Re: Summer transfer window
There is a rationale to it, any academy prospects they sell are pure profit for PSR, hence a lot of clubs letting academy prospects go, City being a case study

Arsenal pal thinks Arsenal could be Traffords destination with rumours the Reyna could be going to Madrid, reckons they have scouted him about 8 times?

Re: Summer transfer window
I think he’ll be on better money there than he would get elsewhere and they will need experience, just as we have in that league over the years. I’d be surprised if he left.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 9:17 amMakes you wonder if Jay will hang around really. Re: Summer transfer window
I understand that. That’s what I’ve been saying about Trafford for the last two years.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 9:19 amThere is a rationale to it, any academy prospects they sell are pure profit for PSR, hence a lot of clubs letting academy prospects go, City being a case study
But, those two are not getting sold unless a world class replacement becomes available. McTom was let go to aid Collyer coming through, so unless Wharton (who is only slightly better currently and has the same ceiling) is available (who imo is going to be WC but under appreciated ala Carrick) Collyer won’t be going anywhere.
Gore, Hugill, Williams etc are potentially better options.
Re: Summer transfer window
They have, as have a huge European team, but he’s a home boy, and he wants to go home.Stockbrokerbelt wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 9:40 amArsenal pal thinks Arsenal could be Traffords destination with rumours the Reyna could be going to Madrid, reckons they have scouted him about 8 times?
City have the first option on him, and wouldn’t let him go to Arsenal.

Re: Summer transfer window
I don’t follow United closely, and have only seen the players mentioned a couple of times so no idea how much potential they have or how ready they are, but I would say it depends how much they plan on using them next season. If the players feel they won’t feature much and want premier league experience now, there may be a case for it.
United are in some financial difficulties, Academy players generate the most profit and there’s the potential to agree a low-ish buy back clause if they make it. Don’t feel it’s completely far fetched that we could do a deal that worked for everyone.

Re: Summer transfer window
I honestly don’t think at this stage of the season any links are likely to be more realistic than the speculation/hopium. Late August is always the time for transfers. Any links we do get at the moment are where we’re one of 3-4 teams being linked with a player, which is obviously just agents touting players about, which is less interesting than the discussion, in my view.ClaretOfMancunia wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 10:08 amAnyone heard of any actual links rather than speculation/hopium?

Re: Summer transfer window
Be a few start of June, especially with World Club Cup, but unlikely to affect out plans, unless we sweep up players pushed out of likely 25 man squads going forwards.....

They started a thread for just links and talk of just the link. It sank down the board through lack of links.

Re: Summer transfer window
Good potential news on CJ, and still hope Brownhill follows suit. Be great start for the PL if we can keep the first team squad together, though something tells me there's an inevitability of Trafford not staying as he has so many top clubs looking at him. Then invest in 4 maybe 5 good players who can play an active part for us in the PL, rather than last years frenzied search for new players, and the resulting freezing out of players who had helped get us gain promotion . Then the club, which has now become accustomed to moving out players can start on the high numbers of fringe players we seem to have built up, including the returning loanees.
The togetherness we seem to have built up through our manager might prove to be the difference between us and some teams at the lower end of the PL table next year. If we could sell Amdouini , use this money in tempting Tella to join us-a known quantity who we know will fit the now culture of the club and provide Scott with a number of attacking options

CJ signing on would allow us spend in other areas.

Re: Summer transfer window
Would be as good as anyone we could realistically sign this summer to get CJ and Brownhill agreed. Are they the key to staying up? I’m not sure any ‘one’ signing could hope to guarantee that, but it keeps the status quo of a fantastic culture and atmosphere. Anything else we could do would be additive then as opposed to firefighting replacements like last time.
Also means that if the worst does happen, we have some fantastic players for the rebound. Praying the above on both players is true.

For those who didn’t see it, CT posted elsewhere that he’d heard Brownhill had signed a week ago (or more, now).Darnhill Claret wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 6:10 pmCooclaret, is that information that you are privy to, or are you just going off what has been posted on here?
So in my mind it was just CJ to confirm and the news sounds promising on that front today.

Very honest and fair assessment from his father. He didn’t say what Zeki wants, although reading between the lines he’d favour a move, but he’s clear that we want €20m and respect to that were the decision maker and won’t be selling him cheaply.
Sounds like Benfica want him but have tried to lower the option price and we’ve said no. Well done to the club.
