If guilty, I hope they throw the book at them. It’s about time someone was made an example of.

Gary Lineker will get a group together to help them dodge sanctions like previously.

When they actually deal with Manchester City then I’ll be quite happy for them to go after everybody else.

A bit awkward as they keep going up and down. Tribunal has decided that the Premier League have the power to charge not the EFL so points might not be deducted, until/if ever, they get promotion back to the Premier.

No. If there is a points deduction it will be next season in the Championship.

City haven’t got away with anything and I’m not aware of Preston having been charged with any racism, and if they had it would be a matter for the FA and not the leagues.

I think that the Prem and EFL have come to an agreement which will stop teams from using the we aren't in your jurisdiction any more in the future.

It shouldn't make a difference whether you used fraud to get out of a league, or into a league. It's the same offence against both leagues.

Probably manage to argue down to 2 if they admit they were in the wrong. Like Everton.... "get a reduction if you hold your hands up and don't challenge us" type attitude.

12 point minimum is a bit harsh considering the amount Everton and Forest overspent

A deterrent is only a deterrent if it deters.
Too many would happily overspend for a 2pt hit, so precedence doesn't come into it.
If it takes 12pts to stop other clubs thinking it is worth it, then it isn't harsh at all. It's just right.

I'm all for the punishment but it should be the same across the board, all clubs should be treated the same

Reading got hammered on several occasions due to Dai the Deaths incompetent running. Some clubs bounce back but others go under.

I’m amazed still with the patience of the Newcastle owners.

They may as well just go for it and buy everyone they want and take the few point deduction that might come their way in a few years.

It's an impossible argument to make. You have to have a starting point, but if that starting point doesn't work you don't continue with it, knowing it's going to fail.
IF a 12pt penalty doesn't stop others from overspending give the next culprit 20pts.

Isn't Leicester's overspending overlapping with the seasons Everton and Forest got done for too though?
The FA/Premier League need to wipe the slate clean and say from this season it's a 3 year cycle and these are the punishments and actually stick to them

The whole thing is a farce. They pick on the smaller clubs but allow the likes of Man City, Chelsea, Newcastle etc. to be bankrolled by Saudis and the like.

It doesn't matter, 2 wrongs don't make a right.
The only thing that matters is they get it right this time.

Absolutely it's a farce. It plays into the PL becoming the "closed shop" they want in the top half. Granted, Spurs and Man U have let them down this season, but they'll be back. They'll punish the lesser teams at any opportunity, but as we've seen with City and Chelsea, they'll drag their heels on the big boys. They need them for the brand. Leicester, Forest, and Everton don't matter. They're small fry, so they'll happily make examples of them. Don't get me wrong, if Leicester broke the rules they should be punished, but it does look like "one rule for us, and another rule for them" at the moment.

Given their historic unwillingless to play by the rules I'd dock them 122 points.

Relegate them to the conference unless they sacrifice Lineker in the centre circle live on TV.

City aren't being done for the same offenses as Sheff U, Leicester, Reading, Everton, Forest etc.. Their charges are mainly of (criminally) fraudulent sponsorships and third party sponsorships, which did not actually break the PL rules at the time but were retrospectively applied - many of those rules have been declared as not permissible for making retrospective, hence the Man City claims of victory. The Third Party charges would require the court to rule that many extremely wealthy and powerful figures in the Gulf deliberately lied to conceal the true source of funding - good luck on succeeding with that! And without those offences being proved then the PSR charges are invalid too.

Don't get me wrong, I think City are as guilty as can be. But knowing it and proving it are completely different things.

If indeed that is what he wrote. They’ve tried really hard to work it out. I can’t help but feel it’s not quite right. Ian was a genius for lyrics.
