For those that liked American Primeval. 1883 on Netflix is a good watch.
Re: Netflix / Prime recommendations
Couple of people already mentioned it, but Yellowjackets is well worth a watch. Not entirely gore-free, admittedly, but has been really good so far.

Yet another shout for Adolescence. Filmed like a fly-on-the-wall documentary and benefits from this.
We enjoyed Zero Hour with Robert De Niro, but may not be everyone's cuppa.

Netflix is now showing the film Sisu- I work a lot in Finland and Sisu is almost something in the soul of Finnish person. This is a bloody good film to understand what Sisu is.

Also watched Adolescence, great acting and really important story for any parent. Probably the first realistic portrayal of a U.K. school I’ve seen on tv.
Also the first episode in particular is technically incredible. Like a dullard I didn’t pick up on it being all one shot until about 20 minutes in..

Watched the first two episodes of Adolescence tonight. Harrowing and brilliant in equal measure.
Hopefully starts a few more conversations about what’s going on in the heads of (hopefully a minority of) teenage boys.

Didn't know anything about it, but just finished watching it- superb hidden gem of a war/action/vengeance film!

Re: Netflix / Prime recommendations
Hello fellow Clarets,
Has anybody watched "Joe Pickett", a Paramount series about a game warden in Wyoming?
I've just watched the first episode and it looks pretty good.

American Manhunt - the search for Osama Bin Laden, a 3 part behind-the-scenes documentary on Netflix.
The final episode with the very risky Navy Seals raid on the compound is particularly interesting - although it was real life, the actual events unfolded like something out of a Hollywood action movie!

Finally got round to watching “ This City is Ours” it’s decent enough ,well acted if a little cliched . It’s not as good as Kin but a steady 7/10 as these generic gangland series go.

absolute nuts, interestingly those Helicopters were never publicly seen before they were used and they've never been seen since. It makes me wonder what other stuff the US has that we don't know about !Vintage Claret wrote: ↑Tue May 20, 2025 1:34 pmAmerican Manhunt - the search for Osama Bin Laden, a 3 part behind-the-scenes documentary on Netflix.

Not so much a recomendation, but "Havoc" was absolute bilge. Was surprised it had such a decent cast and director. Must have been a tax loss of some kind

Re: Netflix / Prime recommendations
I watched it last week. Difficult to watch at times when they interviewed relatives of their victims. His son, who featured, has also served a prison sentence for having sex with a young teenage girl. Imagine though being brought up with those two.Muric Leggings wrote: ↑Sun Jun 01, 2025 9:35 amWatched Fred and Rose West A British horror story last night quite a revealing documentary still leaves doubts about who was the driving force in those two's relationship,Fred comes across as completely numb and Rose seems a maniac

Re: Netflix / Prime recommendations
Hello again.
Now on episode nine and not wanting it to finish.
When you read "series about a game warden in Wyoming", you might think "Wow, sounds a must."
However, it's got a lot going for it:
Different. So many series these days that finding something new is very tough.
Set in beautiful rural areas with fine landscapes.
Well-written. The plot has its twists and turns but what stands out is the dialogue and the acting. The lead role, the game warden, is played by Michael Dorman who is actually Australian. He's a man of few words but is an excellent actor. Sometimes great acting is about facial expression, body movement and not just the delivery of dialogue.
It's got action but it's more about the richness of its characters and a genuine feel for a small-town community set in America's least populous state.

Hi wilks,
Good to see I'm not alone!
No, I agree with you about not spoling it. Tried to encourage people to watch when it might initially not seem worth it. But without saying too much about the plot. Not easy.
Re: Netflix / Prime recommendations
Just spotted BBC and Netflix have released 'The Bombing of Pan AM 103' - a six part drama around the Lockerbie disaster and fight for justice
Sounds very similar to Lockerbie from SKY which was only released recently.

Just finished watching this 6 part series. I remember the night the plane went down being on the news but didn’t really follow the story from the initial days so this series was very interesting to watch.

Another shout here for Mobland. If you can get past the Irish accents from Brosnan and Mirren, particularly the former, then you’re in for a treat with it.

Re: Netflix / Prime recommendations
not a recommendation, just a query.
have you had this as a problem ? I was watching versailles on prime, but episodes were missing.
nothing on the screen indicated this, so i contacted them and their reply was it happens due to content provider having contractual reasons regarding rights ??
so they decide availibility of the episodes the viewer can watch.
all sounds utter nonsense, I asked what the point was of only making bits of a series watchable, its clearly nuts, skipping a couple makes it impossible to keep up with the story.

I was watching the Antwerp episode last night and noticed one of my good mates from growing up in Padiham was in it. He was protecting the gate of the mansion in the Cotswold and told the family that Jan was leaving the property over the walkie talkie.Claretforever wrote: ↑Sun Jun 08, 2025 1:16 pmAnother shout here for Mobland. Having looked up the info he appears in 7 episodes as Davey short arm, so I'm going to have to watch them all back.
Dean Ashton from Padiham went to Gawthorpe in my year 89-94. He went to Bricklaying college at Elm St Mill with me and did glass collecting at Panama Joe's at night.
Then one day just decided to take a chance and head to London to go to dancing and acting college. We all thought he was mad but he has had small parts in plenty of things.
