would be my asking price.

Tell us probably pie in the sky unless we use our entire budget. He's going to be £30m+ unless he wants to force a move out.

I don't see Browny staying either, on a free so you would imagine someone (likely WHU) will offer him 80k+ per week on a 3 year deal and there is no way we can compete with that.
