He can certainly take a corner, goodness me.most of his assists are dead balls.

Didn't think he was released, I thought they offered him a new deal and the rumours were he is off to SaudiNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 10:07 pmnoticed Doucoure has been released by Everton.

They offered him reduced terms, the same as other players.
They are all looking round for better contracts.

Doucoure would be an absolute dream signing. Exactly what we need. Not happening though. Think he was on £130k per week at Everton.

Re: Summer transfer window
Wouldn’t say its 100% a no goer.
5m signing on fee. 60-70k wages.
Gets him roughly to that figure if he’s offered a two year contract.

Not a chance he accepts wages of 60-70k and if he did he would have signed at Everton

Re: Summer transfer window
Whatever he wants there will be over 15 clubs in the PL that would not think twice about offering him the signing on fee and a 6 figure weekly salary thats been mentioned in this post. This is not the pond to be fishing in for Burnley FC
Re: Summer transfer window
Are we talking about Doucoure here? He's rubbish these days. If Doucoure is rubbish by your opinion , then there must be some PROPER rubbish players in the PL. Lets see who he goes too-that will be some measurement of his true abilities

Probably been said but reports saying Newcastle have gone off trafford due to the price tag and are looking elsewhere

You still get the feeling that a deal will eventually be done for Trafford but it’s encouraging that we’re placing high price tags on players, standing our ground and not being bullied.

Re: Summer transfer window
Could be a genuine effort to move onto other targets, or the cynical side of me thinks they’re playing hardball to get Trafford to force the sale. They will have been in contact with his camp, and going off his recent interview, I think he would be giving them encouragement. Either way it just needs putting to bed one way or another. As miraculous as last season was, we cannot afford to start this season with big players departing and big holes to fill.

Re: Summer transfer window
Jack Rudoni would be an ideal replacement for Josh Brownhill if he is actually leaving .Rudoni is a skilful cm who has height advantage for set pieces.
Re: Summer transfer window
That Seginho looks some player you know, for the reported price I would be all over it.

Reminds me of Ronaldo when he first arrived at utd, just not as tall, but clearly talented and bags of potential.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 14, 2025 10:50 amThat Seginho looks some player you know, for the reported price I would be all over it.

Re: Summer transfer window
Reminds me of the YouTube clips I watched of Houtondji before we signed him last year. On a social media platform where people can put together a 4 minute highlight reel which makes anybody look like a world beater….I'm left underwhelmed. And this lad is playing at a very low level as well.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 14, 2025 10:50 amThat Seginho looks some player you know, for the reported price I would be all over it.

Re: Summer transfer window
Suspect we will let Benson leave this summer so we are likely to need 1/2 wingers minimum, 1 of which may not expect to start all of the time given we have Koleosho, Anthony, Edwards all on the books.
Providing Tresor and Churlinov both leave which I think they will.

It’s a really poor level
Re: Summer transfer window
Appreciate the levels not the best but what's impressive is just how easy he is making it look. There's looking good at a level and making a level look easy, this guy falls into the latter.
Re: Summer transfer window
Nixon:
Interested in a return for Harwood Bellis either as a buy or loan with a view to buy.
Ipswich sniffing around Brownhill and the reason why Egan Riley didn’t sign was we refused to pay a huge agent fee.

Re: Summer transfer window
Wouldn’t really be in favour of a THB return myself, not convinced he’s Premier League quality.
If that’s the reason CJER didn’t join - good. Well done to the club.

Re: Summer transfer window
Harwood-Bellis has just spent a season getting absolutely battered week in week out, and was a key part of that defence. I don’t particularly rate him as a defender for a battling club in the PL. Would be a weird move for Brownhill at this stage of his career. Egan-Riley’s agent is him Mum, so others have said, which is weird.

Re: Summer transfer window
Wasn't CJERs Mum his agent?
Re: Summer transfer window
I'd have Harwood-Bellis here, but I imagine he'd be too expensive. Just because Southampton had a difficult season doesn't mean he wouldn’t be good enough for us. We know what it's like having a challenging season but having players that we still want in our squad. He's been linked to West Ham.

Re: Summer transfer window
VK had an eye for a decent defender and decided THB wasn't good enough for the Premier league. Taylor needs to go to France if the chat about Ligue1 being halfway between Championship and Premier league is to be believed.Either way he's not what we need
Re: Summer transfer window
Hard to disagree but at the same time, from a purely practical standpoint, it will cost 10+ times that figure to replace CJER and we lost his value as a sellable asset in the future at the same time.
Say his agent wanted £1million, yeah that's a lot. But how much will it cost to replace him? THB being touted as a replacement is going to cost around 20 times that in fee alone, then you have whatever cut his agent wants and likely a higher wage than we'd have been paying CJER.
Hopefully a lesson has been learned regarding letting younger players get into the last year of their contract.
Re: Summer transfer window
There’s having a challenging season and there’s having a 12 point, 2nd worst of all time season, in fairness. Not the profile of centre back I was hoping we’d be in for, not dominant in the air or physically.taio wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 8:26 amI'd have Harwood-Bellis here, but I imagine he'd be too expensive. Re: Summer transfer window
Do you think we should extend the contracts of players who have hardly kicked a ball for the club in the first 3 years of their contract….just in case they come good all of a sudden.
He played for the equivalent of a bottom end championship team in Hibs and a Dutch B team. And when he was at burnley for the most part he failed to make a 9 man bench.
Nobody predicted the season he was going to have last year. If he would have been offered an extended contract before last season fans would have questioned on what basis

Re: Summer transfer window
We probably aren't going to be able to find a player who is dominant aerially and physically who also replaces the distribution we've lost with CJ leaving. A player with all 3 is not likely to be realistically affordable or achievable for us.
We've either got to decide what is more important and focus on that or create it "in the aggregate" (as the famous Moneyball quote goes). If we're looking at THB to play in a back 4 then that would suggest we're prioritising the distribution and hoping that playing in a more protective setup will bring a better defender out of THB. Alternatively we could be looking at switching to a back 5 and bringing in the more physically dominant (but technically limited) centre back as well as THB thus covering off both. We'll have to see if others are mentioned.
Re: Summer transfer window
Same VK who played the likes of O'Shea, Al Dakhil and Delcroix?Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 8:28 amVK had an eye for a decent defender and decided THB wasn't good enough for the Premier league. It wasn't straightforward, but I'm sure the club will have learned from Egan-Riley's contractual situation.Mattster wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 8:30 amHard to disagree but at the same time, from a purely practical standpoint, it will cost 10+ times that figure to replace CJER and we lost his value as a sellable asset in the future at the same time.

Re: Summer transfer window
I assume he had been watched on loan by the club and seen in training, that ability didn't just manifest overnight. I also doubt anyone would have been up in arms over a contract extension on the basis Parker coming in and assessing his squad. It's also just common sense to protect the value of younger assets and his demands would have been a lot smaller at that point.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 8:41 amDo you think we should extend the contracts of players who have hardly kicked a ball for the club in the first 3 years of their contract….just in case they come good all of a sudden.

Re: Summer transfer window
Of course he will have been watched whilst on loan and I assume they still thought he was not good enough or else they would have offered him an extended contract - like they did so many other players. By the time Parker arrived it’s too late - he’s already in his last year.Mattster wrote: ↑Sun Jun 15, 2025 8:48 amI assume he had been watched on loan by the club and seen in training, that ability didn't just manifest overnight. It’s only common sense now because you have the benefit of hindsight. Presumably you will be able to provide a link of where you were recommending the club extend his contract ?
