Re: ARTICLE: We’re choosing the best home performance of the season
Between the last 2 games at home for me. For chances created it would probably be Millwall but taking into account the sheer intensity surrounding the Sheff Utd. fixture I've opted for that one. Close call though.

Was only 1-0 but I'd go for Bristol City. Thought we were really good that day

I went for Hull
I think people have forgotten just how good that first half was
It was pretty much perfect
An absolute delight to watch

Re: ARTICLE: We’re choosing the best home performance of the season
I would vote for the 1-1 v Blackburn, because we had our 'new' team out for the first timer, and they gelled brilliantly. More than we could have hoped for!
Why can't I vote for it?

Looks like its just the wins on the voting list InRBIm_not_Robbie_Blake wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 3:05 pmI would vote for the 1-1 v Blackburn, because we had our 'new' team out for the first timer, and they gelled brilliantly. More than we could have hoped for!

Sheff Utd as it was such an important game and secured promotion. A brilliant display of finding a way to win, and managing the game
Re: ARTICLE: We’re choosing the best home performance of the season
I’ll probably go for Sheff Utd which was as much about mentality as performance, and we got both spot on.
I also really enjoyed the Watford game just before Christmas though. I thought we were excellent that day which was one of the first times I thought we were really starting to knit everything together.

I went for Watford. Really enjoyed the role Hannibal played that night. He was superb. Brownhill’s goal was an outstanding team goal.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 3:23 pmI’ll probably go for Sheff Utd which was as much about mentality as performance, and we got both spot on.

Tough.
I went for Sheff Utd, because of what was riding on it, but our best football was Bristol City, only 1 but it could have been 6.

I also went for Watford. Again, it was the first time I came off thinking that the players had started to gel, and that they really had it in them to make a charge for promotion. 2-1 absolutely flattered Watford, and Tom Cleverley said the same after the game, and that Burnley were the best team they’d played.
In my opinion, the best performance, but not the one that ultimately mattered, like Sheff U.

At the time I thought Bristol was our best performance but I think we were better v Millwall, especially with it being their cup final.matttheclaret wrote: ↑Tue May 27, 2025 1:30 pmWas only 1-0 but I'd go for Bristol City. Thought we were really good that day

Re: ARTICLE: We’re choosing the best home performance of the season
Was tempted by Luton because we ran them a merry dance just as they were getting their fight together. Discarded because Luton were dreadful all season.
Very nearly went with Watford as we nearly kept the ball the entire game. Didn't because in spite of this we only won by one goal and should have been 3 or 4 to the good.
Opted finally for Sheffield United. Swatted away our coattail hangers with a deft and professional performance.

I was torn between Watford Luton Bristol City and Sheffield Utd I chose Luton as it was the one that convinced me we were going up automatically although I really did believe as champions when everyone seemed to be resigned to the play offs

Re: ARTICLE: We’re choosing the best home performance of the season
Obviously we played well against Bristol C., but I would say that taking your chances is an important part of any performance, and in that game we could easily have dropped points right at the end because we had squandered so may opportunities to kill off the game, so not the best for me.
With everything riding on it we were completely professional, and in total control for most of the Sheff U home game, and showed great resilience and spirit to come back from conceding an early goal.

Im tempted by Sunderland at home, think those double saves were significant. A real season turner.
Re: ARTICLE: We’re choosing the best home performance of the season
Some draws we had were excellent performances. Far better performances than many of the win candidates. Leeds at home especially, we really battled and showed a lot of grit that day.
I have the right to abstain, so I am doing that

Re: ARTICLE: We’re choosing the best home performance of the season
Looking back there have been some great home performances.
We were imperious against Cardiff in our first home game. We would surely have won the league with a record number of points if that team had stayed together.
We dominated against Bristol and should have scored 4 or 5 that day, that performance gave us the springboard to our fantastic finish to the season.
We were clinical against Wednesday and Luton and it was brilliant to see us in such free scoring form.
But the performance of the season has to be the Sheffield United victory. We put in a great performance when it really mattered to seal promotion and it felt absolutely wonderful. This gets my vote.

Re: ARTICLE: We’re choosing the best home performance of the season
I'd argue that not losing at home v Blackburn was one of the most important performances of the season, especially with everything going on
But we were pretty dreadful that day against 10 men, and could have easily lost. Nowhere near our best performance. One of our worst

I’d vote for those saves as the best “ moment “ of the season - So many up and down emotions in such a short space of time. But the overall performance that day wasn’t great
Sheff Utd gets my vote for this one

Re: ARTICLE: We’re choosing the best home performance of the season
The five best home performances that I saw were Watford before Christmas, Bristol City, Norwich, Sheffield United and Millwall.
But of those, I think Norwich and Bristol City were the best performances in terms of quality of football, but neither were entirely complete. But I thought given the size of the occasion we were outstanding against Sheffield United and given the significance of the game I find it hard to look beyond it.
