A good sensible rule change, it’s just a shame they couldn’t change the rule regarding the run up or the approach to the ball.

Didn't they change that when they decided keepers could do what they want so long as they're on the line?

No mention of what happens if the penalty is missed?

A miss is a miss. The keeper or defenders didn't influence it either way.

At least they're keeping the rule changes trivial this year. No annual rewrite of offside or handball, by the sound of it.

I guess in that case the taker gained no advantage by touching the ball twice so the game goes on.

I wish the powers that be could just revert to the original rules

I'd like to see some of the existing rules applied - foul throws, 'keepers holding the ball too long.

Plus taking a free-kick and throw-in from the correct position.

Is the 'corner for goalkeeper timewasting' coming in?
