Re: Summer transfer window
Luckily for us Calvert Lewin will be on at least 100k a week, will want the same or more plus a large signing on fee.
His last 4 seasons in the Prem have seen him score 5,2,7 and 3 goals.

Kasper Dolberg , Denmark striker currently at Anderlecht , linked.
Re: Summer transfer window
He was one of the hottest prospects in Europe at one point. Guessing he hasn't hit the heights that were expected if he's at Anderlecht. Not convinced this would be a great signing, feels like it's the kind of trap promoted clubs fall into regularly.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 10:42 amKasper Dolberg , Denmark striker currently at Anderlecht , linked.

Manure signed a Danish striker because his name sounded like Cities star. That's not worked out too well.

Noticed Brandon Williams is available. Yes, he's had off field issues, hence the stalling of his career, but if he's grown up a bit and is prepared to knuckle down he's still a prospect.

Amdouni price to high for Besiktas

Seems standard Turkish Club haggling style.
I dont think we are in a massive rush to sell and he could be useful off the bench.

Re: Summer transfer window
He was an outstanding prospect at Man Utd, and had two indifferent spells on loan. Suspect McKenna at Ipswich would have known him from Man Utd. Think he is the type of prospect you get to train with the club and offer him a contract dependent on how he fares in pre season and in friendlies. He would have to be good to displace Humphreys when hes fitDark Cloud wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 2:18 pmNoticed Brandon Williams is available. I could see one of the bigger clubs taking Calvert Lewin on a free, if he can stay fit he'd be a steady squad player.

Re: Summer transfer window
Could see DCL going to a team in Italy or Spain, not one of the top 3 or 4 for the tier below that. Nice weather, a decent level but one where he could slot a decent amount of goals. Como, Fiorentina, Sociedad, Valencia; somewhere like that.
What I can't see is him wanting a relegation scrap where he's going to have to work his a*se off to get a chance nevermind a goal. All while still living in the NW. Maybe I have him all wrong. Not necessarily a criticism either, I'd love to play football at Lake Como!

DCL needs to prove his fitness then he’d walk into a United (Newcastle to Manchester). He’s brilliant.willsclarets wrote: ↑Thu May 29, 2025 10:35 amCould see DCL going to a team in Italy or Spain, not one of the top 3 or 4 for the tier below that. Sadly, that’s the problem.
Re: Summer transfer window
The Dolberg in the early years at Ajax. Looked like he was going to be outstanding but he's gone backwards since then.
Re: Summer transfer window
Brentford have approached Liverpool over signing their £20m-rated Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, 26.
Can anyone explain how a 26 year old goalkeeper, with less than 70 senior appearances to his name, is worth £20m? The inflated prices in the PL are just ridiculous.

Re: Summer transfer window
Would you say CJ Egan Riley was going backwards at Burnley until his breakout season? He had played champions league at City and was highly rated.
What about Conner Roberts on loan at Leeds and not playing last year? Comes back and gets promoted.
Players just need a chance in a side that play to their strengths.

We write players off far too easy in this country after building them up as youngsters, that's why I questioned you.

NP. You're absolutely right. I don't wish to be "awkward" with you. The media love the "hero to zero" narrative.
I remember seeing Dolberg playing for the first time back in August 2016. He came on for Ajax in a CL qualifier in Rostov. It wasn't a vintage Ajax side. I vividly recall thinking "this lad's a player". My eldest agreed. We then started following him (I mean via the Internet). He scored 16 times in 29 games in his first season aged 20. He then got injured and gradually faded at Ajax (he was on the bench during their great run to the CL semi-finals).
He had fairly average spells in Germany and France. His two seasons at Anderlecht have been decent but don't correspond to the expectations people had for him eight years ago.
But, of course, were we to sign him and were he to do the business, I'd be delighted.

Re: Summer transfer window
Reports today are that Liam Delap wants to go to Chelsea joining his old City youth buddy Palmer. Considering that Traff and CJ are part of that same close knit group of pals it is easy to imagine them being attracted to a move (to Strasbourg in CJ’s case). I recall seeing at the weekend that JT is on Chelsea’s shortlist for a new keeper if they move Sanchez on.

That’s the exact type of profile that could see us pick up a class act at a bargain. If he’d developed as he was expected to he’d had already been out of our reach.
