Re: Full disclosure
I’m incredibly fond of most of our previous managers, we’ve done a very good job with most appointments.
I didn’t want Scott Parker to get the job, I even said he wouldn’t have been in my top 100 shortlist. I didn’t like him because of the media portrayal of him being a bit of cockney wide boy. I was very wrong. He’s a very likeable person and a terrific football manager.
I really, really hope he gets all the support he’s going to need next season.

Same here. I also loved Dyche for what he achieved here, but I knew it was time for him to go. Those final season press conferences, where he came across, to put it kindly, like a man who needed another challenge. That said, both him and Stan are my favourite Burnley managers.Exeterclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 6:52 pmI like both Kompany and Parker. Ticket office - used to have a personal touch, now a lack of empathy
Catering - rubbish and hasn't changed over the years, slow service and iffy staff, only upside is fair priced benny and hot
Managers - loved Dyche, liked Cotterill and Ternant, didn't like Howe much, Kompany no, Parker yes
Players - steve is key to us staying up if we keep him, Hanibal will be a cult hero
Alan - I like him and the board in general
Our fans - crap at times, but only when they've collectively 'turned' when they're 'at it' they're the best, we don't need drums or flags

At a time when we didn’t have a pot to wee in, I thought (and still think) that Steve Cotterill was an outstanding manager for Burnley. If he didn’t have to sell Chappy, Blake, Gray, Ade on the eve of different transfer windows closing, he might’ve pulled off the impossible in one of those seasons.
Brian Easton is one of the most dreadful players to pull on a Burnley shirt.

I've pointed out that everything that has happened is at odds with what you said, so your either wrong and willing to admit it, or you're wrong and unwilling (which is clearly the case). That's not an opinion it's just a fact.
Pretending you don't have an anti Parker agenda and that he just didn't do enough over the season isn't going to fool anyone.

Re: Full disclosure
Full disclosure.
Teasdale didn't do as bad a job as people think given his resources.
Barry Kilby is the catalyst that took us to levels we never thought we'd see again. The man is a legend, if anyone deserves a statue!
Despite all the good work by previous managers to consistently improve us, Coyle got us over the line. He earned the right to leave on his terms.
Eddie Howe is a fantastic spotter of young talent, he would have been great for us had he stayed for long enough.
Dyche made us a more professional and modern outfit, both in the development of our infrastructure and media projection. We stepped up in so many ways with him, but he stayed 18 months too long.
Company's championship season is the best football I've ever seen us play, the championship has never seen anything like it. On the contrary, I can't believe the debacle of his tenure in the following prem season, I reckon he knows on reflection that he should have built on the championship team.
Parker has done a fantastic job though it hasn't always felt like that as the season progressed, until SU went through a bad patch, I thought we'd fall short due to too many draws. It could be argued that because we made sure that if we couldn't win then at least don't get beat (Dycheism), that we were in a position to capitalise on SU's misfortune. Either way, Parker achieved the objective. The achievement of this team this season under his stewardship has been marvelous.
I believe that the togetherness of the squads that benefitted Kompany and Parker, the foundations were laid by Dyche. The man did so much for team harmony that has left a legacy on which others have found success, both players and managers.
I still want to see us play another season in the V shaped top, even though that particular season wasn't all that successful.
Tony Scholes should be given more inside access and allowed to report to us on here what's happening on a daily basis.

You've just said your opinions haven't changed so I'm well aware of them.
Parker won't see us score enough goals to get promoted. There's no chance we can continue to gain points as we outperformed our XG-, we won't finish in the top 2- there's shed loads of reasons you gave. I'm sure you can give us some more, but let's not pretend Parker could have done anything to change your mind.

Re: Full disclosure
I think the position Kompany and Parker walked into were both such that anything short of automatic promotion would have been a really big failure, although both managed to do it in a much more impressive manner than necessary.
I've come around to thinking that it is impossible now for a promoted team to stay in the Premier League (barring a strategy of spending hundreds of millions and accepting punishment later down the line) but I think Parker's Burnley have a chance to at least get into a relegation battle next season.
I think this season was really boring for a very long time. I don't know if it's reasonable to criticise it though.
I don't see any way ALK's ownership of BFC doesn't end awfully. It's a bit mind boggling to me that so many have bought into it.
I don't think a lot of Burnley fans are fully aware of how good a job Sean Dyche did at this club. In my eyes, considering budgets, he did things no other manager in England has done since and I don't think we'll ever see a similar manager/period of success at Burnley again.

I am sympathetic to the fact that you've taken a lot of heat this season for your previously relentless hammering home of your views of Parker and the xG statistic, but saying your contributions have made you look foolish isn't calling you a name. I didn't say you are a fool, or even that you are foolish as a trait, just that today, on this thread, that I think you've made yourself look more foolish that the other poster you set out to.
Genuinely, I hope you manage to find some enjoyment watching Burnley again next season. We've got a set of lads who've given everything for us.

Dyche preformed miracles, especially in that first promotion season. He was clever and pragmatic and built much of what we are currently benefitting from. He's a hero. Kompany was superb and that promotion season was an absolute joy. He messed on his copy book with the huge mistakes he made in his second season when he showed a very arrogant attitude. Parker has been brilliant so far, but there's arguably a bigger test to come. We'll see.

Dyche was excellent overall. Sometimes wasn’t happy with how he behaved around the media, but overall a good guy I think.
Dislike Kompany like I dislike Coyle. They both pulled the wool over my eyes and I’m annoyed at myself for allowing them to fool me. The football and the success was superb, but sheepsteeth and slabhead turned out to lack character.
When Parker was appointed, I was fairly happy. Had good form at this level so the appointment looked sound to me. He’s exceeded all my expectations, and it’s quite obvious he’s a team builder, excellent at motivating people and creating an excellent work environment for the players to flourish in. Speaks well, clearly has respect for people and it shows. Decent man I reckon.
As for Pace and the board, I’m reasonably happy with them too. Made good managerial appointments and behave like they want the best for the club. It may well be that it’s the best for the investors, but if it’s good for them it’s got to be good for us, so all power to them.
There are still plenty of people (certainly on here) who are still spewing because it’s going pretty well for us. I get the feeling there are those who can’t wait for it to go pear shaped so they can say “I told you so”. Their own self importance and their need to be right overruling the success of the club - it’s downright embarrassing to see, and just because they aren’t shouting from the rooftops, I just KNOW they are hovering, waiting for that moment. Whenever someone has something nice to say about Pace on here, the silence from some is deafening.
Re: Full disclosure
Kompany’s last season was the worst I have ever seen. It isn’t expansive football when we don’t get past the halfway line .
I still find it worrying how much it costs in interest payments to fund this project
We need to build on the team spirit not destroy it like we did under Kompany .

Messrs Cotterill, Dyche, Kompany and Parker all had their highlights and low lights for me.
Eddie Howe wrong time for us.
For all of us on here, special times revolve around right time, right place. Owen Coyle and our wonderful cup run, Play Off win and that incredible first Premier League game night under the Turf Moor lights when Robbie Blake smashed in that volley to beat Man U. A lifetime of happy memories shared with my sons over that period at Wembley and Turf Moor will always top my BFC “happy place” chart.
Was gutted when he left, fully understand why he did. Would still buy him a pint if I bumped into him in the pub.

You're picking out reasoning/things I said back in October and before. Lots of things changed since then, be weird if the reasoning behind that wasn't also changed.
He could have changed my mind. Still could. Just hasn't.
And I "took a sabbatical" because I was posters saying I should stop posting on here because I was saying that signing an unfit Jonjo Shelvey was a waste of money and that Bauress and McDermott were ready for some first team football. I was dead wrong there, obviously.

check the BBC football gossip page, everyday its ARSENAL offer 80 million for so and so, UTD in for someone from Benfica for 100 mill, CITY looking at a deal for someone from Milan for 90 trillion etc, etc,
Nowhere will you find us mentioned.
the coyle,. dyche, kompany, parker periods must go to highlight just how well these men managed a low budget club into the top flight against all the odds.
Its all dependent on who owns us, and key appointments of our managers.
those that have brought success deserve all the plaudits going. we have been punching way above for years now.

Just out of interest, 33 unbeaten, promotion, the goals were coming a lot more regularly the last few months - what would he have to do to change your opinion? Because if all that wasn't enough, seems to me that nothing will?Mattster wrote: ↑Sun May 18, 2025 10:37 pmYeah, I said my opinion of Parker hadn't changed (ie. that I still don't rate him).

Re: Full disclosure
I too thought Parker was an awful choice
Now I was wrong which doesn't happen often
I think most directors are in it for the money despite alleged love of their team
VAR and fast tracking shite refs are the worst 2 ideas ever.

Full disclosure:
I wish we were in hooped socks every year
The PL sucks
Connor Roberts' moustache looks awful
As much as I admire and appreciate the efforts of the board and Mr Pace to date, I'm always slightly concerned what will happen next as he believes his hand is being guided by a man on a cloud
