What about a punt on Adebayo. With Luton relegated might pick him up for cheap.

We have enough young players who aren't that experienced (or have any experience of the Premier League). We need a few 28 year olds who have played a few seasons at least in the PL and can help the team on and off the pitch.

Brighton's success with young talent has been slowly adding them to the team and not sticking them in from day one.

Aside from a striker we need 2, perhaps 3 midfielders. Ideally a defensive mid (cover or rotation option for Cullen) and two who can play near to him. I would expect that Parker is looking for squad midfielders which a PL side want to get off their wage bill.

I'm resigned to losing Trafford and Brownhill. I think Esteve and CJ will stay.

Id be forcing Newcastle's hand for a good deal for Traff though. Longstaff, Pope and 25-30m would be my asking price.
Add to that list Targett, Krafth and Miley
Plus a case of Newcastle Brown to cover my agent's fees

Very good suggestion-suspect Brighton will not be impressed with the game time WHU have given him. I think we could be the club to give him his chance on a season long loan (doubt we could afford him). A good strong young player who playing to form will challenge a number of PL defenders

Potter hardly gave him any minutes at WHU despite knowing him from Brighton days

There must have been reasons why

If I’m honest I think he’s exactly the type of striker Parker likes,

Someone that is big but mobile. He’s got a lot of potential so could be a decent lad to sign

Brighton fan at my work says he’s anything but mobile after his injury. Proper beefed up and is a yard slower, hence he’s gone backwards in his development - Hammers fans aren’t impressed either. Still, the potential is/was there.

Talk of Fabio Silva who scored 10 goals and 3 assist in 24 games with Las Palmas in La Liga on
Loan from Wolves who paid £35m but want 21m. At 22 could be good value. We’re said to be 1 of 6 clubs interested.

Bump.

Last plea to the hard of thinking to stop polluting the links thread with all that rambling cack and put it on here.

Is it simply too hard to understand that some prefer to just have a brief glance at possible news and not spend all day filtering out the 99 posts of nothing to find the one that may be of interest?

Depends who they are though.

If we had McNeil, Wood, Tarkowski and Pope playing for us next season we'd have a far better chance of surviving than with the current squad and whoever we are likely to sign in addition.

The point is that some would never want to sign ex-players, even if they became available and improved the squad.

Yep. It's not about signing ex players for the sake of it. It just so turns out some of our successful ex players are available on a free and might be able to offer something.
I'm convinced Ings could in the number 10 role if he could stay fit. A contract heavily incentived on appearances would be a smart move if we could get him to agree. Quite low risk.

The three relegated teams spent £350,000,000 between them over the two transfer windows.
I bet you can't make a first XI out of those three first team squads combined that is better than West Ham.

I wouldn't be totally against the signing of Dolan from up the road who is also out of contract. He's a real talent and will eventually start translating that into numbers. If we sell Amdouni he'd be a good budget option to fill the squad.

Of the set for release lists, Cresswell and Cairney would be good experience/rotation players. Wilson would be a great signing, he’s up there with Nugent who just seems to score every time he plays us

Absolute gem of a player, a Rolls Royce, but if I’m honest I think we need someone quicker to the ball and stronger in the tackle in centre midfield than Berge. Someone more combative and physically imposing.

Don’t have a single name in mind though.

I agrre I think the sander berge "model" is what we require, strong physical players with a turn of speed, an upgraded Laurent would be great.
My number 1 priority would be a threat from corners. This season, our corners have been appalling. If Steve and CJ go, Keane is not a bad option.
IMHO benson, edwards and cullen are too lightweight for the PL and need replacing.
My concern is this https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/burnl ... eh/#thread
we don't need players that may develop, we need a proven goalscorer.

If Newcastle really want Trafford, then £30m plus Targett or Longstaff would do. Probably helps them with FFP or PSR or whatever it’s called.

A proven goalscorer? How much do you think one of those would cost? Call me negative but I don’t think that’s a very realistic shout.

I don’t agree with your lightweight comments either. Cullen is more than capable with the right players around him and you’ve written Edwards off before he’s even kicked a ball at that level.

Re creating chances and scoring goals from corners and set plays; I agree we could be more aggressive attacking the deliveries….but in my opinion it’s more to do with the delivery. We haven’t had anybody who can deliver a decent set piece since McNeil and JBG left us. It’s crucial to have someone in your team who is capable from set plays.

Edwards is a class act and would easily get into a top 10 PL side.

He can't run so I doubt he'd get in a tip 10 side. Ability wise yes.
