Parker to Brentford?

Post by Milltown1882 » Wed Jun 11, 2025 5:33 pm

Hate posting this because I posted the initial VK to Bayern thread

Romano saying Parker is one of three on Brentford’s shortlist to replace Frank.

Yeah, I think he deserves this respect. Can't wait for him to set us up this season.

Brentford has the potential to be an absolute career destroyer for whoever takes over there. I doubt Parker would risk it.

Would expect Frank to try and take Wissa to Spurs with him too, would be a brilliant replacement for Son.

I think Brentford will push for a 'big' name. Part of the model is signing young quality with a good resale value. They will want a manager who can attract as such.

We've seen what a big risk that can be. Huge summer for Brentford. Get it wrong and they'll be back in the Champ pretty quickly

CJ going
Esteve going
Brownhill going
Trafford going

Wouldn’t blame him if all those happened.

As long as the club plays fair with him, Parker will not leave us the way you think.

He's going to need a hefty war-chest, let's hope he gets enough cash to make a fist of it in the PL.

If the season is as exciting as the next couple of months will be bill we are in for a treat.. So many unknowns you'd need a week to digest them all. I think the club will be fair with Scott

He's a London boy BUT Pace gave have him a chance when others didn't seem to want to and Parker comes across like that meant something to him. Can't see him going but if he does I wish him well, dignified bloke and he got the job done.

Blimey!! The way the stories on this thread are going....we are going to be in a worse state than we were after VK and the players exodus after relegation!

I don’t think he owes us anything. We gave him a job. He gave us promotion. At this point, I’d say we’re even.

I do hope he stays, but you could see the appeal of taking over at an established and very well run PL club.

How do lads,

Suspect this is a wind up on Fabrizio Romano either by the club or our message board, we’ve got form with the Italian hack, and no slight on his time with you, but given his previous with the Tarquins down the river from us, would be about as likely as Simon Garner turning up in the Dyche Arms for a pint!!

Other than that, delighted you’re back, a top local away day for me.

Look forward to you coming back on when we know the fixture dates. Seems a big blow Frank leaving and if Burnley fans are completely honest when we look fervently for sides that might bomb next season to keep us up , your team is one of them with the Frank and Mbeuno news

Don’t blame you at all, I’d/we’d be the same.

Not particularly worried about Mbuemo going, suspect the club are as keen on the move as the player, he’s at peak value and it’s what we do…consistently, Maupay, Watkins, Benrahama, Toney. And if record signing Thiago stays fit that’ll be the goal replacement I’d hope.

Similarly Franks departure would have been priced in for some time I would have thought, maybe not a wholesale departure of back room staff with him which has been rumoured and his disconcerting, change after 7 years is scary but provided successor appointment a good one no reason why it can’t be a positive.

Probably worth pointing out that barely a promotion goes by without the manager who was integral to it being linked with a move away.

People said this last August. Parker will think bigger picture than this.

Steve would be a big miss. But the money would be huge. Trafford similar. But I feel he would be easier to replace in the short term.

The other two on frees are disappointing. But neither have played at or in brownhills case proven themselves at this level.

So he will look at the much bigger picture.

Brownhills position and goals could be replaced by Ramsey who is much younger and a higher ceiling. And / or Fleming.

With the prem money. Players returning. Trafford and potentially Steve money. And lack of pressure, Parker will be unlikely to leave.

And if he does, we have a proven record of over 30 years attracting good manager.

A lot of fans would have ‘drove him to Brentford ’ as recently as January. Non story.

The odds against Parker being appointed Brentford manager are currently around 33/1.
I posted on here several days ago that the odds on favourite is currently Justin Cochrane, the assistant manager, with Kieran McKenna also said to be in the running.

Please be the assistant manager. How often does this fail.

I like Brentford. But I’d happily see them go down at our expense.

Seem to remember Burnley not being among his favourite clubs after he got dogs abuse reporting every wild rumour that he saw about us a couple of years ago. I know there was quite a “blocked by” Romano list on Twitter as he was outed as a complete hack for just repeating any rumour he came across.

I like Brentford a lot, but they are a smaller club than Burnley, with a smaller fan base, and less potential. Harsh but the 150 year record proves it.

Frank was manager 7 years. He was assistant before that. It is reasonable to guess that when he leaves it could all fall apart. This money-ball thing is overrated, all clubs try that nowadays. It is hardly Bloom at Brighton who is an ex elite poker player so has some kind of world class judgement. It is down to Frank, not money-ball. Post-messiah syndrome will set in.

So, no, I wish Brentford all the best, but Scott would be bonkers to go there.

He's got almost the same background as Bloom. He worked with (or possibly for) him at one point and they had a falling out. He's got a degree in physics from Oxford and pretty much his whole career has been statistical modelling and the like.

You are on about the Brentford owner?

Yes I recall that falling out where one guy refuses to sit in the director’s box. But Bloom has that StarLizard company and is probably a cut above (though that is opinion). When we get to the level of all the other owners, I am sure they will all claim they have talent, e.g. our guys with Wall Street and sports management experience.

Statistical modelling is the basis of my own business and my sense is, when Frank leaves, Brentford are badly weakened, a shame, because they are a small club like us, but we have to take advantage.

As you say the money-ball aspect is a bit overrated, although I don't think Bloom has had any world class judgement at Brighton, just a vast amount of wealth that's been put into the club and sustain them when they were making losses.

To a lesser extent I think that's the case at Brentford and Bournemouth as these clubs have been able to do something we haven't in recent times which is cover any shortfalls.

They've made some very good signings without doubt, but they've been able to do it knowing that any players who don't succeed can be written off without making too much dent in their finances.

Unfortunately for us, one or two expensive bad signings can make things extremely difficult.

Re: Parker to Brentford?

Parker comes across to me in terms of football managers and that standard as loyal but is ambitious... I only see him going if he's sacked or a genuine offer comes from a team that is a complete other level in terms of their ceiling.

Thomas Frank has made it clear Brentford are restricted like us .... so although they are more attractive right now... I don't envy the next manager their as it's going to be almost impossible to better what Frank has achieved.

Parkers not stupid and wont want another situation where the fans will turn on him quick

Is there such thing as an established premier League club?...especially when it comes to clubs like ours and Brentford. One season away from relegation as we have found out over recent years
Well true, but Brentford’s odds of still being in the Premier League in 12 months time will be significantly longer than ours. It’s not an exaggeration for me to suggest that their squad is better than ours and their infrastructure will be more equipped at this time to prepare for a PL season. Being in London is an advantage too - as evidenced by the disproportionate number of London clubs in the PL (over 1/3 of the league).

Of course that could change quickly for them, but it might be appealing for Parker if approached.

This is the way. There is much talk about how the PL is a closed shop now but it's all built on a house of cards. When we smacked Bournemouth a couple of years ago as a champ team they weren't far away from being relegated but they made some smart signings and are flavour of the month again. They've now lost two of their defence, and are staring down the barrel of losing more of their squad, and if they squander the money or replace poorly theyll be right back in it.

There was a big 4, a big 6 and now there's a big 7 or 8. If you are not one of those teams then your long term place in the Premier League is vulnerable to a series of bad decisions and nobody gets it right 100% of the time.

2 of the Big 6 (8) finished 15th and 17th last season, so I would say the number of 'safe' teams is probably smaller than 'we think'.
Having said that, it can only be proven when there is a shock relegation, although as a season progresses it will be less of a shock.
At the moment Everton or West Ham would not be seen as a shock. Take out The Big 8 and there wouldn't be another club seen as a shock

For us, 17th or better, although achievable, will still be a massive achievement, but if achieved, could be a start of a sustained run at the top.

Nathan Collins is never coming back here. He is destined for a top 6 side or Spurs.

Where Spurs and Man U. finished last season felt as though both teams had put all their eggs in the Europa League basket, knowing they were never really in any danger.

Both sides were always capable of getting a result, as and when required, to keep them at arms length from the relegation places.

The odds against Parker being appointed Brentford manager are currently around 33/1.
I posted on here several days ago that the odds on favourite is currently Justin Cochrane, the assistant manager, with Kieran McKenna also said to be in the running.
Cochrane is currently the stumbling block on the move. Spurs want him to join Frank with them but Brentford want him to be their new head coach.

Just a quick question, but has anybody asked the Fulham and Bournemouth fans what they think of this move?

Thanks Richard Whiteley. Although I can only assume you missed the inverted commas! 8-)
