Not sure about Frank being better to stay put at Brentford. Lost Toney last year, looks like they’re about to lose Mbuemo to a team that finished five places below them. Tottenham massively underperformed in the league considering the players and budget they have.

The only manager I have known in this country that rarely looks the interviewer in the eye. Always looks at the ground, and very flippant in his responses-the UK press are going to miss him more than the fans
Odd bloke. Highly unlikeable and never takes the blame for defeat. Yes, they had a shedload of injuries but they were truly awful in the league.

They’ve been absolutely awful in the league this season, but he did win a trophy as he said he would and I still think he’s a good manager and a genuine bloke that lots of normal fans can relate to.

Europa league win means little to me, Frankfurt were the only decent team they had to face, the semis against Bodo and a final against this version of United were a gift. Would have been a travesty to not win it.

League season nothing short of a disgrace, if you paid £1000 a season to get spanked every week you’d think so too. Same tactic every week that doesn’t work then gaslights the fans in interviews and blames everyone else but himself. Absolutely no reason to bin off the league to the extent he did, that squad should have been capable of finishing top half and wining the Europa League still, he disrespected the fans and the league massively.

I’m really not surprised he’s gone. He became more and more bizarre as the season went on and some of their performances didn’t even reach inept at times.

And when you take on Levy then you usually lose.

Maybe they’ll go for another manager who’s taken the SPL by storm. That really really tough league to win! Rodgers I think he’s called.

I don’t even think he was being sarcastic when he said it had been a brilliant season after finishing 17th. Joke of a manager tbh. When they played Palace at home a few weeks ago they got properly ripped a new one by leaving Munoz in acres all game. Whining about injuries all season whilst setting up the fit players on the pitch in a ridiculous way.

Totally disrespectful behaviour by both him and the club to have a parade less than 2 days before the final league game. They still could have moved up places and showed no professional integrity to the main competition that you play in every season. All the other clubs that had parades had them after the league season had finished which is what any self respecting club would do.

I think he's probably taken Brentford as far as he can. He's done a brilliant job there.

Much higher ceiling at Spurs. I think it's a good move for him.

He did win a Euro trophy and therefore, Champions League football.

On the other hand, his plays are predictable to prem teams.

He won at poker and Spurs will benefit financially but if they'd lost it would have been a truly awful season.

Massive club though.

I don’t think it’s about how bad the three promoted teams were.
It’s the 2nd year on the bounce that the three promoted sides went back down, next season could well be the third. It is close to impossible to stay up without having a pot of money & breaking the rules.

The club had a say and the manager should be a part of those discussions. Actually you could argue that the club should be fined for that decision given that Brighton and the other clubs vying for Europe still had skin in the game on that last day. Palace and Liverpool showed respect to the competition by having a parade post season.

Rejuvenated an aging squad with young talent. Won a big European trophy and qualified for the Champs league whilst having unbelievably bad luck with injuries and losing one of the best strikers in the world as soon as he took over.
He's left one of the most attractive jobs in world football there for someone to kick on from.

They may not do but I reckon a manager with Parker's PL record will be much lower down Spurs' list than the bookies'.

Thomas Frank now long odds on with the major bookmakers (odds of 1/10 being quoted) so it looks as though it’s very close to being a done deal.

I’ve got more and more impressed with Thomas Frank during his time at Brentford. He was Dean Smith’s assistant and moved up when Smith went to Villa. What Brentford have done since is remarkable. He talks a lot of sense and comes over really well.

I have long thought that Burnley's only chance of survival this season is if the top clubs pick apart the likes of Brentford and/or Bournemouth. With no ill will to those clubs intended, I am glad to see that happening. It doesn't guarantee anything but you have no idea how they will react at such big losses (although, it's worth adding in, it's rather a moot point if Burnley themselves are going to lose Brownhill, CJ, Trafford etc).

Among the early front runners to replace Frank at Brentford is Justin Cochrane (currently assistant manager) so the club may be looking at continuity rather than making an appointment from outside the club.

This is definitely the key question and I personally think that the answer is no.

Although I would probably have gone for Frank if I were Spurs and if I were Frank I probably wouldn't be able to turn them down, I have a gut instinct that this is going to be one of those occasions when the manager would have been better staying where he is.

I think that he and Brentford are suited to each other in the way that they have been able to build and progress and just have a suspicion that this one might not finish well for Frank.

It would be unusual for a manager to leave and not take his coaching staff with him.

Reported in several places that Spurs will have to pay upwards of £10m to Brentford as compensation and that is without additional monies for coaching staff etc.

Spurs are a weird club

Trophy, guaranteed champions league and PL football next season after their squad suffers huge amounts of injuries and they sack the manager

The next manager will be on a hiding to nothing

Looks like he has taken most of his backroom staff as well.
A huge gamble / cost to Spurs , but he is obviously being backed.
I think this could be Levy's lucky ticket.
