Has 2024/25 Premier League season been boring ?
Liverpool the Champions by a mile
Relegation decided long ago
Numerous mid table average teams with nothing to play for
I for one gave no interest in watching say Fulham v Wolves etc.
is the quality falling or is it just the 3 promoted teams making it easy for the average teams to survive ?
Will it change next season ?

Id say so yes

It's been more interesting with most of the usual suspects struggling but not much else.

League positions and titles don't make a season boring. That's down to a lack of quality and for me there has been some good football played if not by the sides you’d expect. Brentford and Bournemouth have both entertained me with their attacking style.
As long as there are foreign owners and European prize money promoted clubs will struggle.

Quite possibly the most boring season ever, unless you are a Liverpool or Forest fan.
For the neutral, watching Man Utd & Spurs fail is quite amusing considering they play each other in the also ran final.

It’s been a good season for me
But when Burnley aren’t in it - you naturally pay less attention to it

It would have been better had one of the promoted clubs been good so that spurs, man u and West ham were all trying to avoid going down.

The games selected are predictable why do Sky insist on showing multiple Spuds and Arsenal games? City used to be a decent watch but 0-0 against the worst Saints team in years scotched that rumour and their pedantic ponderous build up cost them the FA cup.
Re: Has 2024/25 Premier League season been boring ?
Really enjoyed this season. Much prefer watching the Premier League when we’re not in it!!
Palace and Newcastle winning domestic cups, really enjoyed watching Brentford, Bournemouth, Forest and Fulham in patches, City struggling was hilarious, United and Spurs even funnier.
Then individual players like Mbuemo, Wharton, Raul Jiminez, Kerkez, Morgan Gibbs-White, Murphy at Newcastle have had great seasons and their development has been great to watch. I can’t stand him …… but watching Bruno Fernandes single handedly drag his team along in Europe in some games was great too.
Loads going on this season. It’s not all about how the big sides do, tons of stories.

I think forests approach has been a breath of fresh air and good to see the classic number 10 playmaker used with defenders who can actually defend.

The most entertaining and absorbing aspect of this years PL has been the ongoing battle to finish 16th.

Re: Has 2024/25 Premier League season been boring ?
2 things to watch out for on the last day of the season
The Champions League Places
The Battle for (avoiding) 17th
Fulham v Man City
Man U v Villa
Forest v Chelsea
Newcastle v Everton
Spurs v Brighton
Wolves v Brentford
Ipswich v WHU
I have a feeling the live table is gonna flip-flop continuously for the last half hour

With so many more PL games being shown live next season (as Sky keep reminding us) I am sure we will be treated to a host of different kick off times over several days/nights.
Along with several other posters I much prefer the Championship but accept that for the club to continue finances dictate that PL money is essential.

Re: Has 2024/25 Premier League season been boring ?
I am seriously considering letting my mate have my season ticket next season. I will obviously keep an eye on the results and I will probably attend the odd game but I feel as though as I have had enough of the corporate, corrupted **** show.
That's just how I feel at the moment and it may change but I become more disillusioned every passing year.
It doesn't seem to be reflected in general as attendances continue to be very good so maybe I am in the minority?

Re: Has 2024/25 Premier League season been boring ?
If not for the bottom 3 being hopeless I'd say it's been one of the better ones.
Man City, Man U, Spurs all struggling. Palace, Bournemouth, Forrest and Villa all fighting for European spots. It's been more competitive than for a long time. APART from those bottom three.
We need to buck the trend, and we are capable of it, but it's never going to be easy.

Re: Has 2024/25 Premier League season been boring ?
There is a very good fan debate podcast with Gary Neville this week on the future of football. There’s even Liverpool fans dissilusioned with the game. When you’ve just won the league, it’s a sad state of affairs. Paul scholes is excellent on there.Anonymous Claret wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 7:00 pmI am seriously considering letting my mate have my season ticket next season. Thanks. I will have a listen to that.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 7:17 pmThere is a very good fan debate podcast with Gary Neville this week on the future of football. It's not reflected in the attendances though and that is what is puzzling me?
Are more tourists attending, population growth, an older generation continuing to attend out of decades long habits/obsessions? Anything else?

Re: Has 2024/25 Premier League season been boring ?
One of the consequences of the 3 newly promoted clubs getting relegated in back to back seasons is that it gives all of the other clubs on the fringes to become more established and to be able to recruit better quality players.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 7:17 pmIf not for the bottom 3 being hopeless I'd say it's been one of the better ones.

It may well turn out that the 3 bottom clubs aren’t hopeless (as you imply) but simply that the standard in the PL is now becoming far removed from those clubs playing in the Championship.
A real problem for the PL if the 3 promoted clubs go straight back down again next season.

They touch on that in the podcast. Long story short, the fans are replaced by tourists for thousands of pounds more.Anonymous Claret wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 7:35 pmThanks. I will have a listen to that.

Re: Has 2024/25 Premier League season been boring ?
I think it's been poor. Liverpool have been average by their high standards in lots of games and walked the league. Bottom 3 gone early. No jeopardy, no real entertainment for me. That said I think the pace and power has been scary, which is why Spurs and Utd finished where they did and it's difficult not to worry for us next season.
Re: Has 2024/25 Premier League season been boring ?
I know its not very scientific but just watching on TV it feels like the top grounds are full of tourists. The club owners would obviously prefer a family of tourists who spend a fortune on tat in the club shop than your "traditional" fan, who might have a few pints in town and just go to the game and go home.Anonymous Claret wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 7:35 pmThanks. Re: Has 2024/25 Premier League season been boring ?
Hardly sticking one's neck out if a bet was put on for that to happen. Rarely, if ever, watch Premier League football and I think I can safely say that won't change much next season apart from when we are playing. Should be excited and anticipating a new season but what has quickly become the futility of it all makes it something to be endured rather than enjoyed.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sun May 25, 2025 8:03 pmA real problem for the PL if the 3 promoted clubs go straight back down again next season.
