Not links but think could be good players on a low budget

Evan Ferguson (loan)

Thelo Aasgaard - Luton only 23
What has ferguson ever done to think he'd be a good option?

Ferguson showed promise as an 18yr old but then appeared to fade badly at WHU on loan getting very little if any time.Brighton are very good at developing players but also shrewd enough to let them leave if potential isn't reached.
Solly March looks a far better bet at Brighton.

Ferguson is massively overrated imo, did Jack at West Ham under Potter who is a big fan so for me that kind of poses a big red flag.

Not sure but Ferguson has not been right for a season and a half , look people have said an injury or growing pains goodness knows but he has lost pace for sure .
Careful what you wish for .

Tanganga from Millwall linked with us Leeds and Sunderland if not already mentioned, allegedly has a £1.2m release clause for clubs in the premier league, not sure on the accuracy of that, seems very low.

He’s a threat at set pieces, current squad doesn’t have one.
Unfortunately he was a goal threat at both ends!
He wanted away so much why would he come back ?

Scored more goals than foster has ever in a prem season
Same for Fleming
Same for amdouni
Same for obafemi
Probs a better option than Barnes too
That’s currently what we are going into the season with at this time

Cheap improvement to our current squad not saying we have to rely on him he’s young and has shown he can score goals in the right team and he’s scored a hat trick in the prem that’s what he’s done

To be fair to Ferguson, he played 8 times for a struggling West Ham side. He's 20 years old, so I don't think that loan spell confirms he's not up to it. Liam Delap was rubbished on here not long ago.

I get your point but 16 goal contributions in 60 apps at 20 years old is not to be sniffed at.

Genuinely not sure who else you’re expecting us to get with a better record tbh.

He’s gonna get a big money move but I can’t see why. 12 goals is barely ok in the PL.

Delap has already moved to Chelsea. And 12 goals playing for a relegated club at a young age is a good return..

We pay around 15million for zeki and he gets 5 goals and a loan move to champions league club

The option of a younger player with more experience in the league we will be playing in and more goals if available for a low price due to not being played at West Ham on loan is not a good shout then you may as well not be a supporter at this point  I’m not saying it’s even a option it’s just a forum

I doubt we could get him but 13 goals in 60 premier league games from the age of 17 to 20 is a foundation for a player to be able to succeed in the Premier league as he gets older and stronger

If the asking price for Gomez is £25m as is being indicated, that sounds a huge amount for a club like ours. Can't see many clubs being interested at that price-hes well down the pecking order at Liverpool. If so what is Esteve worth ??

Just because we have differing opinions doesn't mean one is a better supporter than the other which is what you said.

Sorry for taking offence but 65 years of following Burnley, to be told just because I don't fancy ferguson I'm not a supporter, is a bit rich even for this board.

Looks worth a punt

Ex Spurs
Japhet Tanganga has a £1.2m release clause that is exclusively available for Premier League clubs to trigger.
Tanganga made 40 appearances for Millwall in the second-tier during the 2024/2025 campaign, winning an outstanding 233 duels at a 62.1% success rate, and 37 tackles - which equated to 66.1%.
Won Millwall's Player of the Season award

He made 27 Premier League appearances for the North London club before departing as a free agent at the end of the 2023/2024 season. Played in Europe too.

We've got around 6 top cbs why do we need another. The striker from Millwall who scored at the Turf this season looks a decent bet though.

Because he’s a good player at a good age and the manager knows him and likes him. And at £1.2m it’s a bit of a steal. But apart from that I can’t think of a reason why we’d want him…

Ekdal and Delcroix will be leaving, Egan-Riley at the moment is OOC in a few weeks time, Beyer is going to need a loan to get back up to full fitness with the games he'll require.
We're left with Worrall and Esteve and Worrall isn't good enough.
It's s a no brainer a £1.2 million.

Right now no one knows if Esteve and CJ are staying, and if they will be here in September. Next, Beyer's injury has been immensely long term so the chances of playing regularly to PL standards must be low at best. We know Joe Worrall is a great team player, but from what we have seen we cannot deny his efforts but can he be dominant against today's PL crop of strikers. Delcroix is poor and needs to be moved on, and Ekdal may well want to move on having sampled European football for the past season. For me we are looking exposed and only Pace and Parker will know if we need to invest in someone like Tanganga who Scott will know-he seems to be a bargain at £1.2m

That pretty much sums up the situation, IMHO.
£1.2m release clause? I never really understand these, but isn't that just a minimum and unlikely to be the actual fee? Perhaps other clubs will also be interested as he's not a bad player.

Release clauses are usually a symptom of the power that a player has when signing for a club. When Tripps signed a contract renewal under Dyche he included one. Tends to happen when a player is pretty confident that he is going to move on to bigger things and the club accept the situation that it is better to have the player for however long they can rather than not have him at all.

The reason clubs tend not to increase the amount beyond the release clause - even if there are several clubs interested - is that the negotiations then become all about what they can pay the player in salary and signing on fees. And this goes back to why players and agents will put these clauses in if they can.

Haaland had one when coming to City - or he would have cost nearer to £200m than the £60m or so he did cost
