According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Brentford have drawn up a three-man shortlist to replace Frank, including Parker.
He is reportedly happy at Turf Moor, but the opportunity to join a bigger club could be tempting.

Re: Parker to Brentford?
I swear that's what the article said, I copied and pasted it, but it's changed now.

Re: Parker to Brentford?
Theres some snobbery about Brentford on this thread that's a little distasteful for my liking. We have a rich history as a club. But over the last decade. Brentford are a more successful club than us and in terms of managers or players, they could easily attract ours if they wanted.
Re: Parker to Brentford?
Whole of the article:
Brentford are reportedly considering appointing Scott Parker as their new manager.
The Bees are set to lose Thomas Frank to Tottenham Hotspur. He has agreed to join the Lilywhites.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Brentford have drawn up a three-man shortlist to replace Frank, including Parker.
He is reportedly happy at Turf Moor, but the opportunity to join a bigger club could be tempting.
Parker replaced Vincent Kompany last summer and guided them to promotion, finishing behind eventual winners Leeds United with 100 points.
However, Brentford supporters are unlikely to be happy if the club appoint him as Frank’s replacement.
He previously made over 120 appearances and managed 105 games for rivals Fulham.
The Cottagers also won the 2019-20 Championship play-off final under Parker by defeating the Bees 2-1.
Parker failed to keep them in the top tier the following season and eventually left the club by mutual consent in June 2021.
Parker performed the same feat in his next job at Bournemouth, sealing Premier League promotion by leading them to a second-place finish.
He was sacked after losing three of their opening four matches, including a 9-0 humiliation at Liverpool.

Brentford are not more successful than us in the last decade or the last history. Have they played in Europe this decade? I must have missed that. They last played in the top flight in 1947 before 2021. They have a tin pot history.

Maybe decade was stretching it, but over the past 5 years they have overtaken us in terms of wealth, playing staff, league position, transfer business. Right now they are a much better proposition than us on every front, despite how good our history is.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 5:27 pmBrentford are not more successful than us in the last decade or the last history. Not that long ago Leicester won the league, F.A.Cup, Charity Shield & played in the Champions League.
Things can go wrong very quickly in football.

Or alternatively they are doing what we did under Dyche minus European qualification. We’ll see what happens when they lose their manager and best players this summer.

Do you think right now we are at the same level as Brentford? I honestly think we are a way behind.
Do you think we're a safer bet to survive than Brentford next season? I would like some of your positivity if so.

Re: Parker to Brentford?
They’ve done fantastically well and with a very good manager and some very good signings. I think it could be a tough season for them as we found you can only do it for so long. I actually don’t think we are that far behind and prior to the past few seasons they have bounced around league 1 and the championship.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 6:31 pmThere is no alternative. Cautiously optimistic about next season down to the fact Parker will make us difficult to break down unlike Kompany’s philosophy!

Re: Parker to Brentford?
Just had a glance at Oddschecker and Parker is priced up at 14/1, Ange at 10/1 and Chris Wilder at 8/1!
I’ll start giving this supposed short list some credibility when I see Parker priced at 3/1 or lower.

Right now Brentford are an established PL side.
We were one 5 years ago. They've overtaken us. Yes things change in football, but right now I don't know how anyone could argue otherwise.

The four best players from last season going ?
Having to replace them with similar, plus minimum of better quality in CM and Striker than we currently have is a hard ask for anyone
SP did it last year but this is, as they say, a different league
Just hope he feels up to the task if he gets other offers for work

Re: Parker to Brentford?
From Sky Sports
Latest from Sky Sports News' Lyall Thomas:
Scott Parker is not currently in the running to become the new Brentford head coach.
Thomas Frank is set to be announced as Tottenham's new boss, with Justin Cochrane being part of his backroom staff.
Parker, who led Burnley to promotion from the Championship, had been linked with the Brentford role, but the club have not reached that point yet as they have been dealing with Frank and his staff's exit.
There is a long list of people they like that will now be made into a shortlist and worked through.

It’s possible that Parker fancies a bigger contract getting your agent to link you with other jobs is a well worn path to achieving that.

Re: Parker to Brentford?
It's rinse & repeat with kompany when he was linked everywhere & I said he'd give the top flight a stab first & then go I think parker will do the same. Managers are reluctant to go upon promotion it's important to them to finish the job ahead even if it's only for a season. Kompany was lucky he's a bigger name & he stopped with all the alledged offers & SP will. He's supposed to be happy & there's no reason to believe he isn't at least for this season after that's finished we might be ordering a Uber to Brentford.

Re: Parker to Brentford?
hard work being a fan at times, you settle in for a bit with a great new manager and all feels great, along comes success, and the rumour mill cranks up to add a bit of pessimism.
not just our club I realise, but we have had it happen in recent seasons.
In this instance I get that SP is not leaving, but it would be great to look forward to a lengthy period of building, strengthening and stability, instead of supporters having to say
"well he leaves with our blessing " every time someone achieves something.

Re: Parker to Brentford?
The sad reality is the nature of this works both ways. Look at Dyche. Job for life. But his stock soon fell and fans and ultimately the club wanted shut when things had gone stale. He had opportunities proper to that when his reputation was highest to go to Sunderland or palace - perhaps others.Wile E Coyote wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 10:35 pmhard work being a fan at times, you settle in for a bit with a great new manager and all feels great, along comes success, and the rumour mill cranks up to add a bit of pessimism.

Parker is well regarded here. But a bad season and he could be back to the perception he had from many before he joined us. And even up until January and beyond with many!

Re: Parker to Brentford?
Brentford are ahead of us at the moment - no doubt about it.
But they are a small club like Bournemouth, Fulham etc and eventually they will have a slow start one season (much like we did) and find that they give themselves too much to do to recover. Eventually these smaller clubs (ourselves obviously included) find their level and end up being over-powered by the bigger clubs. Call it natural selection if you want.
It’s why our PL status under Dyche was so remarkable. To battle against the odds for so long was an incredible achievement and finishing 7th and getting into Europe was quite frankly ludicrous. Enjoy the good times because they don’t last long!

Thomas Frank was also an internal appointment by Brentford where he was the assistant head coach before succeeding Dean Smith as manager. It worked for Brentford previously and no compensation to be paid out.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 13, 2025 12:24 pmGranted Brentford know far more about him than I ever will but that looks a long way from the calibre of Frank

Re: Parker to Brentford?
Brentford bigger than Burnley has to be as ludicrous as Bradford City claiming they are.
Re: Parker to Brentford?
I ******* hate Bradford City, but in all fairness, despite living in a BD postcode, not one of their fans has ever suggested to me that they’re bigger than Burnley. They probably should be, but their history is pathetic for one of the bigger cities in the country.
They weren’t even the biggest club in Bradford until BPA went tits up!
For a ‘little club’ we’ve punched well above our weight and we should all be bloody proud of that.
I’ve baited my line with that one for Dande Claret!!

Re: Parker to Brentford?
I came across some stuff online regarding Bfd Sh1tty's claim. I too live in a BD postcode; well, used to live, I should say, as I haven't done for over 40 years. I agree that Avenue were the bigger club until the end of the '50s. BPA are my non-league club.DCWat wrote: ↑Sat Jun 14, 2025 3:06 amI ******* hate Bradford City, but in all fairness, despite living in a BD postcode, not one of their fans has ever suggested to me that they’re bigger than Burnley. Keith Andrews has all the attributes to become a success. He's always played at a low level standard and had to graft to even make the teamsheet. He seems to have a good grasp of tactics as shown on his tv appearances .Brentford have a tremendous scouting and recruitment network that's where we lag behind them .

From Sky
Keith Andrews is one of the main candidates for the Brentford job.
Andrews has been part of Thomas Frank’s coaching staff since last year and is well-regarded within the club.
Brentford promoted from within last time, with Frank having been Dean Smith's assistant.
Andrews is one of a handful of names Brentford are seriously considering - but a final decision has not yet been made.
Andrews is known for being Brentford's set-piece specialist, but his coaching ability extends far beyond just that.
Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna is among a number of other coaches admired at Brentford.
Scott Parker is not under consideration, contrary to reports elsewhere.
