Re: Ryan Mason
Poisoned chalice. He would have been better staying as the can lad at Spurs. Still nice payoff awaits just before Christmas.

Re: Ryan Mason

Does that mean that a reset (ie Ange is on his way out) is likely with the rest going with him?Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 9:01 amPoisoned chalice. He would have been better staying as the can lad at Spurs. Still nice payoff awaits just before Christmas.

Re: Ryan Mason
I disagree. Great role for a young manager. A club that often overperforms (very similar club to us in many ways). Good fanbase and record at this level.
Interesting appointment. Wish him well. I quite like WBA .

It's a great job for someone who is ambitious and wanting to be a manager.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 9:01 amPoisoned chalice. He would have been better staying as the can lad at Spurs. Still nice payoff awaits just before Christmas.

Re: Ryan Mason
WBA is run by a board who are clueless. They sack more managers than serial sackers Watford They have a good if deluded fan base and are the Third team in the West Midland slightly ahead of Walsall but miles behind Wolves and Villa
Re: Ryan Mason
WBA are not just slightly ahead of Walsall. Bizarre thing to say.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 12:17 pmWBA is run by a board who are clueless. They sack more managers than serial sackers Watford They have a good if deluded fan base and are the Third team in the West Midland slightly ahead of Walsall but miles behind Wolves and Villa

Re: Ryan Mason
They do have a reasonably high tunrover of managers. And have shared at least a few with Watford. But its still a good job for a young coach starting out. Corberan has certainly done well from it.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 12:17 pmWBA is run by a board who are clueless. They sack more managers than serial sackers Watford They have a good if deluded fan base and are the Third team in the West Midland slightly ahead of Walsall but miles behind Wolves and Villa
Most clubs go through managers every few seasons now, for various reasons.
We have definitely been the anomaly with the tenure of our managers! In fact I can think of less than a handful we have sacked in the last 30+ years.
Laws, Dyche (crazy), Mullen (equally crazy) and possibly Cotterill. Cannot think of another?

Re: Ryan Mason
Brian Miller was sacked in January 1983 on the eve of the Milk Cup Quarter Final at Tottenham, his 46th birthday. Incredibly, we left White Hart Lane as 4-1 winners with Frank Casper in the dugout.CyrilEbokiPoh wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 2:17 pmThey do have a reasonably high tunrover of managers. Re: Ryan Mason
Feels similar to the dilemna Davis mk2 had post Coyle's move to Bolton. Would any new regime at Spurs keep him on, or did he need a landing spot?

Re: Ryan Mason
When WBA run away with the league like we did under VK I will concede I was wrong to diss their ability.Meanwhile in the real world I will expect a top 10 finish again.
