Good food pubs on the way to Huddersfield.
Good food pubs on the way to Huddersfield.
Off to watch Stereophonics at the John Smith’s on Saturday with the wife. Been to Huddersfield numerous times watching Burnley but only frequented the various pubs in the town centre, non of which really fit the criteria for providing decent food!
Any recommendations for a late dinner/early tea on the way (we will be driving) or in Huddersfield itself?
Cheers

Stayed overnight at a great pub the other week not far outside Huddersfield … The Rose and Crown at Thurstonland. It’s the wrong side of Huddersfield I suppose but a lovely place and the food was top notch so thought I’d recommend.

You would be better parking in brighouse and travelling into Huddersfield from there plus there's plenty of pubs and restaurants in brighouse

Reminds me of our pub stop on the way to Huddersfield in 2016 in Sowerby Bridge. It was superb with outstanding food. So we went back again the next time we played there and it had changed hands; it was diabolical. We always re-research now.

Just had to look back - not been back for over four and a half years and it does seem to change hands a lot. It's called The Navigation.

Re: Good food pubs on the way to Huddersfield.
En route: Hebden Bridge- you could choose the 'Stubbing Wharf' on the canal or 'The Old Gate' in the centre.
Just outside Udders: head to Lindley (easy access from J23&24)- the 'Lindley Tap' -3 miles to the ground.
Or
The 'Croppers Arms' in Marsh (on the main road into Udds from J23)
If you want any parking suggestions, give me a shout.

I went there the other day for the first time in about 20 years. Different to what I remembered it and certainly seemed to cater to a "Carling" crowd more than the home cooked food type pub it used to be.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jun 10, 2025 1:47 pmJust had to look back - not been back for over four and a half years and it does seem to change hands a lot. Seven and a half years since we last went in but that first visit in 2016 it was outstanding.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Tue Jun 10, 2025 7:44 pmI went there the other day for the first time in about 20 years. Eric's has been good for years, has a very good reputation with the locals.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 10, 2025 1:56 pmhttps://thescullerykitchenandbar.co.uk/

I've not been to the Scullery, but that is right next to where you should part for the gig. (Cambridge Road).
