Summer transfer window
Re: Summer transfer window
Would definitely like Keane. 260 PL appearances. Set piece threat. Rumoured to be on 80k a week though, so not sure what we can do there.
THB at £20m is just a huge no though, from me. Charlie Cresswell from Toulouse would be more suited to what we need (aerially dominant, box defender and set piece threat) at half the price. He had a really strong season in Ligue One and is ahead of CJ in the Eng 21s pecking order.
Hartman looks like a decent option. Was linked with Chelsea before his injury. Was fit last season but in and out the team. Seems like one of those that can go under the radar, raise our ceiling, but hope fitness issues are behind them (eg Barkley at Luton).

Re: Summer transfer window
From Kompany's Championship busting side there's several I'd have back in a heartbeat, like Tella and Mastsen for example (obviously totally unaffordable of course!) but THB no. He's looked out of his depth with Saints in the PL and whilst acknowledging he wasn't the only one in that side and maybe he'd be better with better quality around him, it's far too much of a risk when our spending power is limited (imo). Stay away.

Re: Summer transfer window
Certainly looks an interesting profile. His record is impressive, young, big, developing in a league well known for producing players. Will keep an eye out for him!ecc wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 1:08 pmThis is NOT a rumour.
I know there are some posters who wouldn't like to see us sign another player from Belgium which I understand.
However, it remains a league which serves as a platform for young foreigners coming from "smaller" countries or rather less rated countries.
There is a young Croatian centre-forward playing for Union Saint-Gilloise by the name of Franjo Ivanović. In his first season in Belgium he scored 16 goals in 34 matches (standard league plus play-offs).
Union Saint-Gilloise paid Rijeka, his club in Croatia, €4m last summer.
He's now part of the Croatia national team squad - which inevitably adds value - and is being linked with a number of clubs notably Rennes. Fee being quoted is €15m.
He's fast and strong from what I've seen.
Of course, it's a huge leap to the PL but I just feel he's the sort of target which might be feasible (FWIW).

Cresswell is a good shout. Would we need both him and Keane though? We'd have no player with good progressive distribution, if we were using a back 3 of Esteve, Keane and Cresswell. THB plus one of Keane/Cresswell would be the best balance IMO (or Sinaly Diomande if we were looking for a cheaper option to THB).RVclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 1:21 pmWould definitely like Keane. 260 PL appearances. The issue is when he’s on £40-50k a week in the Champ if we went down (presuming a 40-50% wage cut). It’s why we have to be careful and signing experienced PL players isn’t as straightforward as it sounds.CyrilEbokiPoh wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 2:27 pm£80k a week over 3 years - less than £3m! Think I misread the French report, having re-read it now, it states an offer above €10m (£8.5m) would definitely be needed. So it doesn’t say a price he’d be available, though we can speculate it won’t be too much higher, given signings from that league, age, experience etc.
Yeah fair points. We’d score a few from set pieces though. Looked into Diomande after you suggested him and he looks a good profile - only issue is he’d be missing for a few games around AFCON I’d imagine? We’ve seen the disruption that’s caused us before with Cornet. But might have enough cover.Mattster wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 2:30 pm

But without a transfer fee, he would work out much better than some other options. Potentially even CJER.

Liam Tchaouna, from Lazio. That says right back but his wiki page says forward.

Liam Tchaouna’s one step away from Burnley Football Club!

Sacha seems fairly confident, but has got his picture wrong, name wrong and position wrong.

Re: Summer transfer window
He's a forward, does this mean your expecting a foreign right back through the door soon?
Re: Summer transfer window
Cresswell has had a good season at Toulouse. I saw him play at Auxerre where he scored a goal.Mattster wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 2:30 pmCresswell is a good shout. He plays in the middle of a back three. He's solid and organised the defence well. A stopper but one who reads the game well. However, he's not the fastest. If he were to play alongside Maxime that could potentially work but otherwise I'm not sure how he'd cope with fast attackers.
Re: Summer transfer window
A few places have Tchaouna down as right wing.
He plays for France U21's who are playing tomorrow so maybe we get to see which position he plays in.

14m it says in that article. Seems a lot.
Watched the highlights reel and from minimal viewing he looks strong, protects and carrys the ball well with a strong shot. Similar to Cornet but younger and maybe not as explosive.

How random that we get linked with a Lazio striker, agree to play them in a friendly and then sign a winger from them all in the space of 24 hours.

Would tend to agree. Maybe his best position might be left back or left wing back due to what looks like powerful running and a strong left foot. It’s now being reported in loads of different and reliable places now….so I guess we might find out.Conroy92 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 6:50 pm14m it says in that article. Seems a lot.

Is this you again trying to claim I’ve got another profile, when CT has confirmed I don’t in the past.
Every time I post you seem to come for me, you have a strange problem with me
Re: Summer transfer window
Ive been having a snoop around the Feyenoord forum as I like to do with any club where we hold an interest in a player.
Hartmann is a player I wished we'd signed when we last got linked to him. IIRC they were quoting something like 20-25m for his services which put us off.
The Feyenoord fans believe they have an embarrassment of riches at LB, with 3 players there that they believe are amongst the best in the Netherlands so whilst they're annoyed at a long term employee (15 years) running down his contract they think they'll be alright (Worth pointing out that one of them is Hugo Bueno who wasn't anything special at Wolves)
They think Pre-Long Term Injury, Hartmann was the best LB of all, a champions league class player, but that he's struggled since coming back. They lament this and hope that he could recover his best form with them, but if he carries on as is it's not the end of the world. They believe Bournemouth fancy him too.
I hope it's a link that stems from us tracking him over an extended period of time rather than a rehashing of an old link. Sounds like he could be a real asset if he can rediscover himself.

Re: Summer transfer window
Fingers crossed that leaves us in pole position?

Re: Summer transfer window
Tchaouna is definitely a winger, left footed (but not bad with his right) and can play either wing or as a striker. Currently with France U21s, he's come off the bench in both of their matches at the U21 Euros.
We were linked with him in January when he apparently favoured PSV but Lazio decided to keep him. PSV still interested but seems we're now the favourites.
Can't say I know him very well but from videos and data looks very exciting, very raw and hard working/not afraid to get stuck in.

Hopefully a sign of the type of player we’re scouting this window.

Cresswell would be a no for me. I think hes cumbersome and makes some poor decisions. THB is better than him.Mattster wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 2:30 pmCresswell is a good shout. I haven’t seen him play in France this year, but his loan at Millwall and the first u21 game the other night he was poor when the ball got played into the channels. Got ran and turned a number of times and alos backed off for the Czech goal to allow the cross in. He would get crucified in the the prem in my opinion.

That's Lazio, not Luton fans who aren't impressed.
Played 11 games in their Europa Quarter Finals campaign losing on pens.
Good solid signing with pedigree in the Odobert mould.
