It’s probably in his best interests career wise.

He gets to walk away saying it was an unfair sacking and that he achieved a huge points tally last season which would usually result in automatic promotion.

Had he been sacked next season if they’d made a poor start, it would have looked worse for him.

And taking longer - still no news from Sheffield United. The only info I can find is on Sky who say he will be sacked this week.

Dead man walking after his shenanigans.

Even if they had gone up he would have been sacked.

Not football related, his lack of class shines through and the American owners won't want a loose cannon affecting their investment.

Ruben Selles supposedly in talks to take the job.

Not sure that’s going to go down well amongst the Blades fans.

He deserves to go for his mishandling of their promotion charge, but all this talk in the media that has been going on for 2 weeks now, just show that the owners are as incompetent as he is.
It's disgraceful which ever way you look at it. I would be horrified, and worried, if our board acted in this way.

Think that’s a bit harsh Colburn. They had a bad week when they lost three games and somehow managed to lose the playoff final that they had dominated for nearly 80 minutes in which they had a goal disallowed using VAR!!!
Talk about thin margins.

In the bad week he bad mouthed the fans, belittled the opposition, made ludicrous statements, and undermined his team. I don't think its harsh.
As so many ithers have said it was the coolness and composure of Parker and Farke, that helped us maintain our form. He was the fly in the ointment at Bramall Lane.

Exactly this.

A calmer head would’ve seen Sheff Utd coming out of that week in The top two.

He was erratic and couldn’t deflect the pressure away from his side.

Robin Selles set to become new manager. What a bizarre appointment.

Would prefer Wilder if I were a Blade,

We can analyse his bad week and play off final till we are blue in the face, but what was apparent at the start of the season and remained apparent throughout (based on squad valuations) was that us and Leeds had the better sides.

He could have managed that week like Alex Ferguson and as long as we still won at the Turf he would still have finished 3rd. Very unlucky to be potted.

If I was a Blades fan, with the obvious target of getting your club out of the Championship, I would want Wilder managing my team rather than the current Hull manager Sellers. This may have already reported but Warnock, who is still connected to the club, said on Talksport this morning, that Wilder did not immediately go back to be with his players after losing the play-offs v Sunderland. This at a time when it needed the manager to man manage a deflated squad, and it was quite a while before he saw them. This he claims is what proved the final turning point. I can see the damage this may have done to future respect of their leader

Confirmed - he’s gone by mutual agreement - to be replaced by Ruben Selles.

They waited about 45 mins to announce Selles after announcing Wilder’s sacking.

I’m not a fan of the man, but seems a pretty classless way to treat a club legend.

Nothing to do with what Warnock might have said, it is down to them disagreeing on recruitment. Selles by the way was no longer at Hull, they sacked him.

That's the Watford style usually, let the door close on one as the new one walks in through the next door. They claim to have moved swiftly to fill the vacancy when everyone knows they'd given him the job before sacking Wilder.

I’d have thought they’d leave it 48 hours, particularly given how uninspiring the appointment is. I don’t think many Blades will have been desperate to hear that Selles has been appointed.

I think the difference between "sacked" and "mutual agreement" is that in the latter, the payoff is agreed in advance.

Has there ever been a scenario where the chairman wanted rid of the manager, but couldn't get the manager to agree so he kept him on?

Hull improved when he went in there although it would have been difficult for them not to have given that Walter had been there previously. I was surprised Hull sacked him but I don't understand how his performance there has won him a deal with a club at the other end of the division. I don't think I'd be very happy right now if I were a Blade.
