Only people scoring high scores? Or everybody leaving a score? Cos there does seem to be a bit of a pattern.

Thanks for your opinion can you give a score pleaseGoliath wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 3:11 pmMind numbingly dull until Pires came in at left back with the freedom to get high up the pitch and offer width, Anthony moved to the left and was allowed to stay higher and get more central and Edwards came in on the right offering width and threat on that side
Parker was correct to keep it solid whilst he built his side and got us through the gruelling winter months, much to my own and many others frustrations.
Re: Football ratings this season
I was entertained for 76.0869565% of the season, giving me an entertainment factor integer score of 8/10.
7.5 if the rules allow for decimals.
I calculated this by going through each match and awarding it a green smiley face or a red angry face, dependant on how I remembered feeling at the time.

I think the OP might have said if we'd won every game 4-0, that it was boring and predictable in the way that Man City were criticised over the previous 4 seasons.

Those boring nil nils were the difference between us finishing second and not third.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 4:35 pmTo be fair to KRBFC, I saw it the same way. When we finally took the breaks off we looked so much better. We failed to keep the extra clean sheet we needed to break the record, but ultimately won the all games apart from the Derby game.
No one is arguing about where we finished, but some of those 0-0 draws at home, early in the season were the most boring games of football I've seen in 60 years of following the Clarets. It was almost like they'd just removed the training bibs and were having a kick about in the middle of the pitch. The Preston game I can't forget, even though there was nothing in it worth remembering, it was truly painful.
It was a pathway to greater things, I get that, but it doesn't alter the experience of the game.

Nobody said they weren’t, doesn’t mean they weren’t boring though and this topic was a question about entertainment not overall points total or achievements.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 4:52 pmThose boring nil nils were the difference between us finishing second and not third.

But in reality when you look at the club situation Parker has performed a bit of a miracle after the shambles of last summer, getting the job done is a 10/10 and this in the grand scheme of the club finances is the most important thing
Pre January I was very underwhelmed by us but things got way better so it's been a really good season. You can't get 100 points and only lose a couple and it not be seen as highly successful

An absolute masterclass in player management.
We built to a crescendo whilst laying down the work early on. Looked to go from strength to strength and looked fit all year - that's what happens when you control the tempo of games like we did and played every single game (bar perhaps Leeds away, but we won there anyway) how we wanted to play it.

It's all about pov, and perspective, and the post wasn't about where we finished, it was about the entertainment value of the team, and as KRBFC said, the football, early doors, was awful. You can make an argument it was painful for a reason if you wish, but nobody can argue it wasn't painful to watch.

In terms of entertainment. 10/10. It went down to the last game of the season. It can't get any more entertaining than that in my book.

It's pretty obvious really, isn't it?
He wants the average scores to be low for entertainment value, so he can justify to himself that he was right to stay away for a large part of the season.
Clutching at straws springs to mind.

For heaven’s sake people, the OP just wants you to give a number. That’s all, it’s a pretty simple request. Just a number, unless of course he doesn’t agree with it, so try to make sure that number is one he agrees with, despite him not watching us for half of the season.

What an interesting way of getting across your view that you were not entertained this season.
I say “interesting” but I really mean sh-ite.
‘I just need a score from everyone”
“Ok mines 10”
“No….not that score….we were dull as dishwater….give me a lower score…..”

If the team is 1/10 for six months
And 10/10 for six months that doesn't equal 10/10 more like 5/10
What's your score Bobbykins, let me guess, 10?

Sorry I’ve just realised that I didn’t give my score earlier.
I’d give 10/10 for entertainment over the full season and I submit it with a polite demand that my score IS to be included in the OP’s final analysis.

About a 7 for the overall season.
If you'd asked me at Christmas, I'd have said a 5. But after that for the most part I thought we played some really good stuff and were good to watch

Re: Football ratings this season
I may be in the minority here but as I played as a defender for the 20 or so years I've quite enjoyed watching this Burnley team and how it was initially set up , then watching those solid foundations put in place initially continually and incrementally grow and flourish, on the way breaking multiple record's and watching many of those players involved progress
Perhaps I'm old Skool and have the patience to watch a team and a manager build something
9/10 for me

9 for me. Going into the last game with still a chance of being champions was great.
Many away days with friends and family, good days out at the turf.
It'd have been a solid 10 if we would have finished top, but nevermind.
Great overall

So ive discounted all the 10/10's as it blatantly wasn't a 10/10 season entertainment wise the current score is
6.2 for entertainment
Are there anymore more nuanced posts to add to the score list? from the more regular posters?
Its a good recovery as it was looking like a 4 when i stopped watching in Feb so the team must have recovered in the intervening months.

I just want honest scores not done well in circumstances etc
If so, I will score the season a 9.49 for entertainment - thanks.

I think also I've been very generous with that rating, if i took one of those ratings away that i feel is high the entertainment value would have been down to
5.6
So not a bad score all things considered.
Obviously the happy clapper rating would be 10/10 across the board for everything. I'm wanting to dig into the real views of fans that actually watched on with some form of analytical mind.

Dunno..... looks a bit high to me, probably best round it down to a 5, and then take off the VAT rate, so you were probably right with your assessment of it being a 4 out of 4 season all in all.,Superjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Wed May 14, 2025 1:56 pmI think also I've been very generous with that rating, if i took one of those ratings away that i feel is high the entertainment value would have been down to

The season was far more entertaining than anything superjohnnyfrancis has ever posted.
I take it those who claim football being merely an entertainment industry will be fine if we lost 6-5 every week say like that wonderfully entertaining night at Grimsby, 11 goals a game who wouldn't be entertained.

Right that’s the player ratings done
Thanks for your analytical insight SJF - it’s truly a privilege to have you share your knowledge with the rest of us.
Right new ratings
SJF
Please rate him on the football wisdom scale
Please use zero to ten - zero being no football wisdom whatsoever and ten being up there with John Motson and Statto from the old Skinner and Baddiel footy show
To be honest I don’t want to be too prescriptive with the numbers and rules and if you want to throw in minus numbers I have built my spreadsheet to cater for all circumstances,
Only one rule though - you cannot score him more than 2.5 out of 10…..as I am looking for a pre determined outcome to my analysis

Re: Football ratings this season
It’s a 9 from me. I found it more exciting than the Kompany season with the three teams neck and neck up until the last couple of games. We always went into games needing some sort of result and that’s what gets me excited. With Kompany it was clear from not long after half way through the season and most games were over in the first half. It’s the jeopardy I find exciting.

SJF satisfying his UTC needs.
The big question for me, not interested in his ratings antics, why did he not post from mid Feb until mid May?
