Was he number 6?KlyBfc wrote: ↑Fri May 30, 2025 8:29 pmI watched on you tube. I thought the young lad who played in centre midfield for last part if the Chelsea game and most of the second game looked a player. Similarly the centre midfield with the fair hair tried to and did a lot of good things too. The number 3 was a clearly further physically more mature than a lot of the others but he could play too.

I watched a fair bit of it. I thought the blond haired lad in midfield was very good. The sub we brought on up front made an impact.

Under 12s, like this tournament and u13s are the main age groups that are significantly affected by puberty onset. A player who is genuinely good may suddenly lose all co-ordination but become taller, stronger and faster than some teammates. Or an average sort of player may shoot up and find technical levels they had not previously shown. And the late developers have to quickly learn to overcome the weight/speed disadvantage they find themselves in. Fascinating age groups to manage.

Quite impressed really. food and drink available , stands and shelter should it rain.. interesting hearing all the different accents chatted to a chap from Dallas and one from dortmund. Worth an hour of anyone’s spare time

Re: Dude Perfect International Youth Cup - starts Friday
Agree a real mix of ability but an awareness of game intelligence at this age was not bad. Burnley had a centre half about a foot or two taller than nearly every other side , but not blessed with pace. You could spot some young lads though with a real first touch and balance , head up play. It is what it is for the age group. Have to say also though the pitches are amazing never got to play on anything that good in my younger days absolute bowling greensbfcmik wrote: ↑Fri May 30, 2025 9:13 pmUnder 12s, like this tournament and u13s are the main age groups that are significantly affected by puberty onset. Impressive stuff. I would definitely have tried to pop in one day this weekend had I been living locally. How many spectators can Gawthorpe accommodate, and are they really trying to attract them through publicity etc or do they need to manage the numbers?

Don't think there's a limit on numbers. The only restriction is possibly the car parking capacity at the College. Can certainly accommodate far more than there are at attending at present.lewishamclaret wrote: ↑Sat May 31, 2025 9:08 amImpressive stuff. Losing 2 nil to Dallas at the minute, with about 15 mins to play.

Were seemingly cruising against the Swiss until they scored after50 mins.
Really felt for the poor lad in goal who must have thought the game was over.
Currently in ET, 10 mins left (I think). 4-5 down.

Just watched this on YouTube, were cruising and just seemed to run out of steam and lose our rhythm, finished 5-4, was this at a knock out stage having played extra time.JimmyRobbo wrote: ↑Sat May 31, 2025 3:12 pmWere seemingly cruising against the Swiss until they scored after50 mins.

Re: Dude Perfect International Youth Cup - starts Friday
The Dude Perfect International Youth Cup has now entered the knockout phase, with teams jostling for position on a warm Saturday at Burnley Training Centre.
Valencia, Genk, Chelsea, and Celtic were the big winners as they progressed to the semi finals of the Cup competition.
AC Milan, Brentford, Braga and FC Zurich booked their place in the last four of the Plate competition after finishing in the bottom halves of their groups.
Saturday’s 16 matches produced 83 goals, working out at just over five per match on average (5.18).
The final group stage matches were played between 10am and 12pm, with the first four matches yielding victories for Borussia Dortmund, Genk and FC Dallas, while Valencia and AC Milan drew 1-1.
Lech Poznan then produced an emphatic 8-3 victory over Brentford and Sevilla beat FZ Zurich, with Celtic overcoming Hertha Berlin and Chelsea beating Werder Bremen.
As such, Valencia and Lech Poznan topped Group A, Genk and Borussia Dortmund finished top of Group B, Chelsea and FC Dallas were the best two teams in Group C, and Celtic and Hertha Berlin were top of the pile in Group D.
Chelsea produced the best performance of the knockout phase so far, beating Hertha Berlin 11-1 to progress to the Cup semi-finals. Valencia and Genk both kept clean sheets in winning their respective last eight matches.
In the Plate competition, FZ Zurich produced a stunning fightback to beat Burnley after extra time. After being 3-0 down, they won 5-4.
Brentford also needed extra time to beat Sevilla 4-2, while AC Milan withstood a late rally from Kolding to win 3-2.
Supporters are welcome to attend the final day of the tournament (Sunday) for free, with the Cup and Plate brackets set to be decided.
There will also be individual awards given out for the Player of the Tournament, Golden Glove and Top Goalscorer, so there is plenty to play for.
To claim your free ticket in advance of the day, you can get them on the Club's ticketing site.

What do you mean no presence on the final day?
The bottom 2 of each group play for the Plate which the lads won last year. Top 2 of each group play for the Cup.....
Re: Dude Perfect International Youth Cup - starts Friday
They’ve been knocked out of the Plate. They’ll still play one more game in a positional play off though.Claretnick wrote: ↑Sat May 31, 2025 6:03 pmWhat do you mean no presence on the final day?

Burnley will be gutted with that, was poor after being so dominant in the first half.
The Brentford Vs Seville game was a cracker too. Very emotional Spanish players, fans and coaches
