Oliver Somme very luck man
That flare that hits Oliver Sonne has got to be one of the most stupid things done by a Burnley fan, and the father said it was his son who through it, hes got to be an even bigger dick than his son. Yes it was not intended to hurt, but it could have caused a real problem given the way flames flare off a scarf or possible alcohol
These flares etc are not allowed to be set off in public and to be thrown around is even worse.
I bet the coward who through it wont come forward to the Police to say it was them

Re: Oliver Somme very luck man
Weren’t the players asking for the flares to be thrown to them? Seen a clip where Fleming catches one and read that Esteve tried to catch it but burnt his hand?
Re: Oliver Somme very luck man
Yes they were asking for fans to throw them up and had them all the way from the town hall to the Turf but obviously someone has to have a pop at the fans to blame themSteve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 6:53 pmWeren’t the players asking for the flares to be thrown to them? Agree, but had to read a few times before I realised you meant threw rather than through.pureclaret wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 6:50 pmThat flare that hits Oliver Sonne has got to be one of the most stupid things done by a Burnley fan, and the father said it was his son who through it, hes got to be an even bigger dick than his son. Yep all the players were asking fans to throw them up, it's an accident that's all. Dont let that stand in the way of a moan tho

I've not seen this, was it a flare or a smoke bomb/stick?pureclaret wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 6:50 pmThat flare that hits Oliver Sonne has got to be one of the most stupid things done by a Burnley fan, and the father said it was his son who through it, hes got to be an even bigger dick than his son. All accidents can be avoided but they still happen.pureclaret wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 7:33 pmIts a stupid accident that could have been avoided
And saying the players were asking them kind of makes it worse
Great evening, players interacting with all the fans joining in the celebrations it was great to see.

Re: Oliver Somme very luck man
Yeah they were smoke sticks rather than flares, unlikely to have much damage. All is well. Fun had by all. Nothing to see

Re: Oliver Somme very luck man
I thought all the fans on here who slagged the pitch invaders off would be a bit quiet for a while, after realising the players have been acting bigger dicks than the fans.
Or they could call for all them players to get a 3yr banning order from the Turf?

Yes. The players are absolute idiots for holding flares. They’re against the law. I hope they all get permanent bans from football and the club cancel their contracts and start with a new squad next season - one that won’t spoil celebrations for fans wanting to watch a smoke free parade.

Re: Oliver Somme very luck man
One very good reason why I stayed at home. These smoke sticks cause me breathing issues.

The last away match was Blackburn in the cup a few years ago. I way hit in the back of the head with a flare thrown from the back of the stand by a Burnley fan, it hurt like hell.pureclaret wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 6:50 pmThat flare that hits Oliver Sonne has got to be one of the most stupid things done by a Burnley fan, and the father said it was his son who through it, hes got to be an even bigger dick than his son. It nearly knocked me out, then I thought I was suffocating for 3 mins due to all the smoke it produced. It's the reason I no longer go on away matches. My daughter was terrified. They should not be allowed in public.

Re: Oliver Somme very luck man
They were asking for them. They were practically begging for them. Did you attend the parade because if you did you couldn’t have missed it?pureclaret wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 7:33 pmIts a stupid accident that could have been avoided

Afterwards our club captain put a post out saying whoever threw the flare at Sonne… the team owe him a beer! Clearly the players a) wanted the flares throwing to them, b) enjoyed the whole thing, c) didn’t care a jot about the incident because they were making jokes about it after.
If the players wanted them, had a good time and didn’t care about the incident, I don’t think it’s too much to worry about.

The club would require a fire safety certificate before they could bring them on the bus.
