About time
Re: Benkenstein leaves LCCC
Looks like flixtonclaret has pulled the trigger, he's underperformed this season without doubt.

Re: Benkenstein leaves LCCC
Was in the radio this morning talking about recruitment.
No doubt about it, bottom of the 2nd division is not even close to being good enough.

Re: Benkenstein leaves LCCC
Could never understand how he got the job. Oversaw Gloucestershire finishing bottom of the first division, getting relegated then finishing bottom of the second.

Re: Benkenstein leaves LCCC
It begs the question who was responsible for hiring him, Chilton, Gidney, Anson or mixture of all three?

Kent, Lancashire and Middlesex at the foot of the Division Two table. Money (or the lack of it) now becoming as influential in cricket as in football upon deciding which clubs can hang on to, and attract, the best available talent.

Re: Benkenstein leaves LCCC
i hadn't realised that his previous coaching role at Gloucestershire had resulted in bottom of league 1 and the season after bottom of league 2!!
Its amazing Lancashire aren't even bottom of league 2!!

We’ve got loads of talent, but none of them ever play for us.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 1:57 pmKent, Lancashire and Middlesex at the foot of the Division Two table. Lancashire are one of the haves, not one of the have nots. A fact that makes the current situation even more unacceptable.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 1:57 pmKent, Lancashire and Middlesex at the foot of the Division Two table. My sources tell me that Charles Cairoli will be appointed LCCC head coach in the coming week or so.

Re: Benkenstein leaves LCCC
Lancashire need to focus their attention on the game of cricket rather than concerts. For a county its size it’s unbelievable the lack of decent crickets they are bringing through which probably points again to the coaching side of the club.
Since Flintoff and Anderson I can’t think of one player who has consistently played for England over a period of time.

Re: Benkenstein leaves LCCC
Plenty of short format players for England, but agreed, few test players. That said, the longevity of JM Anderson pretty much keeps the average up.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Thu May 29, 2025 10:44 amLancashire need to focus their attention on the game of cricket rather than concerts. One of the genuine, all time sporting greats, and he's from Burnley, Lancashire.

Re: Benkenstein leaves LCCC
Bodge my Lancastrian born friend….. is it true that Yorkshire have got less points this season than the total shambles that is Lancashire cricket club? And that the captain has decided to swan off and leave them in the lurch for some franchise nonsense? And that a southerner is now leading the team?
Re: Benkenstein leaves LCCC
I didn't realise you were an admirer of Putin, Skipton has always come under the auspices of the white rose.
I have to admire your chutzpah when you are second bottom of a league headed up by Leicestershire and Derbyshire.
Johnny has gone to a competition heavily populated this year by your Lanky heroes, Salt, Buttler and Tim David, I understand you may see Johnny in action opening for Mumbai this afternoon.
Meanwhile over at EOT, senior management are in talks with Black Lace for a bumper gig in July, a real money spinner for the club.

Nonfer Bess, no wickets, no wins, no Yorkshire in him….. he’s as Yorkshire as a lad from Earby.
Nice to get a win in the competition Yorkshire haven’t ever won last night……

Re: Benkenstein leaves LCCC
This question was tabled at yesterday’s AGM and is nothing short of a cheap shot at the club and its management.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Thu May 29, 2025 10:44 amLancashire need to focus their attention on the game of cricket rather than concerts. Funny how nobody complained about concerts in 2022 when (unfortunately)we finished 2nd in all 3 Mens competitions.
DB in hindsight did not work out. Mark Chilton explained at the AGM yesterday how difficult it is to appoint Head Coaches at County level given all the opportunities that are available on short term very lucrative contracts worldwide.
Looks like the players have got their mojo back - let’s get behind Crofty and Chilts- keep the faith folks.

Re: Benkenstein leaves LCCC
There was uproar on social media about DB being appointed as he had an awful record in the the county championship.
Not sure hindsight is needed on this occasion.

It looked a shocking decision when he was appointed and nothing happened to change that.
