I shut down my long standing account on Twitter when I realised Musk was buying the election for our racist, felony ridden "friend" in the elections.

But, as agreenwood says, it is the best site for football news and general news if used correctly. I have set up a new account just two days ago but I will be very selective of who I follow and interact with. I will avoid the "for you" section with a passion as the right wing peddling is clearly still there and will utilise it in the best way which suits.

I follow UTC on bluesky, but there’s no account from Burnley official. Bluesky had a healthy spurt after the US election, but it sadly seems to have petered out.
The club did have an account, didn't appear to use it and it looks as though it's now been deleted.

Do we know if there is some sort of shirt sponsor involved here or is that just pure speculation?

Complete speculation of course.

It seems pretty unlikely that the club will be directly getting a material amount of money out of this in any way.

X is great.
I can see why some people dont like it though.
The child like desire for people to reinforce your own truths is much better serviced on bluesky

The biggest child is the owner. Take a look at his latest hissy fit. There was only going to be one winner there, and it sure wasn't going to be Musk. Soon backed down when faced with reality. Money isn't everything when you are up against the leader of the main superpower.

Imagine being concerned about the richest man in the world potentially having his social media platform logo advertised on our shirts.

Might not be bigger but we should be better than ‘partnering’ with **** like that.
Best get the list of acceptable partnerships to Alan quick before he makes a fool of himself again. Maybe one of the Supporters boards can arrange an intervention. Pretty clear there is universal fan agreement on what we want the club to represent and what we want to cancel. Maybe not..

Genuinely don't know about clubs like Liverpool or FGR who appear from the outside like everyone is aligned in politics and opinion on big issues, but that's not Burnley and never will be- which in itself might be good enough reason to stay away from X! (he says contradicting my original assessment).

It’s not a great look is it, especially for a club with previous for having fans with ‘questionable’ views.

Twitter doesn’t have the cultural relevance it once had, the kids don’t use it, and it has links to the worst parts of society. Not sure why we’ve done this.

Out of interest, what do you mean by worst parts of society?

I assume you mean murders, drug gangs, rapists, terror groups, etc?

At any given moment there is an orthodoxy, a body of ideas which it is assumed that all right-thinking people will accept without question. It is not exactly forbidden to say this, that or the other, but it is ʻnot doneʼ to say it, just as in the height of the trans rights movement it was ʻnot rightʼ to say 'only women have a cervix'. Anyone who challenges the prevailing orthodoxy finds himself silenced with surprising effectiveness. A genuinely unfashionable opinion is almost never given a fair hearing, either in the popular press or in the highbrow periodicals.

Twitter/X, and any other social media platform brave enough, to nurture a true platform of free speech can give these debates the fair hearing they deseve.

Let the light shine in.

Elon Musk confessed in seperate posts (deleted presumably after he came down off his drugs) last week that he'd bought the US election and that Donald Trump is a paedophile so it seems fair to put him in the worst parts of society.

People know or have seen more of Musk than for example, an owner of a foreign betting firm . There are undoubtedly dodgy ethics and/or people etc involved in these businesses, let alone the damage it can cause to people’s lives.

Let’s be honest, Musk will have nothing to do with Burnley, it’s a job taken on by someone who works for him in ‘X’. Likely to just be content creation and not to be a direct financial investment in the club.

Even if I’m wrong about this, then what’s the difference between the two? You may know about one (or think you do), but nothing about the other, the club can’t do right for doing wrong at times, let’s see what happens but I think folk need to calm down.

Can’t be having bookies as a sponsor because it’s morally wrong. Can’t be having X as a sponsor because of Musk etc.

Just what is an acceptable sponsor to some people? We are a Premier League club. The days of having P3 computers, Lanway, Endsleigh as sponsors are over.

The clash between ethics and cold hard cash is hardly a new one, but I'd be disappointed if the club went down this road.

Clearly some people would love to have X as a sponsor as it fits with their 'sticking it to the libs' agenda. While there is always a criticism that could be found in any potential sponsor, I'm sure there are plenty of options out there that aren't so widely viewed as being morally objectionable as X.

Personally I wouldn't buy a shirt if X was the sponsor, but I guess everyone has their own line and I'm sure some would happily wander around with Pornhub emblazened across their chests if it meant we could afford to give a player a 10% payrise.

It's George Orwell. A man who despised the nationalistic, far-right politics of the fascists so much he actually signed up to fight and kill them in Spain.

Correct. Eric Blair who despised Facism so much he signed up to fight against it.

When he was there in Spain he learnt that the 'opposite' of Facism, Communism, was just as bad. And then he spent the rest of his life fighting extremism, on the 'Left' or the 'Right', with his pen.

There is plenty we can learn from his example but his main legacy will be his expose of the flaws, contradictions and hypocries of Communism and those "useful idiots" who spread its ideology in the West.

It would be a lot better than gambling companies but one does wonder if it is suitable for X to be on kids shirts now that the dangers of social media to children and teenagers are becoming more widespread to more people (though some still refuse to acknowledge it). I’d view it the same as the gambling firms and go for a DudePerfect kids version.

On the wider point I do find X increasingly annoying, particular how it plays a random video straight after my video finishes (a random one that is often totally unrelated and semi-pornographic). And the thousands of obvious bots originating from dodgy foreign states but pretending to be from here are a problem. But I find BlueSky an echo chamber and have chosen not to touch it.
Of course Blue-sky is a left wing echochamber. They've thrown their toys out of the pram and stormed off in a huff to form their own backslapping site where each one of them can reinforce the others opinion and convince each other they are indeed totally righteous.
Twitter needed cleaning out and rebalancing. It's certainly moved to the right (inevitable when the loony left lot left..try saying that after a few pints) but not as far to the right as it was to the left previously.
It has many new annoying issues though and is plagued by bots and Musk certainly divides opinion.
The sad thing out of it all is that we now have alternative social media depending on ones politics. To me that isn't healthy.

Has he a X rated team we can loan players to or from.
Is Musk looking to father children here and boost our attendance?
