Re: Summer transfer window
Was he the kid from Birmingham?
Re: Summer transfer window
Brownhill 18 goals last season, James 0. Not sure it’s exactly looking at a ‘like for like’ there. James perhaps more of a combative CM and more involved in the build up, rather than a box crasher like Brownhill. Still only 20. Some data comparisons between the two:

Re: Summer transfer window
Jordan James looked decent for Wales in the last televised game. But then Donkey Moore did so perhaps that isn't realistic indicator

Re: Summer transfer window
He has been playing in the reserves since he was about 14 and plenty of people knew about him, certainly Evertonians did.
In the same way many of us recognize the name John Cofie.
I’d been told about Rooney by my Everton supporting mates a couple of years before his first goal.

Re: Summer transfer window
My knowledge of youth team football is almost non existent and I’d heard of him many times when he was in his early teens so that kind of blows your theory out of the water.
Anyway I wasn’t disagreeing with you about the kid from Liverpool, he could be very good and be a smart move. I just don’t think comparisons to Rooney are sensible

Re: Summer transfer window
I believe at Rennes he plays a bit deeper, at Birmingham he had 8 goals from midfield. Which isnt a bad outlay for a then 18-19 year old.RVclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 01, 2025 8:50 amBrownhill 18 goals last season, James 0. Not sure it’s exactly looking at a ‘like for like’ there. His position at Birmingham was higher up the pitch by the looks of it.

Re: Summer transfer window
So not known at 12 then?
I played against him in his teens for the town team and can safely say nobody had heard of him then.
Re: Summer transfer window
You can safely say you hadn’t heard of him.
That’s a big difference.
As other have already demonstrated, he was well known from a very young age and a good few years before the Arsenal goal.
You hadn’t. And that’s fine. But to “safely say nobody had heard of him” is plain wrong.

Re: Summer transfer window
He came on as a sub against us when we beat them 3-0 on the Turf in December 2022, part of a double substitution that saw Lukas Jutkiewicz also come on for Hannibal.
He is quite adapt at picking up cards too, there were 17 yellows in 2023/24 although some of those were playing for Wales.
Re: Summer transfer window
Still enough time for West Ham to sign CJ and Brownhill.

That is if you believe a totally unbiased West Ham website

Brentford agree Kelleher deal
Brentford have agreed an initial £12.5m deal with Liverpool for Caoimhin Kelleher.
Seems a very good bargain for Brentford
Even with potential add ons

Not impressed with him as a first team gk. Done OK, tbf, but not someone I'd be desperate to sign.
Seems too lightweight for me. Trafford will end up a much better keeper.

I'd rather have Pope or Heaton when they were with us than him. I don't think he's dreadful. I'm just not convinced by him.; 12m is a lot, I feel. But maybe not. Happy to be wrong.

Sorry if this sounds ridiculous but is it not implausible we're waiting for them to return from their holidays to sign and announce these deals?Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 01, 2025 8:37 amI thought perceived wisdom on here told us CJER and JB were signing new deals ?
That they've committed but it will be announced with videos/interviews shortly?

Re: Summer transfer window
Don't contracts end on 30th June? So they are both currently still under contract so we may not hear anything until next month.
Re: Summer transfer window
But at least Humphries Flemming and Anthony have contract with their clubs until June 30 th but we seem to have signed them until June 30th 2029
Re: Summer transfer window
At that price if we was to sell Trafford he would have been the ideal replacement, really good goalkeeper.
Re: Summer transfer window
I doubt Ramsdale will be going on loan anywhere, Southampton will need the money plus wouldn't be surprised if he had a relegation clause inserted into the contract he signed last year
Can see Leeds being interested in him
Re: Summer transfer window
I'll be honest, I really thought he was on loan at Southampton. I can't believe he signed for them permanently, it was pretty obvious they were going down before the season even started.
However, I don't think the idea is that far fetched anyway. He will still probably be the highest paid player in the Champ, they probably want him off the wage bill.
I can't see him staying, he's far to good for that division. It probably suits all parties for him to go, similar to when we needed to get rid of Pope.

Where we not linked with this lad at some
point?

I'd be more than happy with Targett/Pires and Bash as cover for LB.

The interviews with Anthony and Edwards were filmed in the week before the last game.

Re: Summer transfer window
Targett certainly isn’t a shock link. I mentioned him months ago as a potential left back target for us given his links to playing for Parker previously and not getting much game time in the PL. I think he’d be a solid enough signing should it happen - as long as his fitness is ok.

Re: Summer transfer window
Wouldnt be overly enamored with Targett. Despite his age he doesnt have anywhere near as much experience as he should for whatever reason.
Would be a bit 'meh' for me. But what do I know.

Targett would be a very good signing.
He hasn't been getting any game time due to having a few players ahead of him in the squad there.
Was really well liked when he 1st arrived.

Re: Summer transfer window
If a bit of speculation comes from " a STH at Stoke" or a " bloke I met who has a box at Leeds" does that then receive a higher cred rating than "a bloke sleeping in a doorway in Taunton"
Just asking as I'm unsure who to take seriously...

According to Wikipedia Stoke City have no senior players in any position whose first or last name start with an 'I'.louieollie wrote: ↑Mon Jun 02, 2025 2:41 pmIn no way shape or form am i ITK just relaying something a Stoke season ticket holder told me this morning that we are in for a right back of theirs who's name isl didn't quite catch but it starts with an I. Re: Summer transfer window
Targett is on 100k per week at Newcastle apparently. I can’t see it, although maybe he values game time over pay.
After a few years out I’d say it’s a bit of a risk but would bring a lot of experience. Not the most exciting of signings but maybe an astute one at the right price wages wise.
Good to see us linked to experience.

There is the odd rumour around Million Manhoef from Stoke - RB / RWB / RW.
Not inside info or anything, but half fits the bill if misheard.
