Re: ARTICLE: Mee to leave Brentford
He’ll always be welcome at Turf Moor……….Captain Fantastic!
Re: ARTICLE: Mee to leave Brentford
We've had some outstanding individuals, excellent people represent our club these last ten or fifteen years. The list is, fortunately, long: Grezza, Wade Elliott, Tom Heaton, Michael Duff and I could go on.
But if I was forced to name one it would be Ben Mee. A leader in every sense of the word.

Could see him signing for Wrexham. Fantastic player for us, wish him all the best.

3 of those have gone onto be football league managers as well. I imagine Ben Mee will add to that at some pointecc wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 10:25 amWe've had some outstanding individuals, excellent people represent our club these last ten or fifteen years. Can’t believe it’s three years since he left.
I’ll always wish Ben Mee the best in his career. He is a fanastic player, captain and more importantly person.

Re: ARTICLE: Mee to leave Brentford
Left when we were on our arse...fair do's I guess..his prerogative...can't see where he'd fit back in now. Quality character by all accounts mind.
Re: ARTICLE: Mee to leave Brentford
Id re raise that to, left when we were considering if he could still do a job and wouldn't offer a contract with enough years on it. Something Brentford did and were rewarded the following season with when he was the player of the season for them. Funny old game.
Re: ARTICLE: Mee to leave Brentford
Ben Mee was offered a deal right at the end of his time here, leaving him with an uncertain future and it was on reduced terms due to relegation. He was also unlikely to fit in to the new managers plans. He'd proven himself as a PL CB, moved to Brentford and was supporters player of the year.
I honestly have no idea how anyone can critisice him for leaving without criticising the club for not tieing him down.
The reality is it was probably the right time for both parties. Some people act like jilted lovers when a player leaves.

Re: ARTICLE: Mee to leave Brentford
You're responding to some imaginary criticism you've dreamt up boyanno....not to what I actually posted.
Re: ARTICLE: Mee to leave Brentford
How else did you mean- "left when we were on our arse...fair do's I guess"?
I'm not sure what purpose adding the bit about us being on our arse serves other than to try and subtly add critisicm.

Re: ARTICLE: Mee to leave Brentford
Overthinking it...
He left when we were on our arse. (fact)
Fair do's. ( it was justified)
Quality character ( you probably missed that bit)
Can't see where he'd fit in. ( I can't...perhaps some can?)
Re: ARTICLE: Mee to leave Brentford
I think it was more a case of us not wanting to pay him 60k a week in the champ.

On sensible wages I'd have him back in a heartbeat.
