I think he'd be much better off at Partizan, Wo Didi.
I think you’re probably right there ecc

I don't like it at all for a number of reasons and I've spoken to supporters at clubs who have become an owner's number two club who claim their clubs have been ruined.
I didn't like it either. I suspect they are scouring the world looking for leveraged buyouts but have yet to find another club with £80 million in the bank.

New rule required along the lines of ‘ no transfers or loans of players are allowed between clubs whose ownership is linked in any way ‘
Obviously rich owners would try to circumvent the rule but surely top lawyers could at least make life very difficult for the Chelsea etc

With all the clubs under Man City's ownership, would they have anyone left to transfer players to/from?

That would be the whole point of the rule. Well actually the main purpose of the rule would be to stop owners having interests in multiple clubs.

I’m confused - article on main page stating he’s in discussions over a new deal but several media outlets reporting he’s signed 5 years in France?

The links to France could be a ploy to get Burnley to pay up during the contract negotiations. CJ is in a strong position

I'm 50/50 confident on this. I really hope he stays. My head says he will, my heart says he won't.
I just can't see any major reason why he would leave after such a successful season, alongside his housemate and pal, to join a team where things might not work out for him.
But money talks...

Feels similar to the Ben Mee situation where he wanted to leave Burnley and wouldnt sign a contract but nobody wanted him so eventually he signed. I suspect Egan-Riley wants away to get a better club and a bigger deal but nobody actually wants someone that unproven yet.

As I posted further back it seems West Ham might be in for Egan Riley.
West Ham feel talk that a deal is done for Egan-Riley to join Strasbourg is ‘premature’.
The club have also told the player they believe he can make a push for the England squad if he joins West Ham and is playing week in, week out in the Premier League.
Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg has also reaffirmed information to Hammers News regarding the current state of play.
“West Ham are continuing to look at a deal for Burnley centre-back CJ Egan-Riley despite interest from elsewhere,” said Steinberg, who is well connected at the London Stadium and Chelsea.

He’d need a pair of big ******** to join West Ham. Their fans will assume he’s not good enough from the outset and he’ll get little patience.

Should be guaranteed first team football with us - so hopefully we can get a deal done and as others have said perhaps this story smacks a bit of agent / leverage type shennanigans.

But I think a huge factor in his thinking has to be what will playing for Burnley be like next season. With the best will in the world it's going to be bloody tough and wins are going to be few and far between and hidings fairly frequent. If you have the opportunity to opt out like he has and play in a more stable team/squad and actually further your career rather than have a potentially humiliating relegation on your CV it's highly likely he'll go, especially with his stock currently very high and so would most players.

For me, great decision by him and his family.
Players sign a contract for a set period, honour that and leave, i dont see the issue.
How is it a great decision?

Heaton, Cork, Tarks, Keane, Pope, Ings all showed its possible to play for your country by playing consistently, and playing well , even in a lower PL side. THey flourished whilst with us. Howard Bellis is a very good example of this too-he got an England cap by being a regular in the Southampton team- a team that has mustered just a dozen points all season. Holding your place in an established PL team, even those in the lower tier, is one hell of a challenge and players dont get the opportunity- with several poor performances they could be out forever. I am hoping the Scotty influence will see CJ, Esteve and Brownhill stay with us. If you need another example -Max Cornet

It could be seen as a good life decision. Strasbourg is a beautiful place, and you're near the German and Swiss borders. It's a great place to be in Europe in terms of location.

That’s fair, I just don’t see how signing for a mid - lower table side in France is good for his career though. I doubt they can afford to pay him more than a PL club and it takes him out of the shop window really. He’s got absolutely no chance of playing for Chelsea if he goes to France, he’ll just become yet another player for them to sell for FFP.
He’s got considerably more chance of playing for Chelsea if he signs for West Ham and West Ham will financially blow us out of the water. The France move makes no sense, I think he’ll end up at another PL club.

Badiashile Gusto Disasi Ugochukwu Amougou have all signed for Chelsea from France haven't they ?
Not sure playing in France means you have no chance of signing for Chelsea

It’s not playing in France that’s the problem, PSG will probably win the UCL. If it was Monaco or Marseille then fair enough, European football and a bigger wage at clubs historic for producing and developing top players.

That maybe so but any 'stick' he may get will be soothed by the freshly minted 3-4 year contract safely tucked away in his back pocket

Not to mention the hefty pay raise

Has there? I haven't noticed.
He got stick for his cameo against Rovers at home and he wasn't at his best for the Millwall game.
But he's been very good and a fans favourite.

There are definitely some haters on here, regardless of how well he's done

I think going to WH is a frying pan to the fire move right now, upheaval, plus new teammates, settling in. I think all 3 promoted teams will be looking at WH as a team they can get above, lots of problems, aging team, injuries, Potter had the worst performing team, going to be lots of changes, including Potter himself unless he can change things quickly.

I think loosing at home to a team about to be relegated via a 97th min panenka and falling out of the European places absolutely qualifies as sh1tting the bed

It would be really great if posters could refrain from passing off their hunches as fact, or worse, pretending to be in the know about things when they are very clearly not.
What exactly do people gain from posting in such a way?

His mates off… I know it isnt confirmed, but he’s away, and I can’t blame him after how he was treated by the muppets in the stands during our last PL foray.
The same mate who stood in the stands at Preston in the cup game interacting with the Burnley fans

Oh. Well then. I look forward to watching him play for us every week next season.
Happy with that.

He did an interview recently saying he wanted to leave last summer and admitted he sulked about not getting his move. He said he saw Newcastle as the ideal club for his development, if they come back in for him which sounds likely then I think he'll be gone. I wouldn't be surprised if we made a gentlemen's agreement with him to allow him his move this summer if he stayed last season.
Had a much better season but a lot of that was down to how good the team were as well, if we made good money on him then can't say I'd be too disappointed at him not being in goal in the premier league for us.

To be fair, Muric looked OK with a decent team in front of him.
Put him behind the team Trafford had to play behind and he was shite.
Remembering the abuse you gave Trafford on here I'm sure you'd love him to leave.

Never gave him any 'abuse', I said he wasn't ready for the premier league and I stand by that I'm still not totally convinced he's ready for the premier league this season.
Very strange you bring something up that's two seasons old to have a dig when I've not said anything wrong.
God Nori you really need to find a hobby.
